Friday Flings…
In the interest of cleaning and organizing my house,รขโ‚ฌยฆ!

1. If you could choose 5 things that belonged to someone else in your household to fling, what would they be? I wouldn’t. I always run stuff by Tim before I throw it out, if it’s his or ours. I feel free to throw out my own stuff, or kitchen stuff or old decorative stuff, but I won’t touch his or anything I think is “ours” and might mean something to him. I try to be considerate that way! Now, if we had kids, I would be flinging their stuff a lot, I’m sure! ๐Ÿ™‚

2. What would be the worst 5 things that someone could fling of yours? 1) Any of my pictures. 2) Any of the stuff in my memorabilia boxes 3) Any personal items (clothes, jewelry, etc) 4) Any of my kitchen gadgets 5) Any of my books

3. What are you the best at keeping organized? The worst? I keep our daily lives pretty well organized. I keep the house fairly organized. The kitchen is the most organized place in the house, for sure. Our room and bathroom would be next. My scrapbooking stuff and the “junk” in the office are by far the worst. I need to clean, file, organize and fling in there something fierce.

4. What is the one thing in your house that needs organizing the worst? Oops, see above. Getting ahead of myself!

Thursday Threesome Meme

Thursday Threesome Meme

::Please be Seated::

Onesome: “Please– join us for a light dinner and some conversation.” If you were coordinating a group of say, the thirty or so regulars here, where would you like to have them meet in your area to be able to spend some time talking and eating? Nothing is coming to mind… I’m sure there are some places around here that could accommodate 30 people, but I can’t think of a single one right now! ๐Ÿ˜€

Twosome: be– my Valentine? Yes, it’s early, but do you have ‘traditional” dinner plans for that holiday (or the time around it)? …or if you don’t, where would you like to go? Yes, our new tradition is to stay home. We used to go out, every year, and eat dinner out. The last time we did that, we waited 2 hours for a table, and then the food was mediocre and service was terrible. This was at one of my favorite Italian places, where the food is normally terrific. All the restaurants are so crowded, and I have gotten to where I’d rather stay home. So, I get us some steaks, Tim grills them, and we celebrate Valentines at home. If it falls on a weekday, we usually go out to eat on the weekend afterwards sometimes too.

Threesome: Seated– Hmmm… Table or booth? Do you have a preference when you go out to eat? Just wondering… I prefer a booth. Tim has a quirk about having his back to people and seeing the door. (See, I’m not the only one with Monk-ism’s!)

Welcome to the World, Baby Girl!

StorkKatelyn Ray is here!

Kathryn and Jeremy welcomed their first child today, Katelyn Ray. She was born at 5:43 PM today (Eastern Time), January 11, 2006. She weighs 8 lb and 2 oz and is 21″ long. Her Grandma Gail reports that she has some dark hair, just like her mom did when she was born! (I’ll have to dig out some of those pictures I took when I was a mere 14 years old, and scan them in so I can post!!!). Mom, baby and Dad are doing well, and I’m sure are very happy to finally be together.

Gail promises to send pictures soon, which I will post in Katelyn’s album on Hambones, and with her parents permission, here on my blog. We can’t wait to meet her! She has a pretty cool great-aunt and uncle in me and Tim, don’t you think?! ๐Ÿ˜€

Tweaking, Fiddling & Waiting

Been fairly busy today. Tim had to work really late last night (two nights in a row now) and I had to leave early to go get my hair cut. I’ve been working around the house some today, and fighting problems and “irritants” on the website and this blog. I thought I had contracted some sort of IM virus, but I ran a full scan and Norton reports nothing. If anyone gets anything odd from me, especially via IM, please let me know.

I opened up a new theme that I downloaded and tweaked last night, and so far I like the way it looks. Everything works perfectly under FireFox, but I am seeing some little odds and ends that need fixing under IE. In a perfect world, all browsers would be equal. If you notice anything that looks off or weird, please let me know.

In baby news, we’re waiting to hear from North Carolina. Gail drove home yesterday, and then we got an email early this morning that they had turned around and were headed back. Still waiting on news of baby Katelyn Ray. Will post here and on the main website when we have a new baby! ๐Ÿ™‚

Quiz: Are you like Monk?

OK, I knew when I saw this (came via email), that I had to go take this quiz. See, it’s a running joke around our house that my little obsessive-compulsive neat freak-isms are sort of like Monk on the USA network show of the same name. We love that show and watch it when we remember to tape it (it’s on opposite Battlestar Galactica, duh, a no-brainer, you know what I’ll be watching). Tim is forever calling me Monk or Mrs. Monk when he thinks I’m doing something a little too OCD.

But, HAH, I showed him! ๐Ÿ˜† The quiz (go here to take it) showed that I wasn’t very Monk-ish at all! I tried to cut and paste my results, but it wouldn’t let me, so I made a graphic of the screen shot.

See…. I’m remotely normal after all!

Monkish Quiz Results

P.S. No silly comments about how not-normal I am. I reserve the right to delete any comment I do not approve of. hahahaha

Two things that catch/caught your attention…

1. Outside your window: Looking for birds at my new suet feeder, looking to see if it’s cloudy and about to rain

2. On your desk: Bills that need to be filed, Chinese restaurant fortunes that I need to enter on the Hambones website

3. The last time you were in a car: Tim singing, mud in the back of my new car from his hunting stuff

4. The last time you watched TV: my favorite Peyton commercial, that Martha is having new shows this week

5. The last time you listened to the radio: heard one of my favorite songs “Come A Little Closer” by Dierks Bentley, that car sales ads bug me

Monday Madness Meme

Monday Madness Meme

Always a favorite meme, from this site… feel free to play along in your own blog, or as a comment here ๐Ÿ™‚

Otto said…. I want to thank coffeeNtoast for this week’s excellent questions! Thank you so much for emailing me! (Suggestions are always welcome!) =)

1. Name 1 type of supplement that you take. Viactiv calcium chew, one a day

2. List 2 books that you would like to read in 2006. Any of the ones I own (2 Nicholas Sparks books come to mind), or any on my library list. I have started the Zion Covenant series and want to finish those (I lack 3).

3. List 3 hobbies that you have. Surfing the net, blogging, reading

4. List 4 gifts that you have received. My new Kodak P850 camera :D, Giada’s Everyday Italian cookbook, 2 new Yankee Candles, Kitchenaid hand mixer

5. Share 5 (instant & inexpensive) ways to spruce up a room. Hmm, not my forte, but I would…. open up the curtains and let sunlight in, open the windows if the weather was pleasant, pick up and dust, fluff pillows, light a candle. If money was readily available, I’d look into paint, new pillows or a throw, things like that.

Finished “90 Minutes in Heaven”

I finished the book “90 Minutes in Heaven” by Don Piper a couple of days ago, but haven’t had a chance to type up a review of it on Hambones. I finally did the review this morning, and you can read it here on Hambones.org.

In summary, a very enjoyable book. It did jump around and was sort of random in its telling of the story, which is hard for someone like me (very OCD about things like that). But, the story itself and the feeling the book left me with really outweighed any negatives I might have to say about it. Great story, I recommend it to anyone to read.

I have now started the last book in the Mitford book by Jan Karon – Light in Heaven (a Christmas present from Tim’s parents). I have read all of the Mitford books and loved every one of them. I am so sorry to hear that this is the last book in the series. However, I got online and listened to an interview with Jan Karon and was so happy to hear her say that she’s working on a series of 3 books about Father Tim, although they are not set in Mitford. The first book is supposed to be called “Home to Holly Springs” (as in Holly Springs, Mississippi!) and is to be published in 2007. So, I’m very glad not to have to completely say goodbye to this character I love so much. This is a long book, nearly 400 pages, so I will be reading it for a while!

Snoozing

Well, I’ve spent a lot of today snoozing. I’m still not feeling great, and I got pretty worn out yesterday. We had a great time at the family dinner and getting to see everyone. Then, my mother-in-law (Linda) and I went shopping all afternoon and got home around dark. The guys all went hunting and Mitchell shot a small buck, so that he could send Fred home with some meat, which was very good of him and we all appreciated it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Tim was pretty tired too, I think, so we didn’t stay too late.

I slept a long time last night, probably 11 hours or so, and then took a long nap this afternoon, and I feel like I still need more sleep. What’s up with that? I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired, won’t someone please take these germs and sore throat and cough and make them leave, and stay gone? Please?!

I’ve been watching football most of the afternoon (when I’m not snoozing) and Tim has been playing golf. Yes, folks, it’s true. Tim has converted to a golf freak. He now watches the Golf Channel all the time. He hits balls out back every time he’s home and there’s daylight. He is consumed with golf. And doesn’t seem to care at all about THE PLAYOFFS. Yes, like I told him, who would have ever thought that I would sit and watch football and cheer by myself while he’s out back, whacking away at little white balls.

Here’s Tim with his new net I got him for Christmas… and click on the extended entry to see a few posed “people pics” from yesterday’s family dinner at Tim’s aunt’s house…

Family Dinner

We’re headed out in just a minute, to go to Tim’s aunt’s house for a family dinner. This is his dad’s side of the family and they usually have a get-together the first couple of weeks in January, after the holidays are over, and people have more time to get together and visit. We usually go, and always have a good time seeing everyone.

Afterwards, Linda and I are going shopping and Tim is going to go back to their house and go deer hunting. Fred is supposed to come go hunting too, so we will get to see him also, which will be good. We will probably be back late, so I won’t blog again till tomorrow sometime. We’ll miss the playoff games today, which we hate, so we’re going to try to be here tomorrow afternoon to watch the rest of them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dancing with the Stars

I watched “Dancing with the Stars” last night on ABC for the first time. I never checked it out last summer, and frankly, wasn’t very interested in it. I knew Tim would never watch it with me, so we just skipped it completely. However, in the last couple of weeks, I’ve seen ads for the new show, and they keep showing that Jerry Rice is going to be on there. Well. I love Jerry Rice, he is from Mississippi and I think he’s the greatest receiver, ever, in the NFL and seems like a really classy guy. I tried to get Tim interested, based on Jerry and also Kenny Mayne (ESPN commentator) being on the show. He seemed mildly interested, but I figured he wouldn’t watch with me. But, I stuck to my guns (grabbed the remote away and hid it, basically) and turned it on at 7 PM. Tim had to get on a conference call shortly after 7 PM and ended up being on there for nearly 2 hours, so he missed the whole show.

I, however, was able to watch the entire thing. And I really enjoyed it! I didn’t think I would, I just wanted to see Jerry Rice, but he was second to last to dance and I really enjoyed watching all the others before him. And – I have to say I LOVED Jerry Rice and his partner!! He really got into it and seemed to be having a great time and I thought they did a great job. There were several couples on there that were good, and that I really enjoyed watching. One team gets voted off tonight, much like Idol, which returns soon and we plan to watch. I think that probably the rapper and his partner will go tonight, or else poor Kenny Mayne and his partner. Poor Kenny doesn’t seem to have one single bit of rhythm and two left feet (he looked just awful!) The Lachey guy looked good, Nick’s brother Drew. Of course, he was in a “boy band”, so he ought to have a little rhythm!

Anyway, I enjoyed it and I hope I can get Tim to watch next time. ๐Ÿ™„

Appetizer
Have you ever seen a ghost or an angel?
No, not that I can remember.

Soup
What is your favorite board game?
I’d have to say Trivial Pursuit, love that game. I have the original one, from like, what – over 20 years ago!

Salad
What was the last movie you saw that made you cry?
I got teary-eyed at a couple of the movies we rented over the holidays. I think I teared up during Cinderella Man (when they took the kids away) and I think I got all teary during Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Both really good movies!

Main Course
What would you do if you had 3 months off from your job?
Hmmm…. gee, this is tough. My “job” is pretty good the way it is!

Dessert
What kind of shoes are you wearing today?
None yet, still have my fuzzy chenille slipper socks on. Tennis shoes for later.
