Later, Gater

Wow, we’ve been busy today, and I had wanted to blog all about it. But that will have to wait till later, alligator!

Short version (look for the long version tomorrow!) – we slept late, ran errands, went and test drove vehicles, went shopping and now Elizabeth and Chris are on their way over to come eat supper (pizza) and hang out. Will try to write more tomorrow! 😀

Thursday Update

Stayed busy most of yesterday working on blog stuff and other stuff behind the scenes on Hambones. Always something there to keep me busy! Well, I should say us because Tim always ends up helping me out, and fixing stuff. Thanks Tim! 🙂

Elizabeth came over last night after work and hung out with us for a while. She did some laundry, tried a new recipe we had for supper (Italian Tortellini Stew – it was really good!), and then watched a movie with us (Wimbledon). She left to go rent some 24 discs from our Blockbuster. I hope she and Chris can come over soon and hang out; we miss seeing them.

I went this morning and got my hair cut. The lady that cuts my hair is having PC problems, so I offered to help her out and look at her PC. No promises, I might not be able to fix it, but I’m more than willing to try to help her out. She’ll probably call tomorrow morning when she gets to the salon, then I’ll go pick it up and see what I can do to help. I think she has spyware and viruses on there, so hopefully that all just needs cleaning up. She has some data that she hasn’t backed up, so I’ll try to get that backed up to a CD for her. I hope I can help her, we’ll see tomorrow.

Hump Day

Well, there’s not a lot going on worth blogging about. Well – not that there ever is! Let’s see – here’s a few tidbits:

1. The little bird we found last night didn’t make it, I don’t think. I checked on it till dark last night and it didn’t move. I went out first thing this morning and it was about 2 feet away and looked like it was dying. Apparently it’s mom or dad didn’t come back to put it back in the nest or take care of it. At least one of the neighborhood cats didn’t get it. I checked on it a couple of hours later and couldn’t find it… so, we’ll hope for the best, but I’m afraid the worst has happened to it. 🙁

2. I’ve been working today on my blog… look for a new style to come online shortly.

3. Also working on some other stuff for the main site of Hambones… look for those soon too. Including a surprise!!

Nerd Update

Being nerdy today. I’ve been working on some stuff behind the scenes on this blog today, since we made some changes over the weekend. Lots of stuff to move around and update the links.

Also, I’m starting to get a little frustrated with the podcasts I have subscribed to. I spent some time last week finding a couple of podcasts and putting them on my Ipod. Now, I have finished listening to them and I want them to go away, be deleted from my iPod, but no matter how many times I clear them or delete them from iTunes, they are still on there. ARGH. This is starting to annoy me.

I just downloaded a new podcast for Battlestar Galactica that I want to listen to. We watched the season premiere (taped it Friday night) over the weekend and it was good. Very dark and lots of bad stuff going on, rather intense, but a really good show. I’m so glad it’s back for the rest of the summer now. 😀

Sunday Stuff

Not a whole lot going on today to blog about. Tim and I spent most of the afternoon working on Hambones. All behind-the-scenes kind of stuff, and a few surprises in the works. 🙂 More to come at a later date!

We also talked to Suzie some today about her computer and getting a new one. Lucky Suzie!

We went to grab some quick supper at the Pizza Inn near us, and it was packed. Over near the window, we spotted none other than Bernie Ebbers eating with some family members. I wasn’t sure it was him, but Tim agreed with me. We also noticed most every person in the restaurant seemed to look at him and so we decided it must have been him. I felt really sort of sad, and as I said before in a previous blog entry, I have mixed feelings about his sentencing.

Afterwards, we went to rent a couple of movies, then Tim very graciously agreed to go with me to do the grocery shopping. Sweet Tim!

Off to watch a movie 😀

Rainy Saturday

Tim worked from home yesterday and I got out and ran errands yesterday afternoon. Went to the bank, library, Target and Sam’s. Checked out 2 audiobooks on CD and one hardback book. I shouldn’t have gone, I have other projects to do, but I heard the library calling my name as I drove by! 🙂

Tim called while I was out and said that Gail and Don had just called and were on their way down from the Delta and wanted to know if we would want to go out to eat and maybe to a movie. Fun! We didn’t have anything planned, so that sounded like a blast to us. We went to eat at Margaritas. The guys had fajita quesadillas and the girls had shrimp quesadillas. We porked out on chips, salsa and queso before the food got there and I really wasn’t even hungry! But, of course, me being me, I ate all my quesadilla anyway!

One of those Days…

Tim is working from home today. I’m so very glad, because he is really just about totally wiped out. He’s still working, but I know that it’s a lot better to work from here (less interruptions from others in the office, email, phone, IM, etc), and I hope he can get a lot done from here. He had to work again last night, till about 2:30 or 3:00 AM.

He sent me an email last night about 6 or 6:30, entitled “I am having one of these days” and it contained just this graphic:

One of these Days!

His buddy Moe in Dallas sent it to him, and he thought it was quite fitting! 😀 I hope he has a better day toay!

I am all out of whack today, with him here sleeping late this morning and now working from home. Don’t get me wrong, I love having him here, but I do tend to alter my schedule to fit his. So, I didn’t work out this morning, and here it is, nearly 3 PM and the errands I was going to run all day are not getting run. In fact, I really don’t want to go! I’d rather stay here and be with Tim. I miss seeing him the last week or so, he’s been working so much we’ve barely had any time to spend together. Plus, they are predicting an 80% chance of rain this afternoon and I really don’t feel like sloshing around with groceries and bags in the rain. Oh woe is me! NOT – I have it so made in the shade! 😀

What a Tangled Web We Weave

when we don’t go in and out of the front door for oh… say, maybe 3 hours! We left tonight to go out to eat, and went out the front door. There was NOT a spider web there when we left. However, Tim went outside about 10:20 to get something out of his truck and almost ran face first into this:

Spider Web

Then, he called me and told me to bring my camera! Gotta love a guy that supports my habit! 🙂

Click the -More- link if you want to see a couple more… this was a really intricate web, and HUGE!

Impromptu Date

Boy oh boy – Tim is having a tough week. He is working all day and then having to work almost every single night. He’s more worn out than I have seen him in a long long time.

He called on the way home tonight, about 6:45 or so and asked what we were having for supper (he never reads the menus I post on Hambones!). I told him (ranch chicken strips, rice, corn), and he was like, “I want to go out and eat and be really bad and eat something fattening and have sweet tea”. So, what’s a girl to say to that. No, honey, let’s stay home and eat something homemade, baked, rice which you don’t like, and unsweet tea. Of course not.

So we went to his choice – The Haute Pig in Madison. Where we ordered a slab of dry ribs and proceeded to gorge ourselves on some really wonderful ribs. They have great sauces there, my personal favorite being the sweet one. We had slaw and potato salad with it, and it was all really good. We’re both stuffed, or else I would have had a piece of the Hershey Bar Pie they offer for dessert. Never tried it, but I want it every time they offer it! 🙂

Hit his head and he went to bed and he didn’t get up till the morning… Anybody remember that old song or nursery rhyme?

I love the rain. I’m weird that way. But this time of year, especially, I love to see it rain. It rains so rarely here. We have been the last 3 or 4 weeks with only minimal rain. Now, for two days in a row, we’ve gotten a nice summer shower. Yesterday, about 5 PM, it came down really hard for 15 or 20 minutes. It even knocked over this planter out front. Which, by the way, doesn’t look like this any more. It was starting to look peaked before we left on vacation and it basically shriveled up and died since then. It’s not bloomed at all in the last couple of weeks. I think it may have some kind of bug or fungus in it.

Anyhoo, I digress. I love the rain, because of how good it is for all my plants, but mostly for this reason: I love to see my back fence.

HUH? Click the -More- button to find out why and the story behind it!

Tim & Work

Tim is working so hard this week. He basically worked all weekend, with them calling him Friday night, Saturday afternoon and night, and Sunday evening, where he worked till 2 AM Monday morning. He got called twice on Monday evening, but was able to just get away with a phone call, not logging in and working for a while.

Tuesday was a different story though. He was at the office until nearly 7:30 PM and then got on the conference call last night a little before 11 PM. They just called and woke him up and he’s back at it again this morning. I don’t think he quite got 7 hours of sleep, but I could be wrong. Tim can get by on less sleep than I can, so we’re just really lucky that it’s not me doing all this late night and on-call work!

I hope that his week gets better from here on out, but I’m starting to really have my doubts. He says they are really having a lot of problems with this conversion, and as long as there are problems, he’ll be working.

Just Another Manic Monday

Love that song title from an old song in the 80’s I think, by the Bangles. And today feels like a manic Monday. What a weekend!

Tim ended up having to work most of the weekend, although we are fortunate enough that he could do everything from here, on his laptop. Still, he worked a little while Friday night, most of Saturday afternoon and evening, and then for nearly 8 hours or so Sunday night. I finally gave up and went to bed about 11:40 Sunday night, and I asked him this morning what time he got to bed, since I didn’t wake up (which means I was in pretty deep sleep, I usually wake up when he comes to bed). He said about 2 or a little after. Poor baby.

Back to the grind today. Lots of dirty clothes, and a very dirty house to clean. I’ve been working on importing songs to my iPod more, and hope to find time later to get started on uploading digital photos to print. I’m going to give Snapfish a try and send off a few of our recent vacation pictures and see what their quality and service is like. I haven’t used any of the online places, except for uploading to my local Sam’s or Walmart. I hope Snapfish does a good job on them, or else, I’ll have to get them reprinted somewhere else. If you’ve used an online place and have one to recommend, please drop me a note!

Hurricane Dennis just made landfall and we’re still waiting on the rain here. I’m sure Mark and Amanda and my dad down in Hattiesburg have been getting some good rain already, and I hope it’s not bad and that the wind is not bad. I hope they don’t lose power and don’t sustain any damage. We offered for all of them to come up here, but they all seemed to want to stay down there at home.

Suzanne called a few hours ago from Bermuda! First time I have ever talked to anyone in Bermuda. 🙄 Her trip is going well, they took 160 people and she’s been staying really busy. She sounded a bit worn out, and said they were coming home on Tuesday.

Tim has been having to work quite a bit this weekend. He worked on Hambones a bunch yesterday, then we took a break and tried to watch a movie out of our collection.

YEA! It’s Raining

It’s Raining! I haven’t been this glad to see rain in a while!

I resisted the urge yesterday to pull out the sprinklers again and water all the grass, flowers and shrubs. This morning, I really struggled with it, because everything is so dry, but the Weather Channel kept saying it would probably rain here. Ha, they are usually wrong, but this time they got it right. It’s raining right now, and I’m so glad. Everything needed water so badly, and I’m so grateful for the rain!

We might get more in the next couple of days from Hurricane Dennis, but you never know. They predicted we would get rain 3 or 4 days ago from Tropical Storm Cindy, but we were too far west and didn’t get a drop. Dennis is much bigger and stronger though, so hopefully we will get some more much needed rain from him. I am so glad we don’t live in an area that will be impacted by the hurricane, and I feel for those who do. We’re so north and west of where most of the storms make landfall that we don’t get much bad weather, just rain.

Well, the rain is about to abate, but that’s ok. A good 10-15 minute shower is probably better for my grass than an hour of running the sprinklers! 🙂

Hardworking

It should come as no surprise to anyone that knows him, to know that Tim is a very hardworking individual. I’m always calling him a Type-A, because he is. Very focused. Very driven. Even in his off-time. He usually feels the need to fill his time with something, usually productive and workaholic in nature. Not me – I like to kick back, enjoy life, watch the birds, smell the flowers, that kind of thing. I love nothing more than curling up in one of our big chairs by the fireplace with a book. Not Tim – things like that drive him NUTS!

So, it came as no surprise to me that on his first day back to work yesterday, he didn’t make it in until about 8:30 PM. They had problems at work and he stayed to work on them. He got in, changed clothes, grilled some chicken for us outside, ate supper, then immediately got up and went to work on Hambones. I went to bed about 10:40 and I was sound asleep not long after. I asked him what time he got to bed last night (this morning) and he said, “I don’t know, 12 or 12:30 maybe?”. That’s my Tim. Focused, driven, hard-working. I love him to pieces and even though it irritates me at times, I am very happy and grateful that he works so hard on things for us. He’s a wonderful provider and a great handyman and lots of other wonderful, mooey-gooey, gushy things that I won’t elaborate any further on. 😀
