My Valentine

My Valentines Day this year came a day early! The doorbell rang a little after 5 PM yesterday, and there was a big bouquet of flowers standing in front of my favorite delivery man, outside the front door. Tim decided to beat the rush and get my flowers a day early, which is a good thing, since some places probably sell out! I also got my favorite thing in February – a sweetheart brownie blast from Sonic! πŸ™‚ Tim knows how much I love those things, and so he went and got me one. Isn’t he sweet?

I think I’ll keep him… he’s a very good Valentine πŸ™‚

Here’s a pic of my flowers:

Have a great Valentines Day everyone πŸ™‚ We’ll be pigging out on ribeyes tonight, how about you?

Monday Morning

Coffee Time

It’s still sort of cold here this morning, so I finally relented and fixed myself a small cappuccino. I have been trying to be good, and only have coffee on the days that Tim is here (weekends and the days he works from home). I think that part of my weight gain is coming from the coffee (with all the cream and sugar/Splenda I have to add to it), so I’m trying to cut back. It was like 28º when we woke up this morning and I still haven’t completely warmed up, so I was trying to be good. But, I finally relented and I’m sitting here finishing up my cappuccino. πŸ™

We had a really good weekend, or at least I did. πŸ™‚ I think it drives Tim a bit nuts to stay around the house, but that’s my favorite kind of weekend, especially when it’s cold or rainy. I got a lot of reading done, finished one book and started another, and we watched TV and some movies, and those are always my favorite kind of weekends. Even played a little Sudoku together, which is fun for me. We ate in all weekend, so I did a lot of cooking too. Yes, I know, you all think we eat out all weekend, every weekend, but not always. I cooked every meal and we ate in the entire time. Tim hit a lot of golf balls, both inside and out. He worked with his golf video inside a bunch, then took it outside when he got cabin fever. I bet he hit golf balls for at least 3 hours yesterday afternoon. πŸ™„

I better get to work on my to-do list, it’s a mile long today. I put off a lot of stuff I could have done over the weekend, so I could spend time with Tim or read. I have a lot of catching up to do today!

Movie Time

Tim went to Hollywood Video yesterday to rent some movies. He asked if I wanted to go with him before he left, but I was curled up in my chair with my book and told him “No, you go rent you some movies you want to see, I am happy with my book.” He left and came back with 3 movies. He was trying to be sweet, and rented one for himself (Kingdom of Heaven), one he thought we’d both watch (Legend of Zorro) and one “for me”. What did you get for me, I ask? “Miss Congeniality 2”. Sigh. We’ve seen that Tim. No, we haven’t. Yes, we have. We saw it last year. I don’t remember it. Let me go pull up the review on Hambones – here it is, I reviewed it in July of last year. Oh, ok. Would you take it back and try to rent me another one? NO!

He watched Kingdom of Heaven last night, but I was reading, so I won’t be able to give a review of that one. I doubt Tim will type up a review, he’s not “into that”. We’ll watch Zorro later today, and I’ll try to review that one on Hambones later.

Blog Day

We’re finally having a little winter weather around here. It’s pretty cold and blustery outside, and so far, we’re staying in and avoiding the cold. Tim and I are in the process of upgrading some of the blogs we host on Hambones. We’re currently working on 3 of them. We started last night late and have continued that today. So, today is a blog day! πŸ™‚ Not mine, but for other family and friends. Go check ’em out!

Super Bowl Sunday

Another busy day… the last of our party guests just left. The first arrived about 11 AM and we had lots of food and lots of fun. Believe it or not, I didn’t even take a single picture, so I won’t have any pictures to post. And sadly, my team lost, so I’m not too happy at the moment.

Back to your regularly scheduled blog tomorrow. πŸ˜€

Busy

Been really busy today, getting ready for the Super Bowl Party tomorrow, and catching up on stuff we haven’t had time to do all week. All work and no play makes Tim a dull boy, so we’ve played quite a bit of Sudoku on the computer today, also. We got all of Tim’s hunting clothes washed (special stuff, special circumstances) and put up for the season. Got some things done outside and inside. Went to the new Italian place in Madison that opened yesterday (Alexander’s) and had supper. Lots more, but that’s the high points. πŸ˜€

Sweetheart Brownie Blast

If you haven’t had a Sweetheart Brownie Blast at Sonic yet, be sure to get one before they’re gone. πŸ™‚ Sonic is really great about offering seasonal or monthly items, new things to try, and this is one of their best, IMHO.

I have a long-standing love affair with Sonic’s February offerings. They used to have a “Sweetheart Shake” in February, and I would always get at least one from my darling husband, as a surprise or happy, in February. He was really good about it, and would always get me one every year, for the first few years we were married. I looked forward to it every February (every day, wondering if today was the day he would bring me one home as a surprise…nothing like a little anticipation ) Then, for some unknown reason, Sonic stopped making them. We probably had a 2 or 3 or maybe 4 year drought where they didn’t have a Sweetheart anything. Then, last year (or maybe the previous year), they started offering this “Sweetheart Brownie Blast”. WELL. You can’t go wrong in my book by combining soft serve ice cream, cherries, brownies and whipped cream. They’re delicious.

Tim came home with one for me yesterday…

Sweetheart Brownie Blast from Sonic

This was, of course, the same time he came home with some new happies (for himself). He went out and purchased the two items I was planning on buying him for Valentines Day. I keep telling him, trying to get it through his thick skull, that he needs to stop buying himself presents 1-2 weeks before “known holidays” such as his birthday, Christmas, Valentines, and our anniversary. He never remembers. He went and bought himself a big bag of golf balls, and these yesterday:

Well, maybe I need to get him proper golf clothes (which of course, I can’t pick out, since he’d have to try them on). He seems to like playing golf in his vinyl pants:

Sigh. I’m out of ideas on what to get him for Valentines Day. John Grisham has no new book published this year in Jan/Feb, which is what I’ve gotten Tim for the last 7 or 8 years, maybe more. He’s so obsessed about golf, that I was going to get him golf stuff, but now he’s gone out and bought himself what I was planning on getting him. Anyone got any other ideas? Let me know, please, if you have any light bulb moments. πŸ˜€

Cartoon for the Day

I saw this in our paper yesterday and nearly busted out laughing. Tim and I have actually had this conversation before. Actually, several times. (He doesn’t read my blog, you know). πŸ™‚ Of course, in the cartoon, it appears the man is the blogger, but still… it’s funny to me! πŸ˜€

Playing Catch Up

We’ve been really busy since I last blogged… nothing earth-shattering, but just staying busy. Here’s the highlights:

Friday night, we went out to eat at our new Chili’s in Madison (we’ve been once before, right after they opened). I was less than impressed. I didn’t like my food and didn’t eat but about half of it and Tim seemed less than thrilled with his also. Therefore, I was able to coerce him into a visit to Cold Stone Creamery afterwards. We got a Black Forest Dream which is chocolate ice cream mixed with cherries, brownie pieces and hot fudge sauce. Yum-o. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. We also went to Lowe’s and did some shopping Friday night.

Saturday, we headed to Hattiesburg for a long day.

Back From the Library

I just got back from the library with some new books to read. The library is such a wonderful place for me. I’ve blogged about it before – it’s as good as a bookstore, but better, because it’s free! πŸ™‚ Anyway, I took my little notebook (I keep a little notebook and jot down books I would like to look at checking out, as opposed to buying, at the library) and had several options. Too many really. I accumulated about 5 or 6 books in my hand and then had to decide which to keep and which to check out another day. I went in with the firm affirmation that I would only check out two. I always seem to come home with three, and it’s always pushing it to read all three books in the three weeks that I have before they are due back. Sigh. I came home with three.

One of the ones I came home with is a book I found in the “New Arrivals” section up front and decided on a whim to give it a try. It’s called “Talk to the Hand” by Lynne Truss, and its subtitle is “The Utter Bloody Rudeness of the World Today, or Six Good Reasons to Stay Home and Bolt the Door”. πŸ˜€ I have had her previous book, “Eats, Shoots and Leaves” on my list for a while and just had never gotten around to checking it out. I will see how I like this one, and then see about the other later on.

I actually went to check out “Memoirs of a Geisha” by Arthur Golden, but both copies are checked out at my local branch. I guess with the movie out, more people (like me) are interested in the book. I just want to rent or buy the book and read it before the movie comes out. I guess I still have a few months, so hopefully I can get a copy soon at the library.

Anyway, I also checked out two other books (see in the sidebar) – the 4th book in the Zion Covenant series, Jerusalem Interlude, and the first book in the Redemption series by Karen Kingsbury. I think I’m going to have a hard time finishing the Redemption series, because all of the others were checked out at both the Ridgeland and Madison branch. They seem to be really popular books. I may have to start asking to be put on the list for them when they come back in (since I must read them in order). πŸ™‚

Better go get busy reading!

Nothing

I got nothing today… nothing interesting or even mundane to talk about. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves πŸ™‚

OK, I take that back, I do have a couple of miniscule tidbits. I exercised again this morning. For the third day in a row. Monday was hips/thighs, Tuesday was arms/shoulders with weights, today was abs/back with Pilates and yoga stuff. I think that covers most of my body – I hurt all over and am sore in all kinds of horrible places. The DVD’s I ordered on Monday shipped last night so, hopefully, they will be here soon. In the mean time, I bought this purple yoga mat at Walmart yesterday.

Other tidbit, I’m doing a lot of research online for our upcoming vacation. Tim has asked off for several days at work, around our anniversary in early March. It’s a big one, so we’re not quite sure where are are going or doing. Offer suggestions if you’d like. πŸ˜€

Golf

Bummer. Tim’s golf DVD we ordered him just came in the mail. I know what he’ll be watching for a while. He keeps swinging those darn clubs inside and I know sooner or later, he’s either going to hit something, or put a hole in the ceiling.

For the record, I’d like to restate one thing – I despise the Golf Channel. I hate it, I really do. It’s now on constantly at our house. Day and night, night and day, day in and day out. I’m considering packing up and moving to Iceland. They don’t play golf there, do they? πŸ˜›

Finally Broke Down…

I finally broke down and decided to jump on the “purchase exercise equipment in January in hopes of losing weight this year” bandwagon. πŸ™„ I haven’t spent any of my Christmas money yet, so I decided to order 2 exercise DVD’s with some of my money. I have been taping exercise shows off of TV and am fine with those, but I thought I’d splurge and get something that was commercial free πŸ˜€

Here’s what I just ordered:

Denise Austin Blast Away the Pounds

Denise Austin Burn Fat Fast

Maybe they’ll help!
