Birthday Photos

Tim was very diligent and patient with me yesterday, and took a bunch of pictures of me on my birthday. I usually have to remind him, but he was great this year and offered before I ever had to bug him about it. I am going to load them into the Photos section of Hambones (and I also have some from Shanna from their recent Disney trip to do, thanks Shanna!!!), but I haven’t gotten to that yet. Soon, I hope, very soon!

In the mean time, here’s a couple of me on my birthday… these are some of the better ones. Be wary of checking out the rest on Hambones later on… I am NOT very photogenic. 😥 As my mom always said “ooh, that’s a bad picture of you Stacy, don’t show that one to anybody!” She hated her picture taken too, and I think it rubbed off on me!

Click the -More- link if you want to see a few from yesterday. 🙂

The times, they are a changing

I think most everyone knows that I love photos, love taking pictures, try to scrapbook them sometimes, etc. I have a picture in a frame above my computer monitor from 1995, when Tim and I were dating, that was taken on my birthday. Tim was a good sport and played along yesterday on my birthday, to take another one, 10 years later.

The times, they are a changing…. I think I look quite a bit older and at least 20 pounds heavier! Oh well, all true!

Picture in the -More- section….

A year ago today…

A year ago today we were up in the mountains on a wonderful vacation. We went to Gatlinburg, did a lot of hiking and exploring and even a little shopping. 🙂 Fond memories….

Here we are a year ago today!

Weekend

Another busy weekend for us. This makes 4 weekends in a row where we’ve hit the road. I’m ready to stay home some and “git some stuff done around here” (said in my best Southern girl accent).

Yesterday, we went to Tim’s parents house. Dad came and hung out with Tim and Mitchell some, and they all went to the “other land” and worked on bush-hogging, clearing and planting for the upcoming gun season (deer hunting). Linda and I did some stuff around the house, went to Walmart to get organizers, and then worked for a while in Brittany and Zack’s rooms – cleaning up, cleaning OUT, and organizing. I hope they will work harder to keep their rooms neater, and help their grandmom out more! 🙂

Today is football day, as always. We love the NFL here, you know! I think after the game is over, we’ll probably head out. It’s so pretty today. We may go back to the new subdivision that we discovered last Sunday afternoon and drool over all the new houses that they are building. I found 2 or 3 that I could easily move into. Loved, loved, loved them. Big kitchens, some with birch cabinets, tile, hardwood floors, some had tongue-in-groove ceilings, one had brick archways, great houses. Tim could buy one for me for my birthday in a heartbeat! 😆

Outta Here

Well, we’re headed out in a minute, for Tim’s parents house. He wants to work on deer stuff. Something about bush hogging and planting and getting stuff ready to shoot poor innocent deer in a month or two. You know, Bambis. 😀

Waiting on a Bloom

Several months ago (early May), we got a “pass-along” plant from one of our neighbors, a “confederate rose”. It was just a cutting when we first got it, and then Tim planted it outside our bedroom window. In the months since then, it’s been growing up a storm, but has just been green. Now, a couple of weeks ago, I started seeing buds forming. I have been patiently waiting for them to bloom, and I still am. I hope they start popping open and blooming soon – I’m anxious to see what they look like and what color they are! 🙂 Plus, it will be nice to have something new bloom. Check out the pictures I took this morning in the -More- section.

Gail has a blog!

Yippee, we are hosting another blog at Hambones. Gail is going to give blogging a try, and we’ve got her all setup. I worked all day yesterday on a new fall design for her (looks sorta like mine, but oh well, it was the best I could do, I’m still learning!). I really like it, the picture is pretty cool, I think. Go check it out and leave her a comment on her new blog! 😆

P.S. You can access it from the home page of Hambones or just click here.

What do you mean, you’re out?

As of right now, this minute, one of my pet peeves is driving to a particular store to get ONE thing and then they are out of that one thing. Now, granted, in the overall scheme of things, it doesn’t matter a hill of beans. Especially considering it wasn’t something I needed, I just wanted. But, still, it peeves me.

Since it’s fall and I didn’t try one last year, I decided to drive to Target and go in and try the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. Just a little splurge, to spend more money than I should on a coffee, and enjoy it while I browse around Target, and look at all of their seasonal stuff. I go in, stand in line and then order it, only to have 2 girls look at me with very dumb expressions and both of them say “we’re out of that”. What do you mean, “you’re out of that”? Aren’t you a coffee establishment and isn’t this what is promoted on your menu and billboard above the counter? Argh, a wasted trip. On the bright side, the thing must be good (if “they’re out of that”), and maybe I will make another effort to drive to a Target or Starbucks to try it before it’s gone and a new seasonal or holiday one is out.

The good news it that the library was NOT out of books. Or even the books I wanted. Some saving grace to my morning trip out.

Blah Blah Blah

Spent most all day yesterday working on a blog design. I’m going to get out and run some errands today, including a trip to the library. I haven’t quite finished “Big Cherry Holler”, so I’m going to see if I can check it out again, and also try to get the next Zion Covenant book. Then, I’m afraid, it’s time to buckle down and do some cleaning around here. The house really needs it! Even though I’d like to, I can’t slide the entire time Tim is gone, I’m afraid

Sounds

It’s another pleasant morning here, weather-wise, so I have my windows open again. I’ve been able to do this since last Friday, but I think today may be the last day. It’s supposed to start getting back into the 80’s today or tomorrow. But, it sure has been nice while it lasted! 🙂 Saves on the electric bill too. Anyway, it’s quiet here, and will be. Tim leaves today for a business trip to Dallas and won’t be home till Wednesday night. So it will be me and the walls, the tv and the computer.

Here’s what I’m hearing all morning, from my open windows:

Birds singing

A flock of geese flew over a few minutes ago, headed toward the lake in our subdivision. They were honking up a storm!

One of our neighbors, Miss Jean, is getting a new roof, courtesy of Hurricane Katrina and her insurance company. They’ve been hammering for several hours now.

I guess these are better sounds than the sounds of silence, huh?

A New Happy

Yankee Candle Pumpkin Pie housewarmer (10 oz)

Tim wanted to go to Best Buy yesterday after the game, to buy yet another wireless router. Yes, that makes 3 routers that we own. We’re nerds. Geeks. Other techno-named people. Tim got a new laptop at work and it is having trouble connecting with our US Robotics wireless router. Sooooo, of course he had to go buy another router to play with.

Anyway, since Bed, Bath and Beyond is next door to our Best Buy, I took along my 20% coupon and picked up the Yankee Candle fragrance of the month – Pumpkin Pie. A nice little splurge for the fall, or an early birthday happy, maybe 🙂 Hey – look on the bright side, at least I’m buying smaller ones now and not the larger jar candles! 😆

Go Team!

Tim got off from work a little early yesterday afternoon (Friday), and so he ran with me to Walmart. Then we went to McAlister’s for a quick supper. Tim was good and ordered a grilled chicken, so he made me feel guilty and I decided not to order something big and fattening, and instead got a turkey melt wrap on whole wheat. 🙂 We watched some new shows on TV last night – Threshold and Numb3rs. Threshold is turning out to be a good show, we really like it.

We’re headed down to the Burg later today, for the USM home game against Tulsa. They play at 7 PM, so we’ll be getting home late. We’re going to stop by my dad’s first and help him with his computer – he finally got his phone back late Thursday. He was out of phone service for like 39 days after Hurricane Katrina. Then, I think he wants to run to Sam’s and pick up some frozen things, to start back filling up his freezer (since he lost everything in the hurricane). After that, we’ll head to The Rock for the game. It should be great weather, it still feels very cool and pleasant here. I might even take my gold Eagle blanket, just in case!

Photos from last Weekend

Gee, I seem to be a few days behind with this. I honestly forgot that I took these pictures last weekend – I only took about 5 or 6. We went to Zack’s football game (he’s 10) on Saturday, then Tim and I went to the cemetery on Sunday afternoon (after the Saints game), to put new fall flowers on my mom’s grave. Just in case anyone is interested in either event, click the -More- link to see 3 pictures. 🙂

Better Now

I’m feeling better now, having survived my trip to all the doctors and labs. We had a snafu with the new insurance, that caused me to make two trips to different places to get all of my tests and lab work done. But, at least it’s over and hopefully everything is ok. I feel like the dark cloud that’s been following me around for a week or two is starting to lift. It will be a couple of weeks before we get all the results, but hopefully everything is fine, and I won’t have to go back. Keeping my fingers crossed, anyway.

Let’s see, what else is going on … Tim had to work last night, and was up till nearly 2 AM. I was still awake, nervous about all my tests and appointments. He worked from home today, which was great for me. We went to a late lunch together at Wood’s, the new “country cooking” place that opened near our house. I went after lunch to another site for more tests, and then stopped by Michael’s on the way home. Got the new Becky Higgins “Sketches 2” book with my 40% off coupon. Then I had to stop at the grocery store to pick up an item for some homemade soup I’m going to make tomorrow.

I think we’ll go walking later, then have supper and settle in for a good night of TV. Tonight is LOST – YEAH! 🙂
