Birthday Update

I had a really good birthday yesterday. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes, emails and calls. All are very much appreciated! 🙂

If you want to read a more detailed account of my day, click the -More- link and read on!

I decided I’d spend the day playing and not working, so I skipped most of my housework and chores that I would normally be doing. I knew that Tim would take me out to eat for my birthday – he always does if I ask (which I had!). I usually choose an Italian restaurant, and this year was no different. We went to Panino’s out on Lakeland and it was really good. More on that in a second.

I went to Michaels and got a couple of little happies for me (Christmas scrapbook paper and some magnetic notepads for making lists!), and then headed to Barnes and Noble. I had decided to strike out again in search of the pumpkin spice latte that I was denied last week at Target. Suzanne had told me, when she called to SING to me , that she didn’t like the pumpkin one all that much, but she loved the eggnog latte that Starbucks offers around Christmas. Well, she was right – I tried a pumpkin one at B&N and while it was good, it wasn’t anything spectacular and I probably won’t get another one. But, it was good to find it and try it, and I enjoyed browsing in the bookstore and lingering over my coffee.

On the way home, Tim called to say he was leaving work early, yeah! He came in and asked me to stay out of the den for a while, so I did. He spread all of my gifts out in the den, on every chair and couch. We had a musical chairs kind of birthday! I had to move from chair to chair to open each one, and each one had a little note in it. Vouchers or IOU’s, you would call them. Good for a backrub, good for a honey-do, good for a shopping trip, things like that. I can’t wait to cash those in! Tim got me lots of things from my Amazon wish list and also another list I had sent him a few weeks ago. He did great! I got a book that was on my list, one that my friend Wendy had recommended. I also got this movie. And he went to the Yankee Candle store in the mall and picked out this wonderful smelling candle for me. And he got me a long sleeve shirt and a Nike track suit (more on that in a second). And, most important of all, I got the skin for my iPod that I have been lusting after for months! Now, it has a great little red protective case on it, and most best of all — it has a belt clip so that I can wear it anywhere, on anything, and take it with me where ever I am. YEAH!

I also got my own little chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing, complete with a candle on top. It was soooo good!

I had asked for a nice warm-up/track suit, something I could wear out to the grocery store or to run errands in. Tim found me a really nice Nike one at Lady Footlocker, but the pants were capri pants and I wanted long pants for winter. So, after I opened all my presents, we went to the mall to return that suit and look for another one. I forgot to bring the Eddie Bauer t-shirt he had bought me. It was nice, and fit, and my favorite color (green), but I really just wanted a loose, 100% cotton one to wear with warmups, while we walk or I’m just sitting around the house. I need to return that soon, too. Anyway, we went to Lady Footlocker and returned the capri set and I tried on several others, but couldn’t find anything that either Tim or I liked. So, we decided to try Kohl’s out on Lakeland, since we were headed out that way to go to dinner at Panino’s. I hit the jackpot there. They carry Nike, Reebok, Adidas and several other brands. I tried several on and found at least 4 or 5 that I really liked. We settled on two, one really casual for walking and a nicer velour type one (pink/salmon color) for wearing out. If the links work, I got this one in graphite (grey with yellow stripes), the top and bottom. Then the nicer one was sort of a thick velour type, but I couldn’t find a picture on the Kohl’s website. It’s nice though, but trendy, so I probably won’t wear it more than one or maybe two seasons. But I’ll enjoy wearing it this winter. If we ever get any cool weather – it was 87 degrees yesterday on my birthday!

We went to Panino’s and had a really good dinner. Tim had fettucine alfredo with grilled chicken and I had the portobello mushroom raviolini. Then, since it was my birthday, I had to have my traditional tiramisu for dessert. After dinner, we came home and watched our tape of NCIS and Amazing Race.

P.S.
Oh, and since I threatened Tim, I feel I must mention one other tiny fact. Tim got me not one but two cards for my birthday. One was really funny and sweet and fit us to a tee, and the other, well, the other was not a nice card. It said on the front “Ice Age, Stone Age, Bronze Age”, and when you opened it up, there’s a mirror and it says “OLD AGE”. ARGH. Tim is not supposed to buy me cards like that. I told him he’d be in the dog house for that one. So, woof woof, here he is
