Friday Flings…
In the interest of cleaning and organizing my house,รขโ‚ฌยฆ!

1. If you could choose 5 things that belonged to someone else in your household to fling, what would they be? I wouldn’t. I always run stuff by Tim before I throw it out, if it’s his or ours. I feel free to throw out my own stuff, or kitchen stuff or old decorative stuff, but I won’t touch his or anything I think is “ours” and might mean something to him. I try to be considerate that way! Now, if we had kids, I would be flinging their stuff a lot, I’m sure! ๐Ÿ™‚

2. What would be the worst 5 things that someone could fling of yours? 1) Any of my pictures. 2) Any of the stuff in my memorabilia boxes 3) Any personal items (clothes, jewelry, etc) 4) Any of my kitchen gadgets 5) Any of my books

3. What are you the best at keeping organized? The worst? I keep our daily lives pretty well organized. I keep the house fairly organized. The kitchen is the most organized place in the house, for sure. Our room and bathroom would be next. My scrapbooking stuff and the “junk” in the office are by far the worst. I need to clean, file, organize and fling in there something fierce.

4. What is the one thing in your house that needs organizing the worst? Oops, see above. Getting ahead of myself!

Thursday Threesome Meme

Thursday Threesome Meme

::Please be Seated::

Onesome: “Please– join us for a light dinner and some conversation.” If you were coordinating a group of say, the thirty or so regulars here, where would you like to have them meet in your area to be able to spend some time talking and eating? Nothing is coming to mind… I’m sure there are some places around here that could accommodate 30 people, but I can’t think of a single one right now! ๐Ÿ˜€

Twosome: be– my Valentine? Yes, it’s early, but do you have ‘traditional” dinner plans for that holiday (or the time around it)? …or if you don’t, where would you like to go? Yes, our new tradition is to stay home. We used to go out, every year, and eat dinner out. The last time we did that, we waited 2 hours for a table, and then the food was mediocre and service was terrible. This was at one of my favorite Italian places, where the food is normally terrific. All the restaurants are so crowded, and I have gotten to where I’d rather stay home. So, I get us some steaks, Tim grills them, and we celebrate Valentines at home. If it falls on a weekday, we usually go out to eat on the weekend afterwards sometimes too.

Threesome: Seated– Hmmm… Table or booth? Do you have a preference when you go out to eat? Just wondering… I prefer a booth. Tim has a quirk about having his back to people and seeing the door. (See, I’m not the only one with Monk-ism’s!)

Monday Madness Meme

Monday Madness Meme

Always a favorite meme, from this site… feel free to play along in your own blog, or as a comment here ๐Ÿ™‚

Otto said…. I want to thank coffeeNtoast for this week’s excellent questions! Thank you so much for emailing me! (Suggestions are always welcome!) =)

1. Name 1 type of supplement that you take. Viactiv calcium chew, one a day

2. List 2 books that you would like to read in 2006. Any of the ones I own (2 Nicholas Sparks books come to mind), or any on my library list. I have started the Zion Covenant series and want to finish those (I lack 3).

3. List 3 hobbies that you have. Surfing the net, blogging, reading

4. List 4 gifts that you have received. My new Kodak P850 camera :D, Giada’s Everyday Italian cookbook, 2 new Yankee Candles, Kitchenaid hand mixer

5. Share 5 (instant & inexpensive) ways to spruce up a room. Hmm, not my forte, but I would…. open up the curtains and let sunlight in, open the windows if the weather was pleasant, pick up and dust, fluff pillows, light a candle. If money was readily available, I’d look into paint, new pillows or a throw, things like that.

Appetizer
Have you ever seen a ghost or an angel?
No, not that I can remember.

Soup
What is your favorite board game?
I’d have to say Trivial Pursuit, love that game. I have the original one, from like, what – over 20 years ago!

Salad
What was the last movie you saw that made you cry?
I got teary-eyed at a couple of the movies we rented over the holidays. I think I teared up during Cinderella Man (when they took the kids away) and I think I got all teary during Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Both really good movies!

Main Course
What would you do if you had 3 months off from your job?
Hmmm…. gee, this is tough. My “job” is pretty good the way it is!

Dessert
What kind of shoes are you wearing today?
None yet, still have my fuzzy chenille slipper socks on. Tennis shoes for later.

Thursday Threesome Meme

Thursday Threesome Meme

::Hook ’em Horns!::

Onesome: Hook– Just to get us back in the swing of things after the holidays: when you’re at home, where do your keys hang out, on a hook by the door? …or do they have a special place? …or do you find them wherever they landed the last time you walked in? But of course – would you expect any less of me?! I have a keyholder in the kitchen, and my keys hang on a certain hook (the right most one). Occasionally, they will be in my purse, but they are usually on the hook. Tim’s, on the other hand, could be in several different spots.

Twosome: ’em– Do you use contractions like ” ’em ” in your daily conversations? …or do people use a contraction or phrase that particularly bugs you past the point of rationality? Yes, I’m afraid I do. I think it’s the Southerner in me. I say “em” and “aint” and “gonna” and things like that a lot, I think.

Threesome: Horns– On the Horns of a dilemma: if you had only one movie you could nominate for the Academy Awards for 2005, which would it be? …and why? The screenplay? …the lead player(s)? …the setting? Not sure, I haven’t seen that many at the theater lately (just King Kong). We just rented 9 movies though, over the holidays, and out of those, the best (by far) to me were Cinderella Man and Serenity. Great movies!

Tuesday Twosome Meme

Well, all of the memes that I normally do on either Monday or Tuesday are all about New Years resolutions this week. I don’t normally make resolutions, but I’ll do one and answer more of that below…

Tuesday Twosome Meme

Tuesday, January 03, 2006

New Year’s resolutions…

1. Worth a try or pure waste of time? Worth a try, but more as a lifestyle change, not a resolution that I won’t keep

2. Something I have never done or have tried at least once? Oh, I’ve tried to make and keep NY resolutions before. I have tried to keep a written diary before, I’ve tried to stick to a healthy eating and exercise regimen, etc. I have to convince myself that they are lifestyle changes and I’m more likely to stick to them

3. Help me set goals or emphasizes my procrastination? A little of both. I’m a terrible procrastinator, and eventually I will just give up.

4. Make me laugh or annoy me? Neither, I’m mostly indifferent to New Years resolutions, as I don’t make them or try to keep them

5. Are usually broken within the first month or are more of long-term goals to accomplish? Well, when I used to try to do them, I never made it more than a month or so. Now that I call them “lifestyle changes”, I have a better chance of sticking to them!

Five on Friday Meme

Oooh, one about books! ๐Ÿ™‚ Gotta do this one!

From this site:

December 16, 2005
Reading is FUNdamental!

1. How many books do you read per month? How many are for work/school? Well, I’ve read 35 this year, so I guess I average 2-3 a month. All are for leisure, entertainment.

2. What is your favorite genre of book (fiction, self-help, etc…)? Fiction, either women’s fiction or Christian fiction

3. Do you subscribe to any magazines? Which? Are there any you’d like to subscribe to but haven’t? Sigh, magazine subscriptions are a weakness of mine. I get Better Homes, Southern Living, 1 scrapbook mag, and Good Housekeeping. I could easily subscribe to 2 or 3 others, there are some I really want, but I’ve got them coming out of my ears as it is. ๐Ÿ™„

4. Where do you get your reading materials? Online? Bookstore? Library? Mostly the library lately.

5. List 5 books you recommend people read: Any John Grisham book, any Jan Karon Mitford series book, any Nicholas Sparks book, in particular “Three Weeks with my Brother”. I also really enjoy the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich, they are very light and entertaining!

Friday Fiver Meme

Friday Fiver Meme

ET

1. What’s your favorite radio station? Miss 103

2. How would you describe the format? country music

3. Do you think satellite radio will become commonplace, like subscribing to cable TV? I think it’s really gaining a foothold, like Tivo. I wasn’t sure at first, but it really seems to be taking off.

4. Have you thought about buying a satellite radio subscription? I’ve thought about it, but I’m not in the car enough to justify the cost. Tim either, I asked if he wanted Sirius or XM for Christmas and he was like,no, I don’t have enough commute time. ๐Ÿ™‚

5. When is the last time you said goodbye? To Tim a few minutes ago, when he left to go Christmas shopping by himself

Thursday Threesome Meme

One of my favorites, the Thursday Threesome Meme:

::Candy canes and Peppermint sticks::

Onesome: Candy canes– Treat of the Christmas season or something you just never got into? (Oh, and “traditional” or with green stripes for the aficionados out there ?) I am not a peppermint or most any kind of mint fan. Tim loves them and eats peppermints year round. I learned years ago to buy a box of candy canes for the tree. Tim used to eat most of them. This year, he hasn’t touched a single one. I bought a box of chocolate mint flavored ones, and apparently, he is either protesting or ignoring them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Twosome: and Peppermint– or cinnamon scented candles and such? Which do you prefer when you walk into a home or business this time of year? …or maybe even fresh evergreen from a real tree? I love the smell of fresh trees and wreaths, but never have them here. We’re totally artificial baby. I love several of the Yankee Candle scents though – Cranberry Chutney and Christmas Cookie are my favorites.

Threesome: sticks– ..or schtick? ..or even maybe kitsch? Yeah, what is your most un-favorite piece of Christmastime memorabilia? That display at the hardware store? The “Simpsons Nativity”? That ornament you made in third grade that still ends up on the tree each year? Inquiring minds and all that… Nothing is springing to mind… I love most everything about Christmas and I’m terribly sentimental about ornaments and things. No one in our neighborhood or even town does tacky decorations or Griswald stuff, so I don’t ever see things that bother me.
