Monday Madness Meme

1. If you could be on the Amazing Race, who would your partner be? I love, love, love this show, but I know myself well enough to know I could never be on it. However, if I was, I would definitely need to race with Tim. He’s the only one who could keep my stress levels manageable!

2. On a priority scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate trust in a relationship/friendship? As a 9 or 10, trust is a huge issue with me

3. Do you trust your spouse/significant other/best friend completely? Yes, I trust Tim completely, with my life. I know he always puts me first and makes decisions that are best for us, and I trust him in everything he says and does.

4. Do you trust others easily, or does it take time? No, I don’t trust easily. I’ve had a bad situation in the past and I learned the hard way that trust is a very delicate thing and once broken, is very hard to get back.

Friday Feast Meme

Friday Feast Meme

Appetizer
Name 3 people whom you admire for their intelligence.
Tim is obviously the first one who comes to mind. He’s one of the smartest people I know, about so many things. He can rebuild a carburetor, program in C++, sing to me (he sounds like Garth Brooks sometimes!), and a thousand other things. So many people sell him short when they first meet him — and they are sorely mistaken, which they usually realize very soon afterwards. As for the other two, that would require more thought than I am prepared to give at this time! πŸ˜€

Soup
What’s the last food you tried that you really didn’t care for.
Can’t think of any off hand. We tried Afghan and Thai on vacation and I loved everything I had. I guess the last thing would have been some kind of sushi on a Chinese buffet – it has a greenish/yellow thing in the middle that I didn’t like. No idea what it’s called though.

Salad
If you could rename the street that you live on, what would you want it to be called?
I don’t have a problem with the name of our street. Actually, I rather like it. I liked it 12 years ago or I might not have ever moved here! πŸ˜‰

Main Course
When was the last time you were genuinely surprised?
Yesterday, I think. I had been on the lookout for two days for my pictures from Snapfish. I checked when I got in (early afternoon) and no pictures. Then, Tim comes in from work and says he has a surprise for me in his hand, behind his back. Voila, he produces a box with all our vacation pictures from Snapfish. I was surprised – because there was no box there earlier when I got home, and the doorbell never rang, so I didn’t expect them to come at all. It was a nice surprise, though!!

Dessert
Share a household tip.
I sprinkle baking soda down my kitchen sink and drain, then follow it with white vinegar. The vinegar makes it bubble up, and then I wash it all down with hot water. This always fixes it if something smells not so good in the sink or drain.

Friday Feast Meme

Next up, the Friday Feast Meme Meme

Appetizer
What kind of car do you drive? If you could make an even trade for any other car, what would you want to drive?
Currently driving our Pontiac Bonneville. She’s going to get traded in soon though, I think for a new Ford Explorer. I don’t have any kind of a dream car, so I don’t know what I would pick if money or gas mileage wasn’t an issue. πŸ™

Soup
Take your phone number and add each number together separately (example: 8+6+7+5+3+0+9=38) – what’s the total?

Home: 33
Cell: 36

Salad
When were you last outside, and what were you doing?
Went out a few minutes ago to make sure the attic fan had kicked on. Tim went up to the attic last night to look for something and said the fan was not running and the attic was hotter than hades (my words, he said it felt like it was 150ΒΊ up there). I checked this morning, and it was running, which is good. We’ve replaced it once already, and I know Tim does not want to get up in the attic in July in Mississippi and put in a new fan!

Main Course
What is your favorite restaurant, and what do you usually order there?
These questions are so hard for me, I can’t narrow it down to one. One cuisine maybe. OK, since I’m hungry for Chinese, I’ll say Golden Dragon in Madison, and get the Shrimp and Cabbage.

Dessert
Name 3 things in which you occasionally indulge.
Tiramisu at Italian restaurants, Krispy Kreme donuts while we’re on vacation and new scrapbook supplies! πŸ˜€

Friday Fiver Meme

Friday Fiver Meme

Next one, from the Friday Fiver website:

Pet Connection

1. Are you a dog or cat person? Dog person, most definitely

2. How many pets do you have? Zero. At the moment, trying to patiently wait on Tim to get another dog. I want another dog. Soon. I miss Sally

3. What’s the best thing about your pets? The unconditional love and companionship they offer. Plus, dogs are such happy creatures, they are always like “Oh. My. Gosh. You’re HERE, I’m so happy to see you!”

4. What’s the weirdest thing your pet has done? Well, Sally used to “hump” her bed, so odd to see a female dog do, and it was rather embarrasing when people were over. We used to say she was scratching her butt. πŸ˜€ She mostly only did it when people came to visit, I think she was feeling awkward or something. The best thing she did was bring in the morning paper every day!

5. Plans for any more pets? Oh yes, I will always have dogs. I want one now, if you’re reading this Tim. πŸ™‚

P.S. Click the -More- link if you’d like to see a picture of my sweet Sally girl, taken less than 2 months before she passed away. I still miss her so much πŸ™

Now, it’s a feast of memes on Friday! I haven’t been able to find as many lately, and I’ve been wondering if the way of the meme is dying a slow death in the blogosphere. Then, I go look this morning and find several I want to do.

So buckle your seat belt, here we go! As always, please feel free to post your answers in a comment, or put them on your own blog πŸ˜€

First up, from Stacy’s blog, the Aloha Friday Meme:

How often do you clean your house? Well, I have a routine of certain things I clean on certain days. For example – Mondays are vacuuming and dusting days. Tuesdays are towels and bathrooms day. Etc. You get the picture. I do something every day, cleaning or laundry or both, and try to stay ahead of the game. I don’t do “deep cleaning” very often – moving furniture to vacuum under them, cleaning windows inside or out (actually, I NEVER clean the windows), etc.

How much water do you drink every day? I’ve been working really hard on this lately. This week, I’ve aimed for 3 big bottles a day, 72 oz total. I hit that 2 or 3 days, and the other days I had at least two, which was 48 oz. It’s an uphill struggle for me, but I’m trying to climb it.

Mixing things up again…what DVD should we add to our summer viewing list? We just rented Miss Congeniality II the other day and I thought it was light and cute and sweet, similar to the first one, but maybe a wee bit better. One of my favorites out of our collection that is so heartwarming to me is the David Duchovny/Minnie Driver movie “Return to Me”. Very charming and sweet in an old-fashioned kind of way.

Tuesday Twosome Meme

Tuesday Twosome

1. What are your two main sources for news? (TV, cable, internet, etc.) Internet and TV

2. While in the car, do you prefer music or talk radio? Why? Music, totally, I don’t listen to talk radio

3. More annoying: commercials or “witty banter” between DJs? Why? Witty banter is more annoying to me. I’d rather have music, but I’d rather hear ads for stuff than most of the DJ’s inane banter

4. More useful in the morning: Weather forecast or traffic reports? Why? For me personally, it’s the weather. No more commute for me! πŸ˜†

5. What two things cause you to get angry while driving? Explain. People who block intersections at red lights and people who pull out in front of me too close and make me slam on brakes. Hate those, both of them.

Monday Madness Meme

Monday Madness Meme

1. What book are you currently reading? Nothing at the moment. I’ve read 19 since the Super Bowl ended and although I’m ready to get back into reading, I’m going to stop for a bit and concentrate on a) going through old magazines piled up and cleaning them out and b) trying to get back into my scrapbooking

2. Have you ever experienced the loss of a pet? How did you deal with it? Would you get a new pet, and why? Yes, I took the loss of Sally very very hard. I’ve been ready to get another dog for over 1 1/2 years now, but Tim is not ready. No cats, but I want a dog!

3. Is anyone in your family in the armed services? Not currently. My father served in the Navy, Tim’s dad served in the Army, and Tim served in the Air Force, so we’re pretty well represented. Tim and I are both very patriotic.

4. If you have or have had a girlfriend/boyfriend, did you tell your parents about her/him without them prying for the information? Usually, I always tried to be fairly forthcoming with my parents about most things. I think I told them about Tim after we’d been dating a month or two and knew it was serious.

5. What was your favorite childhood pet and tell me a few things about it. Chessie, my first golden retriever. She was smart, sweet, perpetually happy like all goldens. She used to sit on the patio and put her head up on the brick ledge looking in the back glass door, and sit and watch what was going on in the den, where all her “people” were. She always looked so sad and I know she was just thinking, why don’t they come outside and PLAY with me!

6. Have you ever been in love? Yes. For over 10 years now with the world’s greatest guy. πŸ˜€

7. What’s your favorite activity? Hmm, any time I spend with Tim is great, but I’m a serious computer/Internet addict. Obviously.

Sunday Brunch Meme – A Day Late

Sunday Brunch Meme

1) What is your favorite fast food restaurant? Sonic

2) How many times per week do you eat fast food? We try to be good and only eat it once every couple of weeks. It varies with our schedule and time of year (during football season, for example, we eat it more often because we grab food on the drive down to football games, eat it more on vacation, etc)

3) Describe your favorite fast food meal. Give me a Sonic #1 burger (mayo) with no tomato, with fries and a cherry limeade

4) Do you always Super-Size your meal? Never. Tim usually super-sizes his drink, because he takes in a lot of liquids. πŸ˜€

5) What is your least favorite fast food restaurant? Probably Hardees or Ward’s. Ick. Had a chili dog one time at Wards way back in my college days and it made me a very sick little girl.

Friday Meme #2

And, another one that I swiped from Stacy’s blog “Outwit, Outblog, Outsnark.” I love her blog! Thanks Stacy!

Aloha Friday Meme

Everyone’s got a closet or drawer full of t-shirts. What do some of yours say or where are they from?

Let’s see… one of my favorite ones is an old soft Peacekeeper t-shirt of Tim’s from (oh, about) 15 years ago. πŸ™‚ Another one that I have almost outgrown (and Tim used to wear it, in the military), is a red one with his nickname on it — Hambone! πŸ˜€ Also, I have tons of Old Navy flag t-shirts, as we buy a new one every year for the 4th of July. Some of my other faves are ones from the Gluckstadt German Festival here every fall, some USM ones, and an old one from an Eric Clapton concert we went to in the late 90’s (97 or 98).

What are some of your favorite movie quotes?

I have mosted of them listed in the Random Quote file on the homepage of Hambones. Tim and I love several of the ones from O Brother (Do NOT Seek the Treasure, and “Those coppers will never take me alive”). I also love a bunch from Lord of the Rings, including the one where Strider (Aragon) explains about the Nazgul and how they seek the ring. I love Boromir’s line as he is dying, to Aragorn “I would have followed you My Brother, My Captain, My King”. Oh, and “As you Wish” from Princess Bride. And I love doing the “Ghost” thing and telling Tim “Ditto” when he says he loves me or says something sweet. πŸ™‚ And the list goes on and on. There are several from Matrix I like, and “You can’t HANDLE the truth” from “A Few Good Men”.

Go to the homepage of Hambones and keep hitting refresh and it will cycle through several of them. I have lots of other quotes on there, from books and poems and stuff too, but a lot of them are from movies. We watch a LOT of movies!

Spread the spirit of aloha…whom should we visit this week? Why, Stacy of course!

Friday Meme #1

I haven’t done a meme in a while, since before we left on vacation. I sorta miss doing them, I like some of them a lot!

Here’s two for today… The first one comes from this site:

1. How did you learn about yesterday’s bombings in London? Tim and I got up and went walking at 6 AM. When we got in, we got a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and we always sit down in the den and turn on the morning news (or Tim will often watch ESPN or the History Channel, but I prefer the news). It was, of course, splashed over every national and cable channel. Horrible.

2. Do you have any personal connections to the area? None, except a lifelong desire to visit London, all of England and Scotland. The one place I want to go before I die. I’m a serious Anglophile.

3. Do you use public transportation? Not normally. However, we just got back from our vacation to Washington DC, where we rode the Metro several times a day. There weren’t any men toting rifles when we were there, or police with bomb-sniffing dogs, although I know they are there now.

Three Things Meme

OK, here we go again! What three things can you not leave home without?

My answers:

1. wallet
2. sunglasses
3. cell phone

Although, my new iPod might make that list soon! I don’t always have keys, because half the time I’m riding with Tim and I don’t take my car keys.

Lots of Memes!

I just went and looked at a couple of meme sites that I usually check during the week – and I found several that I like and want to do.

I know most of you don’t enjoy the memes (but I do like them, and it’s my blog, yada yada yada!!), so I won’t list them here. You can check the -More- link if you do, however, and you’re more than welcome to play along and put your answers in a reply. πŸ™‚ Have fun!
