Feast One Hundred & Seventy-Seven

Appetizer
How many times per day do you usually laugh? I have no idea! At least 20, maybe more. I’m always laughing at the TV or Tim or Beau or something 🙂

Soup
What do your sunglasses look like? Plain average black frames. They are polarized though. I always have to have them with me. I can’t be outside with the glare or sun without my glasses.

Salad
You win a free trip to anywhere on your continent, but you have to travel by train. Where do you go? I don’t know. If we have to leave from our city, then I’d probably say up to Chicago. If we could depart from anywhere, then I’d say up in the Pacific Northwest or maybe down the Washington, Oregon and California coast.

Main Course
Name one thing you consider a great quality about living in your town/city. I love that all of our restaurants are smoke-free. I love that we have a strict building code and all of the buildings look really nice and have limited signage.

Dessert
If the sky could be another color, what color do you think would look best? The sky is blue. I don’t even want to think about changing it. It’s the way God made it and I’m happy with the beauty of it. Ok, Tim said to say black, like at night. LOL!

What is your favorite beverage? Hmm, I don’t have a favorite one. I love lots of things, I’m a big *drinker*! I like OJ and coffee in the morning, sweet tea and Coke Zero and even this time of year, some hot herbal tea with Splenda added in the evenings. 🙂

Soup
Name 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work. I don’t currently have a desk. I’ll use my area in the living room though – a spindle of Lightscribe CD’s, my Dazzle card reader, and my iPod cable to connect it to my PC

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are? I think I’m pretty honest and straightforward. I’d give myself an 8

Main Course
If you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why? OK, I looked up a list of world capitals (check it out here), and I was astonished at how many of these I had not heard of. I always thought the name Constantinople was better than Istanbul, but what do I know?!

Dessert
What stresses you out? What calms you down? Lots of things stress me out. Tim tends to have a very calming influence on me.

What was the last game you purchased? Hmmm, well we haven’t had a game console since the original Playstation. So it would have to be a board or card game. I bought a deck of Phase 10 cards last year and we have never opened them and played them 🙁 We’re not big into games here. Tim doesn’t like playing games with just the two of us. I ask a lot but always get turned down 🙁

If you could choose a celebrity to be your boss, who would you pick? Hmm, maybe Rachael Ray or Robin Roberts from GMA. Got an “RR” thing going there, huh?!

What was a lesson you had to learn the hard way? Never dare Tim. He will do everything in his power to prove you wrong 🙂

Dessert
Describe your idea of the perfect relaxation room. Maybe a cozy living room with big cushy comfy furniture. Soft music playing in the background. A big chair with ottoman where I could curl up to read. Next to a fireplace 🙂

Appetizer
What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride? I’m not big on the rides, so it would be a tame one. I like to go around in a big circle, fairly fast and at a bit of an angle or incline… something like the Matterhorn, I think it is called (at our local state fair). When we went to Disney, I loved several of the rides like Big Thunder Mountain. I did NOT like Tower of Terror because of the drop (fear of heights thing).

Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations? Poorly. I don’t like crowds and I don’t like “overly social” settings. I don’t like being uncomfortable either 🙂

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics? With Tim, probably a 7 or 8. With other people, probably much lower like a 3 or 4. I don’t like controversy and I don’t like hurting other people’s feelings, so I tend to avoid talking about controversial or deep topics that people often have strong feelings about.

Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to? Nope. I got one, years ago, and got the flu. I know you’re not supposed to be able to get the flu from it, but I did that year and it was awful. I haven’t had a shot since, nor have I had the flu since! I figure, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 😀

Dessert
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television? Oh wow, too many. Probably 4 hours or more a day, if you count the Today Show in the AM, occasionally Rachael Ray in the morning and Oprah in the afternoon, and our nighttime shows and football. TV is my main form of entertainment, that, reading and movies 🙂

What was your first “realâ€? job? I got a job when I was about 13, working as a receptionist at a photography studio. I filed stuff, made appointments, showed people into the photography rooms (this guy mostly did people portraits and school portraits). I was ecstatic to be making “my own” money at that age!

Where would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity? I’m not very creative, but I do love to take photographs. So anywhere that is very picturesque, with lots of interesting things to snap, good colors, fun stuff.

Complete this sentence: I am embarrassed when… I am embarrassed when I trip and fall or do something klutzy and someone sees me being clumsy.

What values did your parents instill in you? My parents instilled a lot of wonderful things in me – the value of a good education, that you should work hard, take care of the things you have, and be frugal. I try to be a good steward of all that I have been blessed with.

Which snack do you like to get when you go to the movies? Ooh, easy one. Popcorn. I love eating popcorn at the movie theater. I like eating it at home when we crank up a movie in the DVD player. At home, I’m good and eat plain popcorn sprayed with fat free butter spray. At the movies, we splurge 🙂

What year did you start using the internet? I think in 1995. It’s been a LONG time!

What is your first name in Pig Latin? (Here’s how to speak it if you don’t already know!) Tasy-say. I think.

Name something you are picky about. The better question might be what I’m NOT picky about! I’m particular about being on time, about things being in their right place (towels hung up on the rack in the bathroom, utensils in the kitchen, clothes in the clothes hamper and not strewn on the floor, etc). I’m particular about quite a few things, actually. 🙂

How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season? Well, we don’t set an overall budget, but we do set a budget range for each person in the family. As for Tim and I, we don’t budget for each other. I think we’re going to spend more this year though, based on what Tim said he wants to get for Christmas

What was the last television show you watched, and was it good? We watched Survivor: China last night. I really enjoyed it! One of the players thought she had the immunity idol and she didn’t, and it was a hoot.

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose? We’re actually going to do this soon, hopefully over the winter months. Probably just a nice normal khaki or beige color. We have textured walls in this house, which I detest and Tim loves, and paint doesn’t go on the same ways as it does on smooth walls. We’ll have to see how it looks and might have to get a different color. We’re thinking about painting one wall a different color, but not sure about that right now.

Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet.Tim is always thinking of things, me not so much. I’m not very inventive. Ok — I asked Tim and he said he didn’t want to give away any of his inventions, so I will have to pass on this one

Name a great website you would recommend to others. Nothing new here, but I really like AllRecipes.com and RecipeZaar for recipes. Tim likes the Kim Komando site for PC and electronic related stuff (www.komando.com).

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 as highest), how often do you dream at night? Probably just a 3 or so. I don’t think that I dream a lot. I know for sure I rarely remember them.

Salad
Did you have a pet as a child? If so, what kind and what was its name? When I was really little, my sister Suzanne had a dachshund named Dusty. We didn’t have him all that long, because he got run over by a car. I got a golden retriever when I was about 12, and she was all mine. I loved that dog dearly. She passed away of old age after I had graduated college. I still miss her 🙂

If you had the chance to star in a commercial, what would you choose to advertise? Gosh, I don’t know! Maybe Walmart or Sam’s or Target, since I go there all the time!

What is your favorite kind of hard candy? Hmm, not big on hard candy. I don’t like hard peppermint (but I love the soft ones), but I do like cinnamon and sometimes butterscotch. I bought some Werther’s coffee flavored caramels a few weeks ago, and I love those. So yeah, those!

If you were a dog, what breed would you be, and why? Oh, I’d be a golden retriever. They are loyal, happy and love their owners unconditionally

What does the color purple make you think of? Royalty. Or occasionally that movie and book 🙂

Approximately how long does it take you to get ready each morning? About 45 minutes to an hour, depending on where I’m going and what kind of clothes, make-up are involved 🙄

Main Course
How many cousins do you have, and are you close to them? OK, this opens up a whole different can of worms. I had one uncle I knew, and one I did not. The one I never had any contact with (he and my dad were not on speaking terms), had 3 children, I think, so they would be my cousins. However, I don’t know their names and have never met them. I grew up without an extended family – never really seeing uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. Then, I marry Tim. Tim who has a huge family. His mom is one of 8 and his dad one of 5. He literally has dozens of cousins. I tried to count them one time and wasn’t sure I got them all. I think I counted 27 or 28 first cousins. I’d be hard pressed to name them, but I’ve met almost all of them through the years. I know some of them pretty well, he had some really great cousins 🙂

When was the last time you were surprised? Probably the last time Tim came in from work with something from Sonic for me. I think it was a caramel mocha Java Chiller 🙂

If you were a Beanie Baby, what would you look like and what would your name be? You know, I’ve never paid any attention to Beanie Babies. I know nothing about them. However, I was going to answer Sweet Pea (since I thought maybe I might be considered sweet). Tim said that I should say “Booger” and leave it at that. 😛

Main Course
Name two things you consistently do that you consider to be healthy habits. I try to walk fairly often, I try to drink water every day, and I stay away from most red meat and almost all fried foods.

What brand of toothpaste are you using these days? Do you like it? Why or why not? We’ve always used Crest. Right now, we have some regular paste and some of the Cinnamon Rush gel. Yummy! 🙂

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you look forward to your birthday? Oooh, what a timely question, since mine is coming up later this month! Let’s see, before I met Tim, I didn’t care much about my birthday. But, now that I have him to drop hints to, I have a big time and always look forward to it 😀 I’d say about a 7 or 8 now.

What is one word you don’t like the sound, spelling, or meaning of? Gosh, I’m sure there’s a lot of these and much better choices, but for whatever reason, the only word I can think of right now is abominable. I have trouble pronouncing and spelling that word. I’m sure there’s more 🙂 There’s lots of words I do like though (like lagniappe, conundrum, queue and others) 😀

Do you wear sunglasses when you’re outside? If so, what does your current pair look like? Always. My eyes are very sensitive to the light and sun. I get a headache if I go outside for very long and it’s bright or glary. It even bothers me if its cloudy outside. I have to have sunglasses.

What’s the scariest weather situation you’ve experienced? Nothing very scary, thankfully. The worst was Hurricane Katrina. The wind and the sound of it got to me after several hours.

When was the last time you got a free lunch (or breakfast or dinner)? Who paid for it? Let’s see, last week, my dad bought mine and my sister’s lunch when we drove down to visit him for the day. And Tim took me out to dinner, on a date, last weekend 🙂

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how emotional are you? Not overly, maybe a 4 or 5?

Main Course
Approximately how long do you spend each day responding to emails? Gosh, I don’t know, I’ve never really thought about it. Some days, I just let it pile up and barely glance at it. Then, after a couple of days and my inbox piles up, I’ll sit down and go through it, replying, deleting and filing emails.

Dessert
To what temperature do you usually set your home’s thermostat? In the summer, way up on 80. On the winter it’s way down on about 62 or something (at night, higher in the day). Our thermostat in this house was installed in the worst possible place – right outside the front bedroom, which faces west with it’s very large window. Heat streams in all summer long and the thermostat never thinks it cools off. They should have put the thermostat somewhere towards the middle of the house. At least away from a big window that lets sunlight and heat in 🙄

When was the last time you visited a hospital? Let’s see.. probably when Tim’s grandmother had her heart scare and had a pacemaker installed. That was in July and we both spent a lot of time up there.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how ambitious are you? Good grief, I’m so unambitious, it’s not even funny. About a 1 or a 2 🙂

If you were to start a club, what would the subject matter be, and what would you name it? Mine would have to be a book club. Reading seems to be my favorite hobby of late and I have been reading voraciously this year. Let’s see… I have a hard time naming things. It took me a couple of months to name this blog, so it might take me a while to come up with a book club name. OK, Tim came up with one, we’d call it “The Last Page”. 🙂

What is your favorite part about the season of Autumn? Cooler temps, football, our birthdays and the ensuing holidays, just to name a few.

Have you ever had any bad experiences online? Not really, at least nothing that I can think of right now. (Of course, my head feels like a watermelon (sinus), so I could just not be thinking of something that’s relevant)

What one household cleansing or organizing item would you not want to be without? Hmmm, good question. Hard to pick just one. Maybe my Dustbuster? For vacuuming up bits of hair and dirt that we track in (especially Beau). Or 4-09 cleaner. I use a lot of that 🙂
