Cuties

I don’t know why I’ve always walked by these in the grocery store every year, and never picked any up to try. This year, I rectified that and bought a bag of Cuties Clementines a week or so ago. And… I really like them!

I think it’s a nostalgia thing for me. I am pretty sure that Santa put an orange in my stocking every year, growing up. I remember thinking the oranges were O.K., but I wasn’t fond of the peel and all the seeds. Maybe later, Santa switched to tangerines. And those were better, but these little Clementines are good! They’re small, so a good size for portion control, and easy to get into.

So, how about you… is there a food that is really nostalgic for you this time of year? Something your mom or grandma always made, or put in your stocking, or you always got to have this time of year? Leave me a comment and let me know!

P.S. ALL of my presents are wrapped, I’m dancing a happy jig over here! 🙂

  1. dianne Said,

ah, those look so good. my nostalgic food would probably be nutrolls. my gram made them every year and now i do.

would you believe i have not one gift yet? i’m making scarves & hats for all the nieces and nephew, and have 1-2 other gifts started. but otherwise, nothing. i’m in denial. 🙁

  2. Suzanne Said,

We love those, too. And yes, Santa did put an orange in your stocking. He did that in mine, too, and still does!

  3. Laura Said,

We love Cuties… since the only fruit Andrew has liked for over a year are oranges and pineapple, they are often a staple in our house. Santa put oranges in my mom’s stocking when she was growing up, but it wasn’t something that happened for us. I sometimes get an orange in mine, though. 😉

But OH yes, I have a nostalgic food – my mom’s taco dip mold. It’s really just a layered bean dip, but she puts it in a round bundt mold so it comes out in a beautiful, festive circle (like a wreath). Then she puts the sour cream in the center. 🙂

  4. Deanna Said,

I can’t wait for these clementines to show up in the grocery stores every year. I LOVE them and can eat them all day long.

We used to always have an orange in the toe of our stocking along with a few nuts and peppermint.

  5. mamichelle Said,

We’re not an orange kind of family. I always remember peach blossoms (candy) from my nana’s house. They’re the peanut butter filled candy with a peach coating. That and ribbon candy.

  6. Karen Said,

My daughter LOVES these little cuties! They are sweet and good, and I don’t care for fruit, but like these.

My nostalgia food at Christmas is my mom’s Christmas cookies. Especially the Russian Teacakes. They’re the best, and it isn’t Christmas without them.

Hope you’re all ready! Merry Christmas, Stace!

  7. Desert Songbird Said,

I can’t believe you had never eaten these before. Really?!
