Well, last week my Thursday Thirteen post was a list of ideas to help my husband buy me a birthday present. My birthday was Wednesday, and it was a really great birthday. 😆 I got to see my sister and go shopping with her (thanks Gail!), and I bought myself a couple of little happies. And got a Maple Macchiato from Starbucks, yum 😀 Then, when I got home, my husband surprised me with a small chocolate cake, and a coffee table full of presents! He did really good, and got over half of the things on my list, which was way more than I expected!
So, as a combination birthday follow-up and Thursday Thirteen, here’s Thirteen Things I got for my Birthday:
1. On Tuesday, my husband gave me an early present from a new candy store that just opened up near our house. I blogged about it here – it’s some yummy chocolate nut fudge!
2. In the mail, I got a very sweet (from my in-laws) and a very funny (from my dad) birthday card, with money enclosed, to go spend on whatever I want 😀
3. From my sister Gail, who came and spent the afternoon with me and went shopping with me, I got some Bath and Body Works stuff:
4. While out shopping, I bought myself a red purse:
5. And a little happy, a new magazine (have never bought this RR one before, so I’m looking forward to checking it out!)
6. When I got in, Tim was standing in the kitchen, holding a little chocolate birthday cake, with the candle lit, singing Happy Birthday to me!
7. Then, he got a call on his cell phone, from a lady he had contacted… he called about a dog! We’re going to look at him on Friday, so maybe we’ll have a new member of the family soon!!!! 
Then, I started opening presents…
8. First was a bag with some Life is Good products – I LOVE and ADORE their stuff! The t-shirt has a dog on it, and also in the bag are some green snuggle socks, and a dog toy! The dog toy was supposed to be my big surprise, but the lady called right when I walked in the door and I heard him talking about the dog and it ruined his surprise. He was bummed, but I told him it was fine, I was still surprised and very excited!
9. Next up, a bag with some books I had asked for, YIPPEEE!! I love books
10. Then, a bag from the same candy store that opened up, where he got my fudge. It contained a box of a dozen truffles, hand selected by Tim! He knows I don’t like coconut, so he picked them all out individually to make sure I didn’t get any with coconut! I haven’t tried them all yet, but he says there are caramel ones, chocolate ones, cherry ones, cappuccino ones, etc. I can’t wait to eat them all!!!!!!!
11. A very heavy bag contained two large housewarmer candles from Yankee Candle Company. Tim knows how much I love these things, and so he went to the mall to pick me some out. Yeah!!
12. This one was a total surprise, as it wasn’t really on my list. It was on my Amazon list, but it has been on there for like 18 months, so I was shocked! The last time we were near a huge outlet mall, I bought a bunch of stuff in Harry and David, including this relish that we just love. We eat it with chips on game day. You mix it with cream cheese and it’s soooo good!
13. Last, but certainly not least, my big present, except for maybe getting a new dog… he got me an iPod clock radio! Now, I can charge my iPod and listen to it through the speakers, without having to have my ear plugs in all the time. We’ve already set it up, and I love it so far. I can still listen to the radio, still have an alarm clock, and now I can do all the charging and playing I want with my iPod. Yippee!!!!
My other sister Suzanne ordered me something from my Amazon list, and I got an email that it is being shipped, but it hasn’t gotten here yet. So, I didn’t have a picture of that to post. Thanks Suzanne! 🙂
So, you see, I had a great birthday! Tim knows these silly things like birthdays and anniversaries are kind of important to me, so he really puts a lot of effort into it (most of the time, he’s had a few lapses here and there). I think that he’s just a peach, and I think I’m going to keep him!

Love the Pumpkin spice candle, I just asked my husband for one for Sweetest Day. I used the advice you gave me about making a list for him, incorporated it into a card and told him everything I wanted, then on the back I said not everything was expected but would be greatly appreciated. I even made an ** by one thing and said it was required. He got a great chuckle out of that one! I will let you know how that works out for me. Thanks for sharing! I love reading your blog.
