Gourmet Steak N Shrimp Kew

Another busy day – Tim does so love to stay busy on the weekends! That Type A personality in constant motion.

He did a bunch of woodworking, painted the gas grill, worked on the car, and various and sundry other tasks. I did some stuff in the house and finished my latest book (Shopaholic Ties the Knot – gotta do the review soon). We went and ran some errands. Went to Sam’s and got the aforementioned 7 dollar sweatshirts to put up for next year. Tim got one more and I got two! 🙂 Gotta love big comfy slouchy sweatshirts to lounge around in while watching football 😀 Then we went to Home Depot and got some woodworking stuff and also some replacement landscape lights.

Afterwards, …

Breezy Saturday

Geesh, it sure is cool and breezy outside today. We had such an early Easter, and I knew there was a little bit of cool weather left. It’s supposed to be in the upper 30’s again tonight, and the wind is really chilly outside this morning.

We had originally thought we might work in the yard some today (well, I thought, but I don’t think Tim agreed!), but the weather has convinced me to stay inside. Tim is going to work outside on the vehicles and his woodworking. I’m going to do some cleaning up, paperwork, and organizing today. And – hopefully – read my book! Like I told Tim, woodworking is a hobby, so is reading, so I can do my hobby too! 😀

I’m about halfway through my latest book “Shopaholic Ties the Knot” and it’s funny and very entertaining – so much so that I really don’t want to put it down!

April Fools Day

So far, this day has been uneventful, except in world news. No April Fools jokes played on me, or anything like that. 🙂 It’s quiet here in my little corner of the world. Grey and cloudy outside and looks like it could rain any minute. I’m staying home today, after being gone most of yesterday and half of last night. Gotta catch up on laundry and stuff around here.

The failing health of the pope is on the news right now. Yesterday, it was the coverage of Terry Schiavo’s death. Today, it appears the pope will not last much longer. He has been the pope for such a long time, isn’t it like 24 or 26 years? I can hardly remember the pope before him, and barely remember when he was elected and became John Paul II. Even though we’re not Catholic, I’m very interested in things like this, it’s the history buff in me. Rather morbid, I know, but still very interesting.

An early date night

Well, after I had lunch with Daddy, he left heading home to Hattiesburg. I had some errands to run, and went to a few stores off County Line. I got home in the late afternoon and Tim surprised me by getting off early and getting home not too very long after I did. 🙂

He came in and offered to take me out to dinner – wow, two meals out in one day, now that’s a treat! I already had stuff out for supper, but I’m not one to turn down a free meal, and he seemed like he wanted to go, so off we went. We had supper at Garfields – Tim’s choice. Tim did really good and ate a big salad (the chicken quesadilla one he had there last time), since he has to weigh-in at work tomorrow. I was still really full from eating out lunch with Daddy, so I just had the chicken quesadillas off the appetizer menu. It was good, and I enjoyed our early date night out! We had a lot of fun tonight, drawing on the white paper tablecloth that they put out on the tables there. We played tic-tac-toe, and the connect the dot/draw a box game. Tim beat me pretty much every single time we played! 🙂

A trip to the VA

Highlight of the day – I got to see my dad!!

He drove up early this morning from Hattiesburg for an 8:00 appointment at the VA hospital here. They ran a CT scan on the carotid artery on the left side of his neck. He had the right side operated on last year, when it was about 70-80% blocked. They have been checking the left side since then, and a Doppler test in late Feb revealed a 60-80% blockage. They wanted to do a CT scan to check. Since he was driving from so far away, they scheduled him for the CT scan first thing, then said they would do an “emergency read” and scheduled him for an 11:20 appointment in the vascular clinic to get the results. But, of course, they didn’t have it ready.

Now, I think the VA is a great thing. Don’t get me wrong. I really do. They do a great job taking care of all of our veterans. Including my dad, my father-in-law and possible one day, my husband (proud USAF vet that he is!). And for that, we are grateful. They have done really well with preventitive and maintenance type stuff on my dad and FIL both. Daddy has had his carotid surgery there, and a colonoscopy, and they have his cholesterol regulated now. Plus, he got new digital hearing aids last fall. All great. But, they are not the fastest organization on the planet! Normally, it takes 10-14 days (or more) to hear anything back from them. So, going in, I was already skeptical as to their promise of an “emergency read”.

Wednesday Night

Not a whole lot going on to blog about. I’ve got to get up in the AM and head down to the VA to meet my dad. He has a test run on his carotid tomorrow morning to check for blockage. He had the left side operated on last year, and I think it’s time to do the right side.

We went walking tonight then watched some of our favorite tv shows. There was a new Lost on tonight, then a new Alias. Then we watched the premiere of the new show on ABC after those two called “Eyes”. It was pretty good. Not that we need to add any more TV shows! And darn it, I forgot to tape the Idol results show. I think I just read on another blog who got voted out. Will have to double check tomorrow.

I’m off to read my book for a bit before going to sleep. Night 🙂

Monday night

Not too much going on. Today was super-busy. I felt better earlier today, but I’m feeling crummy again now. I wonder why I feel so much worse, and cough so much more, at the end of the day. Nights are rough!

Big accomplishment for the day: grocery shopping and menu planning are done, walked in the afternoon

Number of steps on the pedometer: 13,387

Drinking less caffeine – good today, no coffee or cappucino, tea for lunch, water for supper. Also drank water before meals

What I wanted to do today but didn’t get time for: 1) refilling the bird feeder and 2)uploading pictures to the Photo Gallery

TV shows we watched – tonight was slow, only one (24)! 😀 Tomorrow is different – Idol and House on Fox, NCIS and Race on CBS. Plus, Tim has to work tomorrow night

Odd item I forgot to blog about earlier: Tim installed the new shower massage head thingie in our shower on Saturday. Whew, what a difference it makes. I love taking showers now!

Easter Weekend

I’m really late blogging about our Easter weekend. Just been really busy and still trying to get over this sinus stuff. I think I’m starting to turn the corner though, and feel better. 🙂

We left Saturday afternoon for Tim’s parents house. As we were pullling out, he called his mom on his cell phone to see if she needed us to stop and pick up anything (she didn’t), and as he was talking, my cell phone rang, and it was Tim’s brother Terry. He wanted us to go to Home Depot and get some wiring stuff. That little side trip (a funny story in itself) took about an hour and put us later than we had planned on getting there. We did beat the rain though, but a couple of hours after we got there, it started raining and storming and it was a rough night.

Almost Easter

Well, it’s almost Easter for us. The cake is in the oven and we’ll be packing up and heading out in about an hour or two for the in-laws.

I still don’t feel that great. My throat sort of feels like it has ground up glass in it, if you can imagine. I can’t think of a better way to describe it. My head sort of feels like a melon pressing too hard up against a window. HUH? 🙂 I have discovered one thing – this stuff is concentrated in my upper chest and throat. If I lie flat, like on a bed, it tends to pool and I end up coughing every few minutes. I finally figured that out after two nights of not sleeping much at all. Last night, I propped up several pillows on the couch and slept nearly upright, and it was much better. A lot better for Tim too. Not sure how that’s going to work tonight on an air mattress on the floor at the in-laws…. I think I see another couch night in my future!

It’s supposed to storm here later. Better go so we can get out ahead of the bad weather and rain. Hope everyone has a great Easter! Be back tomorrow afternoon late, after the get-together. 😀

Date Night

We’ve been out to eat on Friday night for 3 or 4 weeks in a row now, and I am getting pretty spoiled. I really like it!

Today was no exception. Tim got off about an hour early and came home and mowed the weeds. Not the grass, mind you, just the weeds. They are everywhere. I swear, I think they are choking out the grass! 🙂 We went and had dinner at Cinco de Mayo. Tim had his usual (carne asada) and I had the shrimp quesadillas. I think they forgot about our order, because by the time it got to the table, it was almost cold. 🙁 We went to Home Depot after that, then Marshalls and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Still picking up odds and ends for the bathroom. And Tim decided to get a new shirt for Easter. I have my dress picked out (new – golden yellow with pink and purple flowers and green leaves) and ironed him a shirt to match it today (yellow). Well, he said he dislikes (intensely) that yellow shirt and didn’t want to wear it. So we compromised and got him a green one. He wouldn’t even look at a yellow or pink one .

Just finished watching part 1 of the season finale of Battlestar Galactica. I am so going to miss that show. I hope it comes back on later in the summer and we don’t have to wait till fall for new episodes.

I probably won’t blog much this weekend. Might have a chance to pop in tomorrow morning, but not for long. I have to make a cake, then pack, and hit the road for the in-laws. Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter! See ya Sunday night or Monday. 😀

Still not feeling good

Well, I’m still not feeling very good today. I think it’s a massive sinus thing evolving inside my head. I am having a lot of trouble sleeping, and my throat and head hurt all the time, 24 hours a day. No matter if I take Tylenol or anything else. Argh. I guess it’s the weather – I often get this sinus gunk when the weather shifts in the fall and spring. Today is supposed to be 80 degrees and pretty. Tomorrow it is supposed to storm – I hope it doesn’t ruin Easter.

Not going to do much blogging today… I might do one or two memes later. I saw a couple of good ones this morning.

Have a wonderful Good Friday, anyone out there, and a Happy Easter. 😀

Not much to blog about

Well, I don’t have anything interesting to blog about (and you know what that means, a meme is probably forthcoming! 🙂 ). I had a ton to blog about yesterday, perhaps I should have stretched it out a bit, and not written about all of it last night! Yesterday was a busy day, and either I wore myself out, or else I’m coming down with something. Or maybe both. I don’t feel very well today. Not at all.

I, however, have no right to gripe. Tim was up till about 3:30 last night, working on their code implementation. He said that there were a few problems and that’s why he was so late. Said they were all fixed, and they had touched every line of code they have, and he seemed to be really pleased about it.

OK, time for one meme, then I’m outta here. It is a pretty day, today, downright spring-like. 🙂

Worn Out

Wow, it’s almost 10 PM and this is the first time I have had a chance all day to sit down and check my email and try to blog. Well, other than the few minutes this morning, when I did the trivia on Hambones. I wanted to get yesterday’s answers posted and new questions up before I left.

I was gone almost all day today, and am fairly worn out. It was a good day though!

The Highlights – went shopping with Gail most of the day. I had a blast! It’s so nice to go shopping with someone else sometime (no offense Tim, I know how much you hate to go clothes shopping with me, which is why I try not to drag you much 🙂 ) It helps me to have other people see the clothes I try on, and say “that looks good on you, or that doesn’t look good, or that doesn’t look like it fits, or whatever”. I’m so indecisive and every little bit helps, plus it’s just more fun to go shopping with someone else! 😀 We went to Linens-N-Things, Target, Steinmart, Kohls, 2 shoe stores, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Whew! We also stopped in at McAlisters for lunch (had a turkey melt and fruit, it was de-licious!) I got clothes at Steinmart (2 shirts and some cute pink and green flip flops), then I hit the mother lode at Kohl’s. They were having a one day sale, plus I had my handy-dandy gift card that came in the mail to use. So I bought a bunch of shirts there. Who’s counting, but I think it was 6! 😀 I got more stuff for our bathroom at Marshalls and BB&B (a different kind of roman shade, new towels, and some wicker stuff).

Rain Rain, Go Away

Well, it’s just been horribly dreary and rainy here all day. Perfect day to stay home and read a book! So that’s what we have been doing. I just finished reading “The Guardian” by Nicholas Sparks. Tim is still reading “The Broker” by Grisham. I need to go write a review on Hambones for my book. I’m not sure if I will start my last one today or not – I checked 3 out of the library about 2 weeks ago and I have finished two of them.

We’re watching MS State play Duke (March Madness) on TV and so far they are not doing well. Which is not surprising, it is Duke after all!

We have one more movie we rented left to watch – Ray. Should watch it later tonight. 🙂

In and Out

Another good day. Nothing overly eventful. Just like that ole country song goes, “just another day in paradise” 😀

David spent the night last night and we all slept in a bit since it’s a Saturday. We got up and made a big breakfast for the guys (I just ate cereal). Tim did most of the cooking, but I helped a bit. They had homemade biscuits, deer sausage, eggs and grits. David left a little while later, headed for the coast on spring break. I hope he has a safe trip! Tim worked for a while on the Hambones server, doing some partitioning work he had been wanting to do for a while. I stayed busy doing laundry, picking up, some paperwork and also doing some chores around here.

We hung the new Levolor rattan roman shade/blind in our bathroom. It looks good! I like the effect, but you can sort of see through it, so that is really weirding me out. Tim went outside and said you couldn’t see in through it, but I could see out pretty well. That is going to take some serious getting used to!
