Home, and Gone Again

We got home tonight from Gail’s – had a great Thanksgiving, tons of great food, got to see lots of family and hang out and visit. It was so good to see Trent, Shanna and the kids, as well as the rest of the family. We miss seeing everyone more often.

We’re headed out again in the morning, to Tim’s family. He’s looking forward to going deer hunting again.

Checked my email when I got in tonight and Linda sent an email that Zack shot his first deer, so we’re very excited for him! She sent pictures with blood smeared all over his face (yuck!) and everything 🙂 I’ll try to load those, plus the ones from Ethan’s party (yes, I’m a week behind) and Thanksgiving in the next week or so.

Happy Turkey day, one and all 🙂

We’re headed out to Gail’s in a little while. I might try to blog later today or tomorrow, not sure. Hope everyone has a great day!

The day before Turkey Day

Not a lot going on today… Hambones is quiet and the blogs are quiet and no fun memes to do today. That’s ok, I know everyone is busy getting ready for the big day. I’m about to go start that as well.

Tim is working from home today, and I have a lot of things to do around here. There’s the regular laundry and cleaning, plus today, I’m going to mop the new ceramic tile in the kitchen for the first time. We’ll see then how much I screwed it up when I walked on it after applying the sealer. We may seal it again, or we may just go with it. We’ll know more when it’s mopped.

Got some cooking to do later. Gail is doing the bulk of it, but we’re taking the broccoli cheese casserole and maybe a loaf of cranberry bread. Can’t wait to see everyone and hang out!

Gobble Gobble.

Hunting Widow

Today, I get to be a hunting widow. YEAH! Tim left a little while ago to go over to his parents and hunt again. You’d think after he killed that 9 point that he would be ok, but it just stokes the fires, I guess. 🙂

Headed out to the grocery store in a minute to pick up a few last minute items. Tomorrow is cooking day. Then, Thursday we get to drive up and see everyone – yippeee!

I’m going to watch some of our favorite shows tonight, without Tim. Looking forward to 3 back to back – NCIS, Amazing Race and our new favorite, Threshold, which they just moved from Fridays to Tuesdays. All great shows. I’ll have to tape them for Tim, but I’m going to be bad and watch them without him!

One of Those Days

Ever have one of those days when you can’t seem to do anything right? Where you wished you had just stayed in bed with the covers over your head?

I have. Today is one of those days.

Geesh, I hope tomorrow is better. Maybe everything I touch won’t break, I won’t mess everything up and things will go a little better.

P.S. I am not the only one, Tim has been on a conference call since 8 PM and I think they are having problems… 🙁

Opening Day Results

We had a long day yesterday, but good. Tim went hunting with Terry, Tony, Fred and some other people. Tim shot a 9 point buck and was pretty jazzed about it. We took the meat to the processors this afternoon.

I rode with Mitchell, Linda, Brittany and Zack to Hattiesburg to go to Ethan’s 3rd birthday party. We had a lot of fun, but had to leave early to get back. Mitchell shot a deer when he got back also (a small doe), so they all had a good day.

Click to see a deer picture… BEWARE – slightly bloody, very dead Bucky on the extended page. Consider yourself warned 🙂

Opening Day

Today is the day that Tim has been looking forward to for weeks, maybe months. The opening day of gun season for deer hunting. Plus, with the weather having turned colder, he’s doubly excited.

We’re headed out in a little bit for his parents. I’m going to ride with his parents down to Ethan’s birthday party (he turns 3 on Tuesday) and Tim, Terry and Tony (or, the 3 Musketeers as I call them) are going hunting.

We’ll probably be late getting back, so look for an update and maybe even a picture or two tomorrow! 🙂

Lunch for Two

I was out running errands this morning and had my favorite radio station blaring. They said “Caller number 3 wins lunch for two at Mazzios”, so I picked up the phone and dialed twice, never expecting to get in. But, I did and I was the right caller. So, I won a gift certificate for lunch for two at Mazzio’s buffet. We never go to Mazzio’s, but hey, it’s free, so that’s good enough for me! Now, I have to run over there this afternoon and pick it up! 🙂

I have won several things in the past off the radio, including (most notably) a trip to the Bahamas when I was 12 years old (I took my mom!) and a trip to Dallas to see the Dixie Chicks in concert (three years ago on my birthday). I also won an e-machine computer that I gave my mom several years ago. Then, there’s the misc food, cd’s and tickets that I’ve won over the years. But, I haven’t won anything lately. Chalk that up to the fact that I mostly listen to my iPod, music on my computer (iTunes through my speakers) or else Internet radio. I never have the radio on very long to hear them give things away! Oh well, at least I won a little something today!

Thursday PM

The new Chili’s in Madison opened up on Monday of this week, so last night, we decided to go check it out. Like most new restaurants, they still had people training, but they were definitely on their toes. The food was really good, service was great, and since we got there a little early, we got in and out in no time. There was a long line when we were leaving, so I know people were glad to see us get up from our table and head out!

We went to Lowe’s and got new thresholds for the doorways and more parts for the washer. Tim tried to hook up the washer last night and found that we need another new hose, so I’m headed out today to get that. Hopefully, he can get it hooked up later today and I can start in on this mound of laundry. I have never been this far behind, but if I had to guess, I’d say I have 9 or 10 loads to do. We’ve been going through so many clothes, normal clothes, work clothes for Tim, then at least one extra set, sometimes two, per day for every day we were working on laying the tile. You know it’s time to catch up when you’re about out of clean underwear. It’s either that, or head to the store to buy more!

Finished “Munich Signature”

Munich Signature by Bodie Thoene Last night after we finished with the grout, we hopped in the truck and ran to Sonic. We barely made it home in time to watch Lost. When we turned the TV on, the tail section was falling into the ocean, so I don’t think we missed anything. We rested and watched both Lost and Invasion.

After that, I settled in to read and finish my book. And I did! I finished “Munich Signature”, book 3 in the Zion Covenant series by Brock and Bodie Thoene. That makes #34 on the list for the year. My original goal was 30, and my modified goal was 35. Now, I have to return this book to the library and decide if I want to check out the next one in this series (these are looooong books!) or if I want to read one of the books I have here. I bought a Nicholas Sparks a few months ago that I have not read (“True Believer”) and now he has a new one out that I will probably add to my Amazon list. Plus, I have the book that Wendy recommended that Tim bought me for my birthday that I want to read (“90 Minutes in Heaven”). So, that’s my dilemma – whether to keep on with the Zion Covenant series or read some of the books I have here. I was going to stop after this one, but I’m so close to meeting my second goal of 35 books, that I feel compelled to read at least one more. I just know it’s going to be hard with all the birthdays and holidays and decorating and shopping that we have coming up. Sigh. Decisions, decisions! Tough life, I know. No bashing!

UPDATE: OK, problem solved. I found a paperback by Debbie Macomber of 2 Christmas short stories today when I went to Walmart. I picked that up, and will read that next. 🙂 Picture of the cover just added to my sidebar, look to the right ➡

Veterans Day

There is a lot I had wanted to say today about Veterans Day, the vets in our family, our troops, our President, and my general feelings of patriotism. Now that I’ve found time to sit down and write it all out, I seem to be at a loss for words. I want it to be eloquent and well said, and at the moment, I don’t feel like I could do it justice. I’ll try anyway, me being me….

Long Night

Poor Tim had a really long night. He started the regular Tuesday night conference call at 11 PM. I woke up several times during the night, and the lights were still on and I could hear him occasionally talking on the phone. Finally, about 5 AM, he came to bed and seemed totally exhausted. The phone rang about 5:40 and they needed him to get back up and work on another problem (or maybe the same problem, he didn’t say). He finally got to bed about 6:10 AM. So, he was up nearly 24 hours yesterday. Poor thing. He’s going to need a lot of sleep to catch up, but the bad thing is now that our timing is really off. I just hope he feels a lot better when he wakes up later today.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I thought I would jot down a few of the good and bad things that are going on around here for me, big and small things during the course of my day. I think I’ve been watching too much of Martha Stewart’s new daily talk show… the phrase “it’s a good thing” keeps reverberating through my brain! I do like her show though, and especially, this new feature she is doing every day in the month of November. It’s called “30 Things Everyone Should Know” and so far I’ve really enjoyed them.

I digress. Here’s some good, bad, and ugly things going on around here:

Good – giving out all the Halloween Candy on Monday night so it won’t be in the house to tempt us to eat more

Bad – finding Halloween candy marked down Tuesday at the store, and buying the ones I loved the most (Butterfinger Crisp) to bring home so we would have more candy in the house!

Ugly – the big zit I have on my face from eating all of said Halloween candy

Good – buying new sweats for the winter (tops, bottoms and even matching jackets for some!). Yeah for me! 😀

Bad – after washing said new sweats, going to put them in the drawer and finding new ones you had bought last year and forgotten about (ok, it’s just two pair of pants, but still, I forgot I had bought them!)

Good – making homemade soup for supper

Bad – that the soup is not healthy – full of potatoes, milk, cheese, no veggies, and the white bread (no whole grains) that we’ll be eating with said soup

Dear Diary – A Day Later

Dear Diary,

I’m sorry I haven’t written much lately. Life, and the pursuit of it, has gotten in the way of my writing (blogging). The last few days have been very busy, and the next few weeks promise to be even busier. But I’ll do my best to write it all down, Dear Diary.

P.S. You know how I am, I am terrible at writing in my diary (not my blog). I have 4 or 5 diaries from growing up (mostly teenage years), where I wrote a couple of entries in either January or February, then abandoned my poor diary until the next time I received one as a birthday or Christmas gift. I’m still holding myself to my promise for my blog – to get at least one entry entered per day. Good or bad, boring or not, at least something.

Read on to find out the nitty gritty of what we’ve been doing the last couple of days!

Dear Diary

Dear Diary,

I’ve been such a busy little bee the last few days. It’s tough going out to eat all the time, spending money, watching TV and eating lots of chocolate. Not to mention getting ready to start a big project around here.

I’ll try to write more tomorrow, Diary. 🙂

Good night.
