Dear George W Bush

Greetings Mr President:

Happy Birthday! We hope you had a great day today. We heard that you had a slight accident on your mountain bike today in Scotland. Hope you and the guy you collided with are both fine. Hope the G8 summit is going well. 😆

We certainly are sorry that we missed you Sunday afternoon at the White House. We saw Marine One flying back towards the South Lawn, bringing you back from Camp David. We had hoped you might have time to pop down from the residence and see us while we were in the West Wing. But we understand and appreciate how busy you are. Tim is almost over it now, he doesn’t talk and cry about it nearly as much as he did the first couple of days.

Seriously – we so enjoyed our trip to Washington DC. We loved going to the White House and standing at the edge of the Oval Office and looking in at the President’s Office. We are very big admirers of our current President. We respect him, and we support him. We are grateful that he has brought honor, integrity and respect back to our nation and its highest office. We are in complete support of his diligence to keep our nation safe, and the job he does as Commander in Chief. We support our troops, now and always. We have always both been very patriotic and supportive of the military, but even more so now in our post-911 world. We know that Freedom isn’t Free, and we honor and support the men and women who have, and who currently, protect our nation and the freedoms we enjoy. We are grateful that our current President is a man of faith and that he stands behind what he believes. That is a rare commodity in today’s world period, much less among our chosen leaders. We admire and respect George W. Bush, and we thank you, Mr President, for the burdens that you bear and the work that you do for all of us.

  1. Patti Said,

I really enjoyed the first part of this post, and I have to tell you that I totally agree with what you said in the last paragraph. You said so eloquently what our family feels, too!

  2. Gail Said,

    I second that!
but I knew that Tim wouldn’t get to see him! 😥
