Shopping for Vacation

I think one of the best things about going on a vacation, or even a long weekend like we are doing this Memorial Day weekend, is getting to go shopping and buy some new things! 😀 Nothing like an excuse to buy new clothes!

I headed out to Lakeland Drive this afternoon, and stopped first at LinensNThings to get my new Yankee Candle I’ve been wanting so desperately. I had a coupon, so I splurged and got a Juicy Cherry housewarmer candle for my kitchen. It smells soooo good. I almost got a honeydew melon instead, on Gail’s advice. She bought one earlier and it really does smell good, really fresh and clean. That one may be next! I almost caved and bought another one, they were featuring the Lemon Zest ones on special, and I nearly splurged, but was good. Which was a good thing, because I left and drove to Kohl’s. Where I proceeded to buy a whole lot more than the one or two pairs of shorts I went to buy. 😆

I tried on probably 8 or 10 pair of shorts, and finally decided on 3 – 2 pair of these Dockers Skorts – one in white and one in the light khaki. I should have gotten the black, but I don’t think they had one in my size. I also picked up one pair of denim shorts similar to these. They might be totally out of style, but I love denim shorts. Always have. Always will! 😀

I also got a bright pink and white floral halter top that I couldn’t find a picture of, to wear with my new white skort, a bright lemon yellow v-neck top (like one that Gail and I had bought earlier in the spring in bright pink), and a 2 piece lime green top (tank and sheer short sleeve button up shirt with leaves on it). I also got a pair of Nike flip-flops like these , except mine are black with hot pink stripes. Oh, and some new pink underwear and 2 cheap necklaces also found their way into my stash before we checked out! Whew, I really racked up

I say “we checked out”, because by this time, Tim had gotten off work and driven out to meet me. He helped me decide what to get, well, basically he said “get whatever you want, that all looks good!”, so I did 😀 Afterwards, we drove across the street to Logan’s, and had dinner. Starting our long vacation weekend early, you know. Tim ordered a ribeye with baked potato and salad, and I was good – I got the shrimp skewers, which had grilled shrimp, grilled zucchini, grilled red onion on a bed of rice pilaf. I got a salad too, and a side of steamed vegetables, which in this case, was just broccoli, but it was good! So, I felt like I did pretty good. Probably a whole lot better than what I will do while we’re in New Orleans.

We came home and have been staying busy doing “to-do’s”. I filled out all the rebate paperwork for all the gadgets we have bought in the last week, am doing two loads of laundry (it’s nearly 10:30 PM and the dryer is still hard at it), loaded the dishwasher, took out garbage, read the newspapers so they could go out in the recycles, etc. Tim has worked on Hambones quite a bit and is now channel-surfing. All in all, a very productive afternoon and evening.

We head out tomorrow, probably around lunch. See ya!
