Recap

This has been a busy weekend! Lots of good stuff though 🙂

– Date night Friday night was an in-house date. We went and picked up some fast food and then watched a Harry Potter movie (#3, Prisoner of Azkaban)

– Saturday morning – Tim played in the church golf tournament. I went walking with Beau and my neighbor and we walked a longer route than normal (3.25 miles).

– Late Saturday morning – I went and picked up my mother-in-law Linda and our niece Brittany, and we had a girls day out. We went shopping at Hobby Lobby and Kohl’s. We picked out a ton of cute new clothes for Brittany for school and I even splurged and got 2 new sets of scrapbook stickers at Hobby Lobby. GOLF ones for Tim and birthday ones. I showed considerable restraint by not buying more, they were 50% off! We all went out to eat at one of my favorite places for lunch – Corner Bakery. I had the Chicken Pomodori panini and fruit, delicious 🙂

– Saturday evening – Chris and Elizabeth came over. We picked up pizza from Little Ceasars (I was good, I had one piece plus I made myself a salad), then watched the next Harry Potter (#4, Goblet of Fire). The Saints preseason game was on, which we were recording. I got sleepy and slept through what little we watched before everyone got tired!

– Sunday morning – good church service. Music was great, and we’re in week 2 of a six week series called Life 101 (Going to School with Jesus).

– After church, we picked up Beau and drove over to my in-laws. My mother-in-law’s birthday is tomorrow, and we all wanted to celebrate today with her. We drove to Laurel, and met my dad, Mark, Amanda and their kids at the local Western Sizzlin (Linda’s pick!). We got to visit and hang out with everyone for a while, which was great. We drove back to drop Linda, Mitchell, Brittany and Zack off at the house, and visited a while before we loaded up Beau to head home.

– Rainy afternoon – it looked like it was fixing to pour rain when we left my in-laws house. We drove in some heavy rain, and then it cleared, then rained again. I wondered the whole way home if we would get any rain at our house. We pulled in our subdivision, and up front, there was a HUGE tree that was split and uprooted. Tim and I both thought – uh oh! We passed another yard that had a tree broken and filling their front yard. We got to our house and saw that one of our oak trees out front had a couple of broken branches. Our neighbor picked up a piece of our siding and had put it by the front door. We checked out back, expecting damage from our big, old Bradford Pear out back. Instead, we found our grill pushed across our deck and slammed into our patio furniture! No damage really, but we apparently had a lot of wind and rain while we were gone.

Busy weekend, but a pretty awesome one! I’m going to try to load a few pictures on flickr later 🙂 Hope everyone else had a great weekend too!

P.S. The photo I added at the top is of the tree at the entrance to our subdivision, thankfully, NOT in our yard! 🙂

  1. Deanna Said,

That was a CRAZY storm! I am so glad that you didn’t have any more damage than that. We have a lot of trees down but fortunately nothing damaging.

  2. Laura Said,

I wish we had a Hobby Lobby! Our crafting stores here leave much to be desired.

  3. Dawn Said,

Whoa. Glad that you didn’t find any major damage!

  4. mamichelle Said,

Wow, that’s a shame about your tree but I’m happy you didn’t have more damage! It sounds like a fun weekend otherwise. I wish we had a Hobby Lobby too. Our New England stores aren’t great. And good for you showing restraint on both the stickers and pizza!

  5. heidi @ ggip Said,

Pictures of trees like that always impress me. Glad you didn’t have worse damage!

  6. Maria Said,

Sounds like a great weekend with family, food, and fun!

  7. Desert Songbird Said,

We have our summer monsoons here, and some of them are very destructive. We had one the year my daughter was born (1996) that tore off the roofs of dozens of homes as well as my church. We had $100,000+ damage, and we had to have mass/services in the parish hall for months. Luckily, we’ve not had a storm that damaging since then. I’m glad your house suffered no damage and that you all were safe!
