Today, I’m Grateful for…

It’s not a novel concept, but it is one I like to do from time to time on my blog, and I am always trying to work to be better about. I’m talking about being grateful for something, anything, everything. We’re so very blessed, my husband and I, and we try to be mindful of that. I think an “attitude of gratitude” is a wonderful thing, and something I want to do more of on here.

Today, I’m grateful for water, specifically hot water! I blogged before that our hot water heater went out last week, but we still had cold water. I was so grateful, first for just water period, and then when our hot water heater was replaced. Hot water is wonderful on cold days. Cold showers, washing dishes in a sink full of cold water, etc, are not fun. Today, I scrubbed our bathrooms, and it was so nice to be able to crank it over to really warm and not get my hands frozen trying to clean.

Plus, in the large town nearby, they are having serious water problems. Schools are out today, city and state offices are closed, the DMV is even closed (so, you know it’s serious!), etc. All because they have over 100 water main breaks in the city. We are not on the same water system, and I’m so grateful. To have water, and to have hot water!

How about you? What is one thing, big or small, that you’re grateful for today? You don’t have to explain it, but you can 🙂 Leave me a comment and let me know!

  1. Laura Said,

My coworker stayed in a hotel last night because they didn’t have hot water or heat – they’re redoing their kitchen and moving things around.
I am grateful for space heaters! I have one at home that I use when I take a bath, and there is one at the office that 3 of us “share” and it was running in my office this morning. 🙂

  2. Sadie Said,

I’m grateful that my heat is included with my rent, so I can keep my apartment as warm as I want and not worry about the bill. 🙂

  3. Desert Songbird Said,

Yippee – I could finally click over and get to your blog! I’ve had trouble for days. I haven’t been able to leave a comment because your blog wouldn’t load for me. Now it will so I can say I was here! (So, I guess I’m grateful for that, huh? *grin*)

I’m glad I have breath. Every day I wake up, I’m grateful.

  4. mamichelle Said,

Yikes, that is not good about the water in your area. I think I would go nuts without hot water!

I’m grateful my son got his stuff back from an angry-for-no-reason ex today. What a relief. I thought we’d have to involve the authorities!

  5. Claire Said,

Ugh…guess I’m thankful that I work at UMC, where we DO have water! I currently still have water in my apartment but they are predicting that we lose it by the end of the week and have suggested that we not use the restroom here (?!). Fun stuff!

I’m also thankful for parents who want to use the resources and talents God has given them to share His love and truth…they are currently in Botswana leading a team of college students on a mission trip!

  6. cam Said,

Wow, I can’t believe in that frigid weather, you’ve actually been taking cold showers! Oh my, that sounds pure awful. Aren’t we spoiled, though? And grateful for it!
Today I’m grateful for all the wonderful, funny memories I have of my Granny.

  7. Maria Said,

I am grateful for so many things but specifically today I am thankful for a compassionate dental hygienest (not spelled correctly but too tired to look it up!) and a wonderful dentist, for double dental insurance (hubby and me), my best friend bringing me a chai latte to start my day, and for my job. It’s never boring! Glad you have hot water, I can’t imagine going without it, esp. in cold weather.

  8. Lauren@Baseballsandbows Said,

Hot showers are one of my favorite things, so I often think how thankful I am to have hot water. Of course, air conditioning and heat are high on the list as well!
