Happy Anniversary

Happy Blog-aversary Well, this weekend marks the third anniversary of my little blog! We’ve had our website for a little over 3 1/2 years. The first few months, I was updating things on the website every day, but it wasn’t in a format I wanted to use. We had our forums, but I wanted a more free-form method of posting things: recipes, book reviews, quotes, funny stories, blurbs about movies and TV shows, photos, etc. Everything on Hambones is compartmentalized; plus, I wanted a space just for me. I did some digging around online and discovered the concept of a “blog” or weblog. I researched software, and after the holidays, got Tim to help me install WordPress and figure things out. I played with it for a few days, then posted my first post on Feb 3, 2005.

I thought it would run its course quickly. After all, growing up, I tried over and over to keep diaries and journals. I have a few left from my childhood and preteen days. They have faithful entries in early January, then they start thinning out. By February or March though, they are few and far between. By May, they are nonexistent. I thought the same would happen with my blog. I made myself a goal in the beginning to blog every day. Even if I just posted something that said, “nothing going on here, I can’t think of anything to blog about.”.

Little did I know how addictive it would become, how much I would enjoy it, or mostly -what a wonderful community I was joining. I’ve made so many blog buddies and gotten to know, in a cyber sort of way, so many wonderful people. I honestly feel like I know so many of you, after reading your blogs, peeking into your lives and families, likes and dislikes, seeing your photos, reading along to the things we have in common, and not. It’s an amazing thing, really.

I certainly never thought it would last this long, but here I am. And at this point, I have no desire to stop blogging. I can’t foresee how long I will do this, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it while it lasts 🙂

Happy Blog-aversary to my little blog. Exceedingly Mundane. You’ve really become a big part of my life 😀

YAY, happy anniversary! And you know I’m OH SO GLAD y’all have this, because I get to have my blog too b/c of you…….hey there’s a song in there somewhere!

I’m glad you stuck with it, got me into it (although I’m sure most days you’re sorry about that part) and glad you’re still sticking with it!

  3. Heidi Said,

Happy Blog Birthday! Wow! I do wonder though, how long it was until you had people you didn’t know commenting on your blog? Just wondering. Keep Havin’ fun!

  4. Claire Said,

Well, congratulations! Three years is quite a long time.

  5. Dawn Said,

Happy Blogiversary. Stacy! I, for one, am *very* glad you started blogging. =) You were one of the very first blog buddies I made. I am like you in that I was never able to keep up with a diary, but I am still blogging strong. I think it has something to do with the interaction a blog provides. =)

  6. Lynne Said,

Happy Blogiversary Stacy! I’m really glad that I found your blog (yours too Gail!). I’ve loved reading about your life with Tim and especially Beau the Wonder Dog. Here’s to many more years!

  8. Karen Said,

Happy Anniversary, Stacy! I’m so glad our paths have crossed. Your blog is always a bright place to visit. I love your QOTD. I agree, blogging is a wonderful community and I’m so glad we’ve become a part of each other’s “neigborhood.”

  12. Barb @ A Chelsea Morning Said,

Well, happy bloggyversary, Stacy. My goodness, you’ve done a great job in the last three years. I’m like you. I trired to journal when I was younger and it just didn’t work for me. I couldn’t stay with it consistently. But you’ve done a really nice job of “journaling” you life through your blog.

Seems like we shoud be cutting a cake or something, doesn’t it? Seriously, good job, Stace, and happy bloggyversary.

  13. Tristi Pinkston Said,

    Happy Anniversary!

  14. Sandra Said,

Happy Blogaversary 🙂 I’ve loved getting to know you through your blog and only hope I can continue for many more years to come 🙂

    Hugs,
    Sandra

  15. Debi Said,

Happy anniversary to you, Stacy, and to Exceeding Mundane! I’m so glad you’ve stuck with it all this time, ’cause I sure would miss you if you stopped! I think you nailed the reason why blogging is easier to stick with than writing in a journal…it’s the wonderful connections to other people!

And Happy Super Bowl Day, too!

  16. Kara Said,

    Happy Anniversary!

  24. Shawna Said,

That is so great! I often wander if I’d get tired of it myself, but I do usually find something to post about.

  25. sherry Said,

Hurray! Three years is a long time to blog in one place! I’ve been blogging for about five years — but I started out at blurty, then moved to greatestjournal, then went to homeschoolblogger, and finally to blogger, where I found the right fit for me! I also have a livejournal blog too — for those friends of mine that only use it there — but a lot of my posts are just copies of what i post here!

    Nuff said!

I am going to borrow your 2 thing meme!

    Sherry
