Tidbits

We’ve been so busy with the weekend (and our trip down the Trace), and the holiday yesterday, that I haven’t had a chance to do a whole lot else. Here’s a couple of random thoughts rolling around like marbles in my little brain 🙄

  • I went with Tim to play golf the other day, at a new course for me, Live Oaks. I only took a couple of pictures. It was a nice course, but not quite as picturesque as the other he took me to (Caroline). I might post them later, the trees were beautiful. Tim shot pretty well, and I did double duty as both golf cart driver and caddy
  • Our niece Elizabeth is staying with us some, before she leaves for graduate school. We’re really happy to get to see her and spend some time with her!
  • We’re liking the NBC show “Treasure Hunters”. I like this show, it seems to require a bit more brain power than “Amazing Race” and they’ve been in the US, focusing on a lot of historical items and places, and we really love that. I was sooooo glad to see the Hanlons get eliminated this week. Boy, they were both annoying and embarrassing at the same time.
  • I hate that I missed watching the space shuttle launch yesterday, but I’m so happy it got off without a hitch. I’m looking forward to watching their mission and reading about what all they are doing. I hope they don’t have any more problems with that foam and that their mission and landing are very successful.
  • We’ve been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to read, and I LOVE to read. I really want to get into my new book, but just haven’t had any spare time
  • We’ve been watching some of the episodes of “The Revolution” on the History Channel and I am really captivated by this show. We both love history, and since we went to Washington DC last summer and also spent a day at Mount Vernon, I really love hearing and reading about George Washington. This is a really good show, following the revolution, with sections where historians talk about the facts of the war, where there are actors re-enacting battles and Washington’s talks with his army, etc, as well as letters that are read in their original form, from figures such as Washington and Howe to regular foot-soldiers who are writing home to their family. I really like this show 😀
  • Superman Returns was really good! I thought it was very true to the other movies, to how Christopher Reeve portrayed Superman, and it was just a great big-screen summer movie. I am really looking forward to the new Pirates of the Caribbean also 🙂
  • We’re really enjoying our new coffee beans. We’ve about figured out a proportion that works for us, and I’m learning just how fine to grind them in my cheap little grinder. It’s good stuff
  • We really need rain. It sprinkled last night for maybe 90 seconds, then stopped. Nothing since. It’s been cloudy, but nothing. Seems like everyone but us is getting some much-needed rain. I sure hope it rains today. My flowers and grass need rain really really bad. And I’m tired of watering every. single.day. Sigh. Anyone know any rain dances or sure fire methods to get it to rain? Except for washing the vehicle, we tried that, it hasn’t worked!

    1. Gail Said,

E might like that History Channel show you’re watching.
I’m liking Treasure Hunters too as you know!
Watched the shuttle launch, awesome….have mixed feelings about the space stuff and money it costs.
Superman, good summer flick……I’m ready for Pirates, should have probably borrowed your dvd to re-watch the 1st one!
You don’t need rain as much as we do here, on the crops/fields, people’s whole year incomes depends on it here! That’s what sprinklers are for, we just sell the super duper big field size ones! If people would just get them!

    2. Dawn Said,

It stormed last night at our house. Something about Rankin County it seems that if it’s going to rain it will be there and yes we really need rain here. I know it rained hard for about 30 minutes…

    3. Laura Said,

We were thinking of seeing a movie, but I’m just unmotivated to deal with the crowds.

Are you allowed to water every day where you live? We have two watering days a week…
