Tuesday Pictures

I’ve been busy all day, planting flowers outside. I have gotten most of the ones I have bought planted, but still have a lot left to do. Several more beds to get ready (pull up pansies, rework the soil, etc), and then more to plant. I haven’t even started on the front of the house, I’m working solely in the backyard and in all of my many planters right now.

We bought a new planter for my kitchen window windowsill – here’s a pic of it with some petunias in it that I planted earlier today:

Here’s a new plant that I’ve never tried, a cosmos:

And a red geranium, I love geraniums:

And another flower that I’ve never had any luck with – a gerbera daisy. I put it in this pot, but I think it may be too big for the pot. Would it do better in the ground? Has anyone ever grown these and had luck with them? Every other one I’ve ever bought has bit the dust pretty quickly. 🙁

There’s more, but I won’t post those… more petunias in planters, periwinkles in planters, impatiens in planters, impatiens in a flower bed. I still have to figure out what to plant out front, and also get some moss rose for my deck planters. So much more to do, I get tired just thinking about it!

Oh, and in case you don’t have enough rodent pictures in your life, I thought I’d include another picture of my squirrel. He’s coming regularly now to the feeder I put out for him. It’s the one we named “Right Ear” because of the notch out of his ear. He’s a fixture around here in the afternoons – here he is at about 1:10 PM, eating a late lunch, I guess!

P.S. I was listening to “My Last Name” by Dierks Bentley when I was posting this… I love that song!

  1. Gail Said,

How does that planter on your kitchen windowsill attach? Just sit there or fixed somehow…..like it.
I have not had luck with Gerber daisies either, but I like them a lot!

Yeah, enough rodent pics already! 🙂

  2. Stace Said,

Gail – It’s actually a planter that’s probably meant for the deck. It has hardware to attach to a railing or deck, but we aren’t using it right now. Right now, it’s just propped on the sill. It’s smaller than the plastic planter I had there before, so I may end up moving it to the deck after all. I haven’t decided yet! 🙂

I wonder if I should plant this gerber daisy in the ground… ?

Sorry, my squirrel is my only pet at the moment. Encourage Tim to get me a dog and then I can flood my blog with dog pictures and not squirrel pics 😀

  3. Laura Said,

Beautiful! I wish we had a decent flower season here.
