Movie at the Grandview

We went to see a matinee of “Inside Man” yesterday at our new Grandview Theater. I’ll try to write up a review this week on Hambones.org. We both liked it, but Tim gave it a higher rating than I did. I expected more in the way of plot development, I think, than he did. And with Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster, I think I just expected more. It was still a good movie, and would be a great rental when it comes out on DVD.

Anyway, I’ve blogged about our new theater before, but I hadn’t been able to post any pictures. As much as I love my new camera that I got for Christmas, it’s bigger and bulkier than my previous digital camera, which I could sometimes stick in my purse. Enter our new Razr phones we got a few weeks ago, and voila, I can take pictures inside our new theater. Well, at least I thought I could. The cameraphone doesn’t have a flash and it seems that all the interior lighting (a lot of neon and dim lighting everywhere else) really messed up my shots. They’re not great, but better than nothing, so I’m including them on the extended page…

View looking in towards the refreshments area at the back of the lobby. There’s big screen TV’s on each side of the refreshments area. There’s a section on the left that offers coffee, cappuccinos and other blended drinks, and has a pastry case with things like cheesecake, baklava, muffins, etc. The middle of the refreshment area has regular stuff – popcorn, drinks, frozen drinks, candy. The right side contains a case with food like pizza slices, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks.

And here you can see the fountain, and the cool preview posters they have up top behind the columns and red velvet curtains:

And off to the left of the refreshment area is an Internet Cafe (neon sign didn’t turn out). There’s several sets of bar stools and tables with free laptops with Internet access:

I didn’t take a picture of the separate sitting area to the right of the refreshment area. The Internet cafe is on the left and there’s another cafe with a fake fireplace and additional seating on the right. These are in addition to the Arcade and several party rooms for having kids birthday parties.

Lastly, the blurriest of all… a shot of one of the set of couches in the lobby, but we were hurrying into our movie and Tim didn’t want to wait and so I took it really quick, and it came out really blurry:

Oh well… I was really hoping they would be better, but with the neon signs and low lighting every where else, and my cameraphone not having any kind of flash on it, this appears to be the best I could do. Sigh. At least you can get some idea of what it looks like. It’s very nice. Very aptly named the “Grand”view. 😀
