Exceedingly Mundane

Yippppeeeeeee! I just called the phone number for the new Hobby Lobby opening out on Lakeland. I had seen in the paper that they were opening Monday, but sometimes they actually open before the grand opening or the ribbon cutting or whatever. I found the phone number on their website and called and the lady said they opened at 9 AM today. YEAH! I know where I’m going this afternoon!

OK, mine was easy today. I just went out to get the mail and my two $10 gift cards to Target came in the mail today. Cashed in some of my points a few days ago for free gift cards. Now I can’t wait to go spend them!

I couldn’t think of a thing this morning to post, and now I have two that spring to mind. My two happies for today are:

1. I read in today’s paper that our new Hobby Lobby is going to open Monday. YEAH! Finally, somewhere to shop for craft stuff besides our horrible ole Michaels. Plus, HL has some great seasonal stuff. Can’t wait to go, they open Monday. 😀

2. It’s raining, and has been for the past 20 or 30 minutes. I love it when it rains. Number one, it’s great for the grass and flowers and the new tree we planted. Number two, it means I won’t have to get out in the next day or two and drag sprinklers around the yard. Number three – I absolutely love going to look at my love note on the back fence from Tim. 😀 And number four – it’s all dark and cloudy and so I’ve lit some of my Yankee Candles. Hard to beat all of that, huh?!

What makes me happy today…

Oreos!

We bought a bag of Oreos the other day and I’ve been eating them every day. Bad, I know. But, to be fair, we only buy “store” cookies about 2 or 3 times a year. I make cookies and brownies sometimes, but we don’t splurge all the time. Buying and eating Oreos is a very once-in-a-while splurge for us. And they are so good, especially dunked in milk!! 🙂

My happy for today…

I spent a little while outside this morning. I planted a fresh flower in a pot to put on my deck. Yellow, a sunny happy color! I also filled up my bird feeders with more birdseed. We have tons of birds here and I very much enjoy watching them attack those feeders and see how many we have at one time and how long it takes them to clean it out. So, my bird feeders make me happy today!

OK, my happy for today is that Terry and Zack spent the night last night, so we got to see them again today! We all had breakfast together (I made waffles), and then, Tim, Terry and Zack went to the Wildlife Extravaganza at the TradeMart. Tim loves spending time with his brothers and nephews, doing guy things, so I know he will be really happy when he gets back. And when Tim is happy, it always makes me happy!

OK, today’s happy would have to be family and football.

My dad is on his way up, as well as Tim’s brother Terry and our nephew Zack. We’re all going to the Saints Fan Fest at the stadium this afternoon, then the Saints scrimmage game tonight. Hopefully it will be fun. I know Tim and Zack are excited!

It’s Friday, so that always makes me happy. I always look forward to spending more time with Tim on the weekend. He goes on-call today, but that’s ok, we still get to be together, even if he ends up having to work. Which hopefully he won’t.

Anyhoo, it’s Friday and I’m headed out to some of my favorite spots. The library. That’s a very happy place for me – books, movies, magazines, all for free. I’m also headed to Tuesday Morning to look for some scrapbook stuff for me and Amanda. Scrapbook stuff always makes me happy.

So, I’m overflowing on the happy stuff today. Hope everyone else has a wonderful day too! 🙂

Well, today’s happy will be easy for me. I’m happy that we have this website, Hambones.org.

Tim and I have put a lot of time, energy, (money), effort and love into this site. We set out to put together a place on the Internet where both of our families could come, spend time, share photos, chat, exchange information, and just generally connect with one another. We work very hard at maintaining the site and that intent, and hopefully we’ve succeeded. It gives us a lot of joy to do it, and we hope everyone else enjoys it as well. So today is easy – Hambones makes me happy!

OK, Day 3 – something that makes me happy today….

I’m washing sheets today and it always makes me really happy to take warm, soft, cuddly sheets out of the dryer and put them on our bed. Especially in the winter, when it’s chilly, but even now, in the middle of summer, it makes me happy.

Plus, an added bonus is that I bought us two new allergen pillows last week. Nothing like a nice new fluffy pillow to make you feel all snugly and comfy going to sleep. 😀

It may sound silly, but one thing I am happy about this morning is that there is a 60% chance of rain today! I’m sure some people are getting a lot of rain and are maybe getting sick of it, but where I live, it’s fairly dry and we could really use some rain. This is the best chance we’ve had in several days, and so I’m hopeful that it might rain later today. Our grass and flowers are very dry, and if it doesn’t rain soon, I will have to drag out the hoses and sprinklers and spend several hours watering. That won’t make me happy, so I am really pulling for the rain!

I may have another happy thought later, you never know! 😀

I was reading Big Orange Michael‘s blog the other day, and he issued a challenge for the month of August. I think I’m going to play along, as best I can. The challenge is simple – post about one thing that makes you happy each day.

P.S. I started doing something similar to this when I first started using the Journal feature on Hambones – I did a series of gratitudes, things I was grateful for. I’m glad I found this at Michael’s blog – I need to be reminded of how much I have, how many big and little things make me happy, and how very lucky and blessed I am. Thanks Michael!
