Quiz: What State are you?

Well, well, well. I love these things, whether the results seem right or not! 🙂

You’re Oregon!
When people talk about peace in the valley, they often think of you.
After all, you’ve inspired countless people to traverse rough terrain in search of you
and even think about you when playing popular computer games. Are you really up to all
the hype or are you all wet? You take shelter from the storm beneath trees, felled by
either loggers or beavers. If you were a shade of pink, it would be salmon.

at the Blue Pyramid.

Wikipedia Fun

Stolen from SusiePie:

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birthday (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.

  • 1867 – United States takes possession of Alaska, from Russia, celebrated annually in the state as Alaska Day ($7.2 million paid).
  • 1925 – The Grand Ole Opry opens
  • 1968 – Bob Beamon sets a world record of 8.90m in the long jump at the Mexico City games. This becomes the longest unbroken track and field record in history, standing for 23 years, and is later named by Sports Illustrated magazine as one of the five greatest sporting moments of the 20th century.
  • Births:

  • 1939 – Mike Ditka, American football player, coach, and commentator
  • 1960 – Jean-Claude Van Damme, Belgian actor
  • Death:

  • 1931 – Thomas Edison, American inventor (b. 1847)

Quiz: Are you a good cook?

Woo-hoo, one of my many loves, besides reading, TV, the computer, etc… I love to cook, I love kitchen appliances and gadgets, love grocery shopping, LOVE collecting cookbooks. Yippee! 😀

    You Are an Excellent Cook

You’re a top cook, but you weren’t born that way. It’s taken a lot of practice, a lot of experimenting, and a lot of learning.
It’s likely that you have what it takes to be a top chef, should you have the desire…

Quiz: What Color is your blog?

    Your Blog Should Be Blue

Your blog is a peaceful, calming force in the blogosphere.
You tend to avoid conflict – you’re more likely to share than rant.
From your social causes to cute pet photos, your life is a (mostly) open book.

    Johari Window

I must admit, I had never heard of a Johari window until I was reading SusiePie’s post here. It seems a fairly interesting concept. I thought it might make an interesting entry for my blog, since most of the people who read my blog actually do know me in real life. Pretty well, actually. Which, on the other hand, is sorta scary, so maybe this wasn’t such a great idea! 🙂 Oh well. Here we go:

Wikipedia defines a Johari Window as “a metaphorical tool intended to help people better understand their interpersonal communication and relationships. It is used primarily in self-help groups and corporate settings as a heuristic exercise.”

Here’s what I need all of my faithful blog readers to do – go to this website and pick 5 or 6 words that you think describe me. {Shudder} Thanks!

    Question of the Day

    From this website:

At the movie theater, where do you choose to sit? What do you buy at the concession?

Very timely question, considering our new theater opened this past weekend and it’s just wonderful. (You can go back and read about it here.) Tim and I both like the top section, and we prefer to sit about 2/3 of the way towards the top. I really prefer to sit closer to the aisle (because I usually drink something and then have to go to the restroom), but Tim likes the middle of the aisle. He wants to be smack dab in the middle of the screen 🙂 Normally, our concession purchases consist of Diet Coke and a big tub of popcorn. At our new theater, we have a lot more choices! I had a cappuccino Saturday, and we can get cheesecake, tiramisu, muffins, candy, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, corn dogs, pizza and other good stuff. 🙂 We’ll probably stick to popcorn and Diet Coke or coffee though!

Duh, no surprises here… I’m not very athletic and not into breakneck sports like luge and bobsledding. While I enjoy watching them, I seriously doubt I would ever attempt them! 🙂

Go check it out and see which sport you would be best at!

    You Are Curling

What you lack in athleticism, you make up for in concentration.
And while curling isn’t much more of a sport than bowling, you *can* win a gold medal for it!

    Tag Fever!

Well, I was blog surfing and found I had been tagged by not one, but two, different people for the same little questionnaire. 😯 I had tried to swear off these for a while, but I hate not doing the quiz and playing along. I won’t tag anyone else though, but feel free to play along if you’d like!

I was tagged by Kathy and Dawn:

    5 things about me

What were you doing 10 years ago? Planning my wedding and honeymoon

What were you doing 1 year ago? Same thing as I’m doing now 😛

Five snacks you enjoy (in no particular order, as all snacks are created equal):
    1. anything Chocolate
    2. Chili Cheese Fritos
    3. Oreos
    4. Dr Pepper
    5. Krispy Kreme donuts

Five songs in which you KNOW all the lyrics:
I’d be hard pressed to come up with 5 songs that I don’t know all the lyrics too. It’s something I’ve been good at, all of my life. My mom even wrote in my baby book that I knew all the words to a lot of songs when I was little, like 4 or 5. If I like I song, I know all the words. I could name hundreds, just have to go down the playlists on my iPod. 🙂

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:
    1. Buy a very large home, with a gourmet kitchen and a place for Tim’s pool table he wants
    2. Travel
    3. Save money for our retirement
    4. Take all of our family on a fun vacation
    5. Buy a cabin in the mountains for our “winter home” 😀

    Five bad habits:
    1. Speaking what’s on my mind without thinking about it first (0pen mouth, insert foot)
    2. Biting my fingernails
    3. Being negative
    4. Procrastinating
    5. Wasting too much time on the PC / watching TV

    Five things you like doing:
    1. Playing on the computer
    2. Taking photos
    3. Reading
    4. Watching TV
    5. Hanging out with Tim

5 things you would never wear, buy or get again:
    1. a Pontiac automobile
    2. cheap dinnerware that chips and cracks
    3. a bathing suit, if I can help it
    4. an icemaker that drips
    5. can’t think of anything else off the top of my head

    Five favorite toys:
    1. my new camera
    2. my iPod
    3. our new smart remote
    4. my computer/Internet connection
    5. caller id!

    Quiz: Are you like Monk?

OK, I knew when I saw this (came via email), that I had to go take this quiz. See, it’s a running joke around our house that my little obsessive-compulsive neat freak-isms are sort of like Monk on the USA network show of the same name. We love that show and watch it when we remember to tape it (it’s on opposite Battlestar Galactica, duh, a no-brainer, you know what I’ll be watching). Tim is forever calling me Monk or Mrs. Monk when he thinks I’m doing something a little too OCD.

But, HAH, I showed him! 😆 The quiz (go here to take it) showed that I wasn’t very Monk-ish at all! I tried to cut and paste my results, but it wouldn’t let me, so I made a graphic of the screen shot.

See…. I’m remotely normal after all!

    Monkish Quiz Results

P.S. No silly comments about how not-normal I am. I reserve the right to delete any comment I do not approve of. hahahaha

    Quiz for the Day

OK, blog readers, here’s a quiz for the day… see if you can identify the penny correctly. Sounds easy, right? Yup, that’s what I thought. Click here to take the test. Be sure to post your results in a comment.

And, for what it’s worth, I didn’t pick it correctly. I didn’t go look at a penny and cheat, and I missed it. 🙁
