Tim got a lot done yesterday in our master bathroom. We had two layers of vinyl flooring in there to remove. The original white flooring that the builder put in the house (which I hated, it showed every speck of dirt and every dark hair that came out of my Shaggy DA head), and then the beige vinyl square adhesive tiles we put down a few years ago, when we ripped down the wallpaper and repainted the walls in there. It was a lot of work, but Tim got both layers up. Now, we just need to do some cleaning, and we’ll be ready to start laying tile!

Here’s a before picture… yes, we have the world’s smallest master bathroom! I think the guest bath is larger than ours. Our next house won’t be like this, but we’re ok with it for now. Gives us something to look forward to in a new house one day (and a big kitchen too!):
When we did the guest bathroom last fall, Tim manhandled the toilet, picking it up and toting it out to the garage. He nearly gave himself a hernia, those things are heavy! This time, he worked smarter. He rigged his “creeper” as he calls it (he uses it up under the vehicles, when he changes oil and works on our cars), to move the toilet through the house and out to the garage where it will live peacefully, until the tile is laid 😀
Scraping up the first layer of vinyl:
And, then the second layer, the old white sheet flooring:
And, after all that work, tada! Concrete! We have a little cleaning up to do, then it’s time to start making lines, working out the placement of the tile (there’s a lot of corners and cuts in this small room, it’s going to be a bugger), then the actual mixing of mortar and laying of tile.
Wow…I am WAY impressed so far. Can’t wait to see the finished product…
WOW, that’s a lot of work. I’ll be he has a back ache already!
I’m so impressed when people do these projects themselves!!! How did he learn how? We’re useless over here.
When I say “we”, I of course mean, “him”! 😉
