Stuff Portrait Fridays

I participated in this fun photo meme for the first time last week. I got such a great response from all the “regulars” at this site. Several of them stopped by to view my submission and left really sweet comments. They made me feel very welcome, and it was fun to do. I love this kind of stuff! So, I checked out Kristine’s site again, and found out that the assignment for this week is “Bedside Manner”.

This game is for everyone. Encourage your players to play and comment on your blog if they played so you can get to know your readers. If you want to send them over here to let me know they played, Great!

Feb 24th, 2006 – Bedside Manner

your favorite lamp

So, here’s my submissions. The top drawer of my nightstand (which looks suspiciously like the other drawer – full of books and momentos from my childhood and past years):

Top Drawer of Nightstand

As for the good book that I’ve read – that’s a hard one! I have read so many books in the last couple of years, and many many good ones. Unfortunately, I get the majority of my books from the library. I’d have to say that the best one I’ve read lately (for me) was “Three Weeks with my Brother” by Nicholas and Michah Sparks. I’m a big Nicholas Sparks fan, and have several of his other books, although not this one. So, in lieu of that one, I took a picture of two others that would rank among favorites:

Nicholas Sparks books

Your favorite lamp… well, I’m not much of a lamp person. The ones we have on our nightstands are old ones from the den. We got these several years ago, and I like them. I like the shape and the metal look of them, but my favorite thing about these lamps is that there are 2 3-way switches, we can go from one bulb on low, to all bulbs on high, 6 switch settings. Lots of options for lighting!

Lamp

And, after I saw what Kristine had posted, her favorite being her light fixture as you come in her front door, I realized that my very favorite lighting option in the house is very close to hers. I love the fixture we put in the breakfast room when we repainted a couple of years ago. It’s by far my favorite in the house:

OK, there we go. My second time to play. I hope this afternoon to get over and visit a lot of the other participants. Everyone was so friendly last week, and I’d like to repay their kindness. 🙂

  16. Amanda Said,

I’m with Suzanne…who are all those people??? As you know, Nicolas Sparks is my most favorite writer too! One of my favorites is A Walk To Remember. I have the book and the movie. One of the few times that the book and the movie don’t match, but are both equally excellent! I have several of his books on my list to read. I bought the one that you mentioned, Three Weeks With My Brother, at Sam’s a few weeks ago in oversized paperback. I have not really had a chance to start it yet, but am really looking forward to it!
