Progress in the Kitchen!

For those of you following our ceramic tile project, read on….

Tim made a lot of headway in the kitchen today! He worked from home, and spent all morning on his laptop. He worked in the kitchen and laundry room the rest of the day, and finished up around 9 PM tonight. Then, we ate supper, wish it hadn’t been so late! Oh well, at least I was able to work around him and cook, that was nice!

He only made a few cuts today, and mostly concentrated on laying complete tiles. He’s going to concentrate tomorrow on going back “around the edges” and also try to get under the refrigerator. He got almost all of the kitchen done today, with the exception of around and under the fridge, in front of the pantry, and some cuts under one side of cabinets. He also got almost half the laundry room done! He worked really hard and laid a bunch of tiles all by himself. He’s doing a great job! 😀

Here’s a few pictures:

I didn’t take pictures till late in the afternoon – here, he had already finished the section of breakfast room where they left me a walkway, and worked his way back towards the refrigerator. Lots accomplished here!

Took this one so you could see how the mortar is laid, gotta stay inside the lines and leave room for the spacers:

He got almost half of the laundry room done, looks great!

Laundry Room, almost half way there!

And a view from the breakfast room, after we were through and cleaned up:

Of course, there’s still a long long way to go. Grouting is the messiest, but I will be able to help with that more than this step. I don’t spread cement well or lay tiles well, but I’m killer with a sponge and bucket full of water! 🙂
