Friday Afternoon

Nothing like tooling around in a shiny new red car (SUV) to make a girl smile 🙂

I went to the library today, and returned 3 books and checked out one more. My little branch of our county library system is going to be closed next week for inventory, and I had a hard time finding some books I wanted. I checked the computer and they have them at another branch (that will be open next week), so I just got one today and plan to go next week to the other branch and check out one or two more. I’ve read on other blogs and message boards about the Harmony books. Several people compared them to the Mitford books by Jan Karon, which I love and adore. So, if the Harmony ones are half that good, I’m really looking forward to reading some of them.

I also went to Tuesday Morning and Big Lots…

I went to Big Lots first because their weekly had had some Making Memories scrapbook stuff advertised. They had some yes, but nothing I wanted. Green eyelets, patterned alphabet stickers and a few EK Success things and some stickers. Nothing I would spend $1 on! So, I left there quickly and headed to Tuesday Morning.

That’s a long story that I will sum up shortly – I was on a mission and I stayed as long as I had to, to accomplish it! I found the yellow album for Amanda right away, but the other Chatterbox kits were a booger and a half! I went through the store twice, and was about to give up, but I have a bulldog mentality sometime about finding something that I want. So, I looked and looked, dug and dug, and finally after nearly an hour in there, I found what I was looking for. On the bottom shelf, in the back part behind tons of notecards, journals, stationery sets, magnetic notepads and various and other stationery items. I finally spotted one corner of one kit. Then I cleared out the front of that shelf (mind you, it was the bottom one, so there I was, on all fours, butt up in the air, pulling stuff out like a madwoman, tossing stuff aside to get to the back). I was quite a sight, I’ve no doubt of that. But, I found them, and got what I wanted. Nothing like a sense of accomplishment.

I originally planned to swing by Bed, Bath and Beyond after TM, but I had buyer’s remorse from spending more money on scrapping stuff, so I bypassed BB&B and went to Kroger. I was just going to smell the Yankee Candles and buy another one. But the angel on my left shoulder beat out the little devil on my right shoulder, and practicality prevailed. After all, I have a little bit in the bottom of my Cranberry one left from last winter, plus my Juicy Cherry in the den, then I have my buttercream one in the kitchen, and the Clean Cotton in the guest bathroom. It’s not like I needed it. Sigh. Need is never the point, now is it?! 😕

So, I was a good girl, and went to Kroger and picked up some fresh produce, a loaf of fresh french bread, and a couple of things for Gail. Gotta get in the kitchen soon and make some spaghetti. We only have spaghetti about twice a year, but I was in the mood for it. Got some stuff to make a salad to go with it, and of course, the french bread which I will liberally slather with butter and garlic to hopefully turn out some good carb-loading hot garlic bread. Yum. Maybe I can convince Tim to stay home and eat! 🙂

It’s raining here right now, and has been for about 20 minutes or so. Yeah! I have some candles lit and lights on, I do so love when it rains. Needless to say, Tim won’t be cutting the grass tonight like he planned! We have to run to either Lowe’s or probably Home Depot to get a part, so that will be it for the night. I have my one show that is new and I enjoy on tonight – Battlestar Galactica at 9 PM. We’ll tape Monk too, but I want to watch Battlestar. Such a good show!! 🙂

**UPDATED** – Well, the spaghetti is now going to be on Sunday’s menu. We worked on the Hambones anniversary stuff for a while after Tim got in from work. Then we went to Lowe’s to get some plumbing parts, and by that time, it was after 7 PM and I was starving and had a headache. So, Tim was sweet and offered to go eat Chinese with me. As I have stated hundreds of times before, I never turn down Chinese, so off we went. Then, we went back to the same grocery store I was in about 4 or 5 hours earlier and bought all different food! We’re going to grill out tomorrow for Terry, Zack and my dad. Should be good! 🙂
