Double Feature

Saturday was a good day.

Tim slept late since he was up till 3:15 AM Friday night working on Hambones. After he got up, we went to the clinic and got my ears “fixed”. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t use a machine to clear the ear canal – the nurse came in with a squirt water bottle with a small attachment at the end of a hose, and used that to irrigate my ears! It worked, thank goodness, but I don’t think it got nearly as much out as the machine would have. Next time, I’ll have to go back to the ENT and get it done with the machine. But — the good news is that my ear opened back up, stopped hurting, and I was back to normal! 😀 Tim, for one, was very glad I’m sure, since the ear ache had made me a bit grouchy!

We did something yesterday that I had never done before – we went to two movies back to back! I’ve never splurged on anything like that in my life, and once I mentioned that to Tim, he seemed to think it was time to experience a full day of movies at the theatre, so off we went! We went to see “Mr & Mrs Smith” first (good, not outstanding, but fun). Then we walked across to the mall (Northpark) to get Tim a watch battery as his watch had died. We tried Penney’s first, but after searching for a while, the watch guy said he didn’t have the right battery and sent us to a jewelers in the mall. They did have the right battery, and offered a lifetime guarantee on the battery, and will replace it free as long as he still has this watch. But, they had to keep it a while longer, so we left it with the jeweler and walked back to the theatre for the second part of our double feature – the movie Tim wanted to see – “The Longest Yard”. It was good too, but did have a lot of rough language, especially at the beginning. Once it got to the football part, we liked it a lot better! We rate them about the same, about a 6 or 7 on our 1-10 scale we use at Hambones.

After “The Longest Yard”, we went back to get Tim’s watch, then we went to eat out, my pick, which was Vasilio’s, a great little Greek place right by our house. The service was really slow last night, but the food was really good as always. I got a greek gyro platter (with a Greek salad and fries) and Tim got the chicken souvlaki platter (with the same). It was good and we were stuffed.

We came home and I got Dad’s present fixed up, the food ready to take today and a few other things around the house. One of our neighbors came over (Jackie) to visit and borrowed a couple of movies. Then, we settled in to watch one from our collection, but Tim fell asleep pretty early on, so we stopped it and headed for bed. Poor thing, he’s so out of whack with his sleeping schedule, he’s been staying up so late and not getting enough sleep. I hope he gets back to a more normal schedule soon.

We’ll be heading to Tim’s parents in a couple of hours, to church and then to visit with them and my dad all afternoon. We’re looking forward to spending Father’s Day with BOTH of our dads! 🙂

  1. Gail Said,

Hmmm, maybe you should go see Batman! I DID!
And you might like it better than those other two. We had wanted to see Longest Yard but Don said we were probably seeing the funniest parts on the commercials, so we haven’t gone yet to see it.

  2. Kurt Said,

I had that same ear problem one time and they used the same solution. Since then I’ve started periodically (once/twice a month) tilting my head and putting Hydrogen Peroxide in the ear. It won’t damage the ear. Let it sit in the ear for a little bit and then rinse the ear out with a bulb syringe and a q-tip.

  3. Gail Said,

Don does that too with the peroxide, so that is probably a good idea for you to do.

  4. Stacy Said,

Thanks for the tips about the hydrogen peroxide guys. Is it just a couple of drops?

Gail – we’re planning to go see Batman Begins this coming weekend – we’ve already got a date planned! 🙂
