Who Dat!

It’s been a long time since the Super Bowl in February, when our beloved Saints won their first ever Super Bowl. But, the time has finally arrived – the NFL season opens tonight with our Saints taking on the Minnesota Vikings!

We’re still basking in our first ever trip to the Super Bowl, as well as that magical first win. The Saints had only been to a playoff game 6 times in the history of the franchise before last season. To say it was a long time coming is an understatement 🙂

In the off season, we’ve been keeping that Saints spirit alive. When all of the memorabilia starting coming out in the stores in late February, we racked up! We bought the new flag that this morning is hanging out front, shirts (Tim got like 4 or 5 t-shirts!), sweatshirts, travel mugs, magnets, a blu-Ray of the season and Super Bowl… and most everything else we could find 🙂

When the Saints made their championship tour around the Gulf South region, we went to the stop here in our town. We got to see the rally bats, NFC championship items, and most importantly, that Lombardi trophy. We miss having the team here for training camp, but it’s right that they stay in New Orleans.

So, tonight the season begins, and we’re very hopeful. We have our rituals and traditions for every game. Chris and Liz come over and we eat lots of fattening “game day” food. We all have our shirts and jersey’s that we wear. We’ve got the Who Dat chant down, and we’re ready to go!

Who Dat! Who Dat! Who Dat say gonna beat dem Saints! Who Dat!

  1. Desert Songbird Said,

And so it begins – right now, we’re all 0-0. Peter King in Sports Illustrated last week predicted that both my Colts and your Saints would go to their respective conference championships and LOSE, both of them by a field goal (yours in OT). He’s predicting a SEVENTH championship for the Steelers. UGH! Let’s hope he’s wrong. We need to keep our respective QBs healthy, because let’s face it, not every second string is a Kurt Warner. I have no faith in Peyton’s backup (Curtis Painter looked horrid in preseason), and I’m not sure who Drew’s backup is, but he can’t compare to Drew anyway.

The Cardinals might have a chance to repeat as division champs now that they’ve released Leinart (thank goodness). Their young third stringer QB has a lot of chutzpah. 🙂

  2. Dianne Said,

I have 10 Saints Swagbucks I would gladly transfer to you if i could.

I’m so glad to see football season roll around again. It’s something Mike and I both mutually enjoy, like you and Tim. I don’t give the Steelers much hope this year. I hope to see the Saints do well again this year – if not a repeat, at least a strong performance. And as always, pulling for my beloved Colts and my man, Peyton! Oh I will just die when he retires. Mostly I just look forward to some good football, company and snacks!

    So fun!!

  4. Deanna Said,

My boys went to the MSU game tonight so I am sitting on the couch flipping between the MSU, Delta State and Saints game. I may need thumb therapy tomorrow!

Hoping for THREE big wins tonight, but right now State is killing me!

  5. Lauren@BaseballsandBows Said,

My boys are enjoying the start of the season. I hope you have a great year!
