Brave New World

During my long blog break, Tim and I both got new MacBook Pro’s! He got his first, and then when my three-year-old problematic HP laptop started giving me more problems, he decided that I needed a Mac and he ordered me one too! I don’t have any pictures of me with my Mac, but I do have a cute picture of Tim unboxing his 🙂 Mine is just the same, except that it has more software on it:

I thought after working in the IT field for years and only working on Windows machines that I would not like moving into the Mac world. Boy, was I ever wrong! I love it. LOVE. IT! Mine is so easy to use, has so many great features, and I really and truly do not ever want to use a Windows PC again. I can’t recommend them enough. I told Tim the other day, we’ve really turned into Apple-heads 🙂 I love my very old iPod (not even a video one, that tells you how old it is!), our iPhones and now our Mac’s. I hope we never have to go back to a PC environment. The Mac’s are more expensive, granted, but we both do a lot on computers, and it is so nice to have a great one to use.

I haven’t learned everything about it yet, but I’m working on it. Time Machine still baffles me a little. Sometimes getting apps to download (free ones, hence probably most of the problem) doesn’t seem as seamless as other times. But the pro’s definitely outweigh the cons – I rarely have to reboot my Mac, I have had lots of things open and never had a crash, I never have any kinds of problems with it, it has a great display and an awesome battery. I love iPhoto and how easy it is to put photos on Facebook, Shutterfly, etc. I like Safari, but my favorite browser Chrome works like a champ on the Mac. So many things to love 🙂

If you have time to leave a comment, let me know…. do you use a PC or a Mac? If you use a PC, would you like to try a Mac if you had the money/time/etc to check it out?

Have a great day!

  1. Laura Said,

Macs are like an oven that only bakes brownies. Man, it bakes them PERFECTLY each time, without fail, and they are amazing. But if you wanted to make muffins or cupcakes – well, you can’t. You have to hunt down a PC, which makes everything but nothing perfectly.

That is my analogy. 😉 I love my iPhone, but I don’t agree with Apple’s business model in general. I’m sure I would love a Mac to tinker with, but I probably won’t ever use one exclusively. I never say never, though.

  2. mamichelle Said,

I use a pc. My son is an apple head too and he keeps telling us to switch. I used a mac at work a few yrs. back. It was so hard to go back to a pc! If I had the money, I probably would covert. I love the dual platform ones we have in a lab at work.

  3. Prenticekid Said,

I only know PCs. I don’t even know what the differences are, to tell you the truth. Or if I’d even recognize them if I saw them! LOL

  4. Deanna Said,

I have a PC, but I have been so fascinated with the MAC. My son used nothing but a MAC when he started school and he fell in love with them. He has said he wants one so much. The most wonderful thing about a MAC is the fact that they don’t seem to get viruses. Other than that, I am pretty happy with my PC.

  5. Suzanne Said,

I use whatever my company pays me to use! I have a PC now, but I have had a MAC, and it was great. I’d like an I Pad I think.
You are welcome to give that for my burfday or Christmas.

  6. Gaynol Said,

Love my mac and it does everything I want it to. Once you go mac, you’ll never go back 😉

  7. Lauren@BaseballsandBows Said,

How exciting! We have a PC, but I think Apples are cool!

  8. Tracie Said,

I have never used a Mac. I’m not sure exactly what the differences are, but those unknown differences scare me. As does the price! lol

  9. Dianne Said,

I should have held out for a Mac. I’ve never really had the issues with Windows that people complain about – although I don’t love Windows one bit. I think I don’t push my machine to the limits that some people do perhaps. Nevertheless, for the cool design and graphic capabilities, I think I wish I had a Mac. I just couldn’t justify the extra expense of all new Mac software. Oh well, I can’t complain. My new HP is pretty awesome.

So glad to see you blogging again. Woohoo. I love mundane, it’s the stuff life is made of! Good stuff such as friends like you!

  10. Maria Said,

Hi Stacy! So happy to see you blogging again! I have always used a PC though the school where I work is Mac all the way. Given the opportunity, I think I’d stay with PC. My oldest son, Joe, has a Mac and loves it.

  11. Gail Said,

well you already know my answer, I have a pc! but I might would want to get a mac but doubt I could ever talk Don into one….he said he wouldn’t be able to link his/connect with the ones at the office when he goes over there if he had a mac!

  12. Karen Said,

I’ve always used a PC, but my son-the-computer-whiz has a Mac and will NEVER give it up. I honestly couldn’t tell you the difference between the two, but if I had it to over again I’d get a Mac because it would make my son happy and he does all my computer maintenance:)

  13. Dawn Said,

I am in the teeny tiny minority that has tried a Mac & absolutely *hated* it. =/

  14. Desert Songbird Said,

Yup, yup, yup. I will DEFINITELY be moving over to a Mac when this PC laptop is finally retired. Oh, and my husband, who has a Mac, had been using Safari and Mozilla Firefox for browsers, but he complained that both were running slowly lately. I suggested he switch to Google Chrome, and he is hooked! Still, we don’t have iPhones since we’re Verizon and not AT&T, but we love our Google platform Android phones.

Soon, I hope, we’ll be Macs across the board for all four of us. 🙂
