Where to Start?

Where does one begin a blog post, when you have gone so long without posting? New territory for me. I’ve taken short breaks before, and longer breaks when we’ve had computer or Internet issues, but never a break this long.

For starters, I wasn’t sure I was going to post again. I’m still on the fence but willing to keep trying. Mostly, I don’t like to be a quitter 🙂 I have four years of blogging going on here that a part of me hates to just… abandon.

I haven’t felt the need to blog lately. One reason is that for the last 9 or 10 days, I’ve been sick. I haven’t been this sick in a while. I lost two days from running a fever, sleeping most of the time, and laying in a dark and quiet room for nearly 48 hours. Sinus migraine type headaches are no fun. When my head feels like the size of Jupiter and it’s trying to all fit inside my small cranium, then stuff hurts.

I didn’t turn my computer on at all for a week. That’s another first for me. You know what – I didn’t miss it at all! Not only was I not blogging, I wasn’t checking email, I wasn’t reading blogs, I wasn’t checking Facebook, I wasn’t reading tweets on Twitter, I wasn’t surfing online to read about stuff, look stuff up or even play games. I haven’t really wanted to get back to it, but I feel like I have to. Isn’t that sad?!

Anyway, I’ll try to think of something to blog about. I’ll have to go back to extremely mundane thoughts. A book, a song, a reality tv show, a picture of my puppy. Something inane, I guess. 🙂

How about this for starters – I actually watched Dancing with the Stars this week. I used to love that show. I don’t get to watch it much any more because, we also DVR Chuck, Heroes, and 24 on Mondays. The DVR can only handle so much, unfortunately. However, I was impressed with a couple of dancers, including whoever the Melissa girl is from the Bachelor (never watched that one). I also called and lodged my first votes for American Idol this year. I was a Danny/Anoop fan, and still am, but my new favorite contestant, hands down, is Kris Allen. I think he’s awesome, and I’m going to vote for him as long as he continues to impress me every week 😀

Hope all is well out there in blogland!

P.S. I’m trying out a new template for spring and summer. I’ve had another one on here that I liked better (red), but in IE, the comments are HUGE. I hope this one is alright in whatever browser you use. Please let me know if you have any problems or complaints about it 🙂 I like the ocean side of it, the “earth” side is a little dark for me, but still nice. The “ocean” part of it looks like summer to me 😀

  1. mamichelle Said,

I think it looks really nice!!

Glad you’re back but I can’t contribute since I don’t watch either shows. My mom watches Dancing though. She always tries to talk me into it since I took dancing lessons for 14 yrs.

Ugh….I hope you feel better! That’s terrible, Stacy!! Hang in there and get lots of rest.

  2. Lynne Said,

Welcome back Stacy! I’m sorry you’ve been feeling under the weather. Headaches are absolutely no fun at all. Hope you’re better now.

Blog when you can – exceedingly mundane thoughts are fine!

I like the ocean template! Makes me want to jump right in!

  3. Dianne Said,

Glad to see a stacy-post! I understand how you feel about blogging. I still have my on-the-fence days. Of course I really shot myself in the foot, “officially” quitting several times – ha. But I’m learning there are seasons and to just go with the flow . . . not put so much pressure on myself either way.

We are knee-deep into 24 and NCIS right now. None of the reality shows have grabbed me this season but I usually watch the final episodes of AI anyways. I can’t wait for the Next Food Network Star this summer.

Oh love the template too – so cool!

  4. annie Said,

I understand too… but I think I’ll keep on blogging. I’ve just made too many special friends to quit.

  5. Susanne Said,

Welcome back. Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well, but I hope everything is on the mend now. I’m sorta bored with DWTS this year. And AI has been interesting. I like Danny and Kris too.

  6. Desert Songbird Said,

There’s nothing wrong with being on the fence about blogging. I know there have been times I haven’t blogged and it seems that no one has missed me. Then I’ll start blogging at the end of the week (most people just expect me early in the week), and very few people read my posts. It can be a bit discouraging.

Don’t pressure yourself one way or the other about when to post or if to continue posting. If it’s time to stop, you’ll know.

  7. Maria Said,

Welcome back, Stacy! I missed your posts. Sorry you were feeling so sick. That’s a bummer.

I am not sure exactly who I’m rooting for on American Idol. Can’t decide yet. I like Dancing with the Stars too.

I know I spend way too much time on this laptop! I could be doing something much more productive! Have you finished reading The Five Love Languages? I want to read that book soon.

Take care and I hope you don’t stop blogging for good.

  8. Kara Said,

I haven’t been blogging much lately either and I have been sick, too. Maybe we are in some kind fo parallel universes…

  9. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

So sorry you were so sick! Glad you are back and willing to keep blogging!

  10. Tressa Said,

Hello, I was wondering if you still did scrapbooking? I seen your post on scraptalk and I just moved to Mississippi in January, so I do not know many people. I am a CTMH Consultant and am doing lousy here. Like I said, just wondering if you still scrapped I am looking for someone else to scrap with. I am not trying to sell to you. But if you want to buy, you can. But I am really just looking for a friend to scrap with. Give me a call or email me if you would like to talk. Thank You For Your Time,
    Looking forward to talking

  11. Debi Said,

I’m so very sorry you were so sick, sweetie!

I understand what you mean about not missing the computer! It can be so time consuming, and feel like it’s sucking up your life. And at the same time, stopping entirely seems out of the question because computers and the internet are really so useful. Besides, I would miss my friends way too much. But I’ve decided to take a week long break every month or so…just to help me stay focused on what really matters. I hope you won’t stop blogging altogether, but would definitely support you and understand if you do.

Have a wonderful, wonderful week Stacy!

  12. Gail Said,

I hope you’re feeling better by now! It’s a bummer when you feel bad for so long.
Your new look is nice! No problems for me in my browser.
I’m still watching too much reality tv, Kris is good but Danny is still my favorite!

  13. Dawn Said,

Wow. I’m sorry sorry you’ve been feeling yucky. =( That’s a long time to be sick. I hope you’re starting to perk up some! I’ve gotten into a good groove of blogging when I feel like it (the Grace in Small Things posts keep me making a daily post but if I don’t have something else to add, sometimes for days at a time, then I don’t & I don’t give it a second thought!) and then I play on Twitter & Facebook as time allows. I do keep up with my email because it’s how I keep in touch with so many of my friends but I read blogs when I can & I don’t let it stress me out.

I was a big Danny fan and I still am, but I am also *really* loving Matt Giraud. I think he may be a real dark horse this season!

  14. Shawna Said,

Sometimes it is nice to step away from all the computer stuff and actually see people in real life!! I don’t post as much, and it seems to be better for me because I get more stuff done.

I’ve been watching American Idol, and I like the funky, dramatic dude. The one with the dark hair that sang a crazy version of one of Johnny Cash’s songs. Is that Kris? I didn’t really like what he did for country music week, but he can really sing.
