Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great New Years Eve celebrating, and hopefully it was a safe one. We stay home on New Years Eve. I don’t like to be out with the crazies 🙂 I grew up working a jigsaw puzzle with my sister Suzanne during the holidays, and have carried that tradition over to me and Tim. We pull out a jigsaw puzzle on New Years Eve (or sometimes the day before, but this year, it was NY Eve evening before we opened it) and then work on it until it’s complete. This year it’s a 1000 piece so it will take a few days.

I haven’t had much blogging mojo lately with the holidays. I hope that disappears soon. I realized a few days ago that I’m coming up on my four year blogging anniversary. I really and truly often feel that I have run out of things to say! 😀 Hopefully I can think of something soon to blog about 🙂

I hope to be back after the long NY holiday weekend and talk books a little. I completed 88 books in 08. Love the alliteration! I am contemplating joining two reading challenges for 09, but I have to check to see if I can even still sign up now. I had it all in the back of my head, but with the holidays, I haven’t done a thing about signing up, or picking books.

Hope you’re all having a great holiday and are off to a fantastic start to 2009! Take care and have a great holiday weekend!

P.S. If you’re not seeing the new blue theme, with a snowy cabin at the top, please look on the top right side of my blog. There’s two “skins” to this theme, and the summer one is green. Click on the winter one to see what I wished it looked like here! 🙂

  1. Desert Songbird Said,

Oh, I dunno, I think I prefer looking at a summer scene myself. 😛

  2. mamichelle Said,

Ok, I feel more at home with the winter skin. It’s life in New England. What’s a girl to do?!! It is pretty but very cold. I think it was 7 degrees without the windchill today. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…..

Did you finish the jigsaw? I used to do those with my MIL and then my boys when they were younger.

    Happy New Year!

  3. Kim Said,

Happy New Years! We had a quiet New Years Eve too. Our two boys went to a friend’s house, so it was just Kerry and I. We went to Applebees for appetizers and a drink–early before too many crazies were out and about. Came back home and played a game and then watched a movie! My husband is a big fan of puzzles and I gave him one for Christmas along with a mat you can roll it up in when not working on it–our house is small and we don’t have a great area to leave one out long term. He started it a couple of days ago and I think it is a 1,000 piece one too.

Way to go on those 88 books! You beat me! I hope you have another great year of reading in ’09 too.
    *smiles*
    Kim

  4. Debi Said,

Well, you beat me by one…I read 87 books. Which was frankly pretty good for me.

May you have a fabulous 2009, full of love and joy!

  5. YellowRose Said,

Sounds like a good NY’s to me! (Better than the way I have spent mine! LOL) I like the winter theme, very pretty!

Have a very Happy New Year my friend and I look forward to seeing what you have to say in 2009! Hugs!

  6. sherry Said,

I really love how your blog is set up with the tabs on the top! Very cool! And I like the choice in skins too 🙂 I updated my blog as well — it’s very girly and pink – which is very me.

    Sherry

  7. Karen Said,

I like the winter scene. I’m so impressed that you have it set up this way. I’ve never seen a blog that can change like this. We often have a jigsaw puzzle going during the holidays. I didn’t get one started this year, but we received one in a gift basket, so after the Christmas decorations are put away, I think I’ll get it out and put it on the dining room table to work on.

We went to an early movie yesterday evening — Australia. It was good, and we were home by 9:00.

    Happy New Year!

  8. Write From Karen Said,

I had bookmarked this and thought of you when I read your post: http://www.mombloggersclub.com/page/101-post-ideas-for-your-mom

It’s a 101 post ideas for your mom blog but you know, mom-schmom, it applies to blog topics in general. Anyway, it may help get your blog mojo back? 🙂

    And happy early blog birthday!

  9. Jill Said,

Happy New Year to you. I love the puzzle idea for NYE. I love going out for dinner but like to get home early because I am totally with you on the CRAZIES!

  10. JEN Said,

I love the cabin look although it pulled up the summer look too. But hey I like it also. We should do a puzzle I think my little family would like to do it. We just dont have anywhere to do it on.
    Enjoy the long weekend.

  11. Eileen Said,

I love puzzles! I haven’t done one in years because it’s just hard with the little ones. I have nowhere to set one up and leave it up without them getting into it. BUT I recently bought one of those mats you do your puzzle on and can roll it up when you’re not working on it. I have 2 puzzles waiting on me.

I love the winter look of your blog! With our cold snowy weather though, I’m wishing for more of the summer look in real life. 🙂

    Happy New Year!

  12. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

It sounds like you had a relaxing NYE! Working a puzzle together sounds like a wonderful tradition. We went to a friend’s house (with our kids), but we were home by 9:30. Our kids wake up by 6:30 no matter what, so if we stay up late, we pay the next day!

I hope your 2009 is wonderful!

  13. annie Said,

I suggested your puzzle tradition with matt and he didn’t bite… but I may do it anyway and let the kids help with it. It sounds like a really fun thing to do.
I saw Benjamin Buttons on NYE. It ended at 2a.m. The couple in the seats next to us snored the last half of the movie. Pretty funny. The theater we went to had heated seats and served dinner. I wouldn’t pay that much again for a movie but it was a fun experience.
    Happy New Year!
(our last scramble match my computer freaked out and didn’t load my score for one round. ugh 🙂 … You and Gail give great competition!)

  14. Maria Said,

I hope you keep blogging–yours is one of my faves. Great job on reading all those books! I look forward to your posts on books. Happy New Year to you!

  15. Susanne Said,

Happy New Year to you too Stacy! Love the winter skin. And it does look like that at my house. In fact, we’ve had more snow this Christmas than I ever remember.

    Cool puzzle tradition you have.

  16. Dawn Said,

    Happy 2009 Stacy!

  17. Heidi @ GGIP Said,

Happy New Year! I can’t believe you’ve been blogging almost 4 years!
