Just a quick update. I don’t have much time to get on a computer here lately. I am really missing my laptop. It died a week ago, but just now arrived at the service center today. I’ve had no notification from this unknown third-party repair company that has our extended service contract. I certainly hope they realize how much I *need* my computer to be repaired, returned to me safely, and in a timely manner. Somehow, I don’t think they have quite the same sense of urgency and importance attached to it as I do πŸ™‚

Let’s see – we had a really good weekend. We got to hang out with Chris and Elizabeth a lot on Saturday and had a blast playing the Wii. I think we played almost the whole day πŸ™‚ I even played golf, which is hard to believe! The topic for Sunday’s sermon was good too – “How to Handle Adversity”. Good stuff. Tim and I played more on the Wii Sunday afternoon – I had to work hard to keep him away from the “real” golf course, hehehehe!

We have watched a couple of movies lately that we liked. I really liked “27 Dresses” and Tim (though he’d be loathe to admit it) enjoyed it more than he expected. We both liked “The Bucket List” and despite hearing bad stuff about “Fool’s Gold”, it wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be. Not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but we’ve certainly seen worse. We’ve got a lot of stuff on the DVR that we need to go through. I’m looking forward to a new episode of “Jon and Kate Plus 8” tonight πŸ™‚

It’s hot here, and no rain. I’ve been watering and running the sprinklers on the grass, and quite frankly, I’m over summer already. I wish it would go back to being tolerable weather with frequent rain showers. This hot and dry stuff is for the birds!

How much is milk and gas in your area? Our Walmart is up to $4.15 for a gallon of fat-free milk. More than gas, which we paid 3.81 for over the weekend. We used our Kroger card and got 3 cents off their regular price of 3.84. At least it hasn’t hit 4.00 here. Yet.

I’ll try to formulate a better post later in the week. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and you’re off to a great start on your week!

Sorry your laptop is broken…makes you feel like your right arm is broken, doesn’t it?

Sounds like you had a great weekend! I am still wanting a Wii, we have played my sisters and love it!

I loved 27 dresses, great movie! Haven’t see The Bucket List yet, I’m so behind on my movie watching…

    Have a great week!!

  2. mamichelle Said,

Glad you had a great weekend! Sorry you have to go through the computer issues
    though.

I’m not sure what our milk is at but our cheapest gas is $3.98. Most places are $4.05-4.15. Outrageous!!!!!!!

  3. Debi Said,

Gosh, what is wrong with me…I’ve never heard of 27 Dresses or The Bucket List!

I think our milk is now around $3.19 a gallon. But gas is now $4.23.

Good luck with your computer! Hope it’s home where it belongs real soon!

  4. Gail Said,

I head about all the wii playing! Liz said her arm was tired/sore! Hope the computer gets back to you fast, I miss you being around. πŸ™‚
Finally I think they are sending me Bucket List, it kept saying long wait for me all the time but think it’s shipping next.
You’re so over summer? YOU’RE SO OVER SUMMER! Girl, you do know this is JUST June! July, August and most of September will probably be worse.
Let’s see, I only got a half gallon today but think the gallon price for milk is something like 3.75 maybe? Could be a bit more….when I was at walmart today their gas was 3.67, which was fairly unusual. I would have thought more.

  5. sherry Said,

Milk can still be found on sale for 2.50 a gallon here – regular price is about 3.19 most places.

Gas has a really wide range! In a 5 mile radius you’ll see anywhere from 3.93 all the way up to 4.29!!!

I thought 27 Dresses was really a cute movie. I liked it.

    Sherry

  6. Dianne Said,

Wow, your gas is cheap there. Ours is $3.99, pushing $4. Yuck-o! I have no idea how much milk is though!

The Bucket List is on my list- glad to hear you enjoyed it.

  7. Eileen Said,

    I want a Wii!!!!!

I think gas is close to $3.90 right now, not sure exactly. Not sure about milk either but I don’t think it is as high as $4.15! Yikes.

I almost never watch movies but I’d like to rent 27 Dresses one of these days.

I love Jon & Kate! Their Mady is my Lindsey, to a “T”. I like to see I’m not alone. LOL

    Have a great day!

  8. Meredith Said,

Hi Stacy…I’m so glad you entered my book giveaway!

I just watched the Bucket List and loved it. Man, I didn’t know I was gonna cry like a baby though. Also liked 27 Dresses, and still want to see Fool’s Gold.

Gas here is 3.89 and has been for several weeks. Milk? Dunno. I get mine from a dairy delivery service, and I know it’s more than $4/gallon but I don’t know how much. We’re not big milk drinkers though, so I’m not feeling the pinch there nearly as much as I am at the pump. Ouch.

  9. kathie Said,

    Hello from Costa Rica,
Enjoyed visiting your blog today. Here the temperature is around 60 at night, might ocassionally get up to 80 during the day, and we are in the middle of the rainy season. In other words, it RAINS……ALOT. It is rare that a day will pass that it doesn´t rain. However, my roses love it and are blooming like crazy. As to the price of things here…..you might want to sit down. Milk is around $5 a gallon and gas is $5.15 as of this morning. The government says they are going to subsidies and lower the price, but I´ll believe that when it actually happens.
    Blessings

  10. Dawn Said,

They better understand the sense of urgency here! I bet they have one if it’s their own machine!

I want to see 27 Dresses. It’s on my list. I saw The Bucket List. I enjoyed it. Even for a sad movie, it was pretty light & funny.

I haven’t seen the most recent Jon & Kate. I have it recorded on my DVR though! I love that show. They are so… *real*.

I don’t know about milk here — the most I ever get is a pint for $1. Gas is between $3.95 & $3.97 here (a little higher at some places but they tend to run higher tha n the rest all the time) for reglar.

  11. heather Said,

I also liked 27 Dresses very much and recently watched Knocked Up b/c of that and really liked it too. Which is funny b/c I cannot stand her on Grey’s and usually when I cannot stand somewhere on something else I cannot watch a movie with them. I am glad I caved and made myself watch her movies. I did not like the Bucket List which I was very surprised b/c I really love both men and really liked the concept going in. I will be watching Fool’s Gold tonight at work along with The 40 Year Old Virgin. I started it and really like it so far. We also love Jon and Kate plus 8 here. They crack us up. I love her and well my husband appreciates me just a bit more b/c he says I am not as nagging as her.
As for milk and gas…milk not sure (really have not been paying attention to that just buy it b/c we need it regardless) and gas is at Stop and Shop with my card and my 10 cents coupon I usually end up paying only about 4.18 but that is really cheap around here compared to many.

  12. Jill Said,

I need to see some movies – thanks for the recommendations. I used to go to the movie theater at least a couple times a month, and now I can’t even stay awake for a rental at home. Gas in suburban Atlanta is about $3.99. Not sure about milk since we don’t drink it.

  13. cam Said,

    Gas- 3.94

Milk- I only buy organic and that only comes in half-gallons, and it’s $3.60 for a half-gallon. It hurts to pay that much, but I cannot bring myself to drink the regular commercial milk–much less give it to my kid. It’s scary what’s in there.

  14. Shawna Said,

I just rented Fool’s Gold but haven’t watched it yet. I’ve been watching the Alias series almost every night and am really liking it. Plus, I really do like John and Kate plus eight. What a riot!

  15. Kim Said,

You NEED to come live up here! The weather is finally perfect–mid to uppper ’70s, with a marine air breeze gently blowing–blue blue skies, green grass, and sparkling Puget Sound and Lake Washington! The it will be toasty here this weekend, up into the 80s, but as usual around here, the hot nasty weather never sticks around long–thanks to that wonderful marine air and will be back down into the ’70s by next week. I honestly don’t know how y’all do it down there–I would be one crabby cranky mess all summer long if I had to put up with your heat and humidity. We lived in Minnesota for 3 years–and I was never so happy as when we moved back to the Northwest! πŸ™‚

Your books sound fun and I am so sorry to hear about your laptop–what rotten luck you have had with that. I hope it gets fixed. I finished the newest Maisie Dobbs mystery and as usual, enjoyed it. I am like you–I enjoy most all of the books I read. If I don’t enjoy it, I quit reading it—-life is too short to be wasted on a book I am not enjoying!

Twenty Seven dress is a favorite of mine–and The Bucket List is one I want to see. I also want to rent Fools Gold this weekend–I saw it in the theater with a girlfriend and I think it will be fun to watch with my husband who hasn’t seen it yet.

Gas prices here………unbelievable. I paid $4.39 a gallon last weekend and about wanted to scream and stamp my feet at the pump. Mile is hovering around $2.39 at Winco–one of our cheapest stores around here. I think at one of the major grocery stores it is running more like $3.89 or so.
My food bill is going up every week and that makes me want to scream and stamp my feet also–but I do exhibit more self control than that !!! πŸ™‚

Hope you are having a wonderful Friday. Enjoy your air conditioning, girl!
    *smiles*
    Kim

  16. Suzanne Said,

    I even liked 27 Dresses.
I am paying around $4.17 to $4.27 for gas. It stinks!

  17. Maria Said,

I loved 27 Dresses. Thought it was cute. I’ll have to ask my hubby to put Fool’s Gold on the Netflix list.

Our gas in the Los Angeles area is currently $4.57 at the nearest pump to our home. It’s actually down from a couple of weeks ago!

I’ll have to check on milk when I go to the market today.
