Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut…

Nutssometimes, you don’t!

I’ve been trying to get on the treadmill every day. We’ve had it a week and a half and I’ve only skipped 1 or 2 days so far. So far this week, I’ve done 3.5 miles (Monday) and 4.0 miles (Tuesday). Let me tell you, it’s kicking my behind. And, to make matters worse, I got on the scale this morning, expecting to have lost weight. Boy, was I disappointed!

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. While on the treadmill, I’ve been watching a bunch of cooking shows that I have saved on our DVR. I watched a baking show yesterday and they made several kinds of cookies and bar cookies. Most of the recipes had nuts and that made me think – does everyone like nuts? I know a lot of kids these days have allergies to certain kinds of nuts. How about you – do you like nuts in your cookies? If you’re going to bake chocolate chip cookies, do you add pecans or walnuts, or do you not want a nut to spoil your cookie? I don’t mind, but I don’t always add them. I think Tim prefers his chocolate chips cookies and other baked stuff to be plain, but he will gladly eat them either way 🙂

That’s today’s “Question of the Day” – nuts in your cookies and baked goods, or not? Leave me a comment and let me know!

  1. Gail Said,

Usually I don’t put them in cookies if I’m making cookies! I don’t mind them I guess but sometimes I don’t want them in. Now if I’m eating ones from somewhere else or someone else made and they have nuts I surely won’t turn them down! Because I am the original cookie monster!
Maybe if you don’t watch cooking while you walk it’ll help in the weight loss, lol!
Watch an exercise show or something!

  2. Desert Songbird Said,

Usually no nuts because I don’t have them on hand. I eat them too fast!

  3. Debi Said,

Oh nuts, definitely! They make everything better if you ask me! But definitely walnuts, not pecans! Pecans are the one nut I just don’t like (though I probably shouldn’t admit that to a southerner, huh?).

  4. Karen Said,

I love nuts in everything! But, there a couple members of my family that don’t. So, our cookies are nutless.

  5. Heidi Said,

I love nuts. Pecans are my favorites. However, I think twice about adding them because my good friend (who I see a lot) is allergic to all nuts but peanuts. Good question!!

  6. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

I don’t like nuts in desserts, but I like them by themselves. I really like cashews.

  7. Cam Said,

I am a nut nut! I would put them in all my baking, but for one problem. Guess who doesn’t like them. Yay, Philip. LOL

  8. Sarah Said,

First of all I have TAGGED you for a MEME…checkout my blog….secondly I so get the lack of TM motivation!!

  9. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,

    No Nuts!

I’ll eat them, but Jeff won’t.

  10. mamichelle Said,

You are a nut, Stacy!! LOL First off, I don’t lose weight when I’m on the treadmill (especially at first) because muscle weighs more than fat. Keep up the great work and don’t worry. Your clothes will fit better. Take it from me….haven’t been on the treadmill in MONTHS and I had to buy new clothes.

YES, absolutely on the nuts. I have to do 1/2 and 1/2 in my house when it comes to brownies or cookies. My dh thinks nuts ruin the flavor of both and I feel they enhance the flavor! My boys and dh will eat magic bars with all the walnuts on them but they prefer their cookies and brownies plain.

I am a nut-o-holic. I have a container at my desk at all times!!

  11. Dianne Said,

Interesting question. I love nuts in my cookies but growing up we couldn’t have them in the house b/c my sis was deathly allergic to them. Her daughter is too, weird. I’m very careful when i bake around Christmas, not to use nuts on a day I might be baking something to share with family. But yes, I LOVE nuts – any kind. Probably b/c I was so deprived as a kid!

Keep up the good work on the treadmill – results will come!

  12. Dawn Said,

I am not allergic to them or anything, but I never put them in my baking and my preference is nut-free. I have all the nuts I can handle at work. =P

  13. Jill Said,

I use them occasionally when baking mostly because my family doesn’t care for them. I love them and prefer them. A handful of peanuts or almonds is much more appealing to me than a few pieces of chocolate.

  14. Sadie Said,

I don’t like nuts at all. Ever. In cookies or anything else. Nope, not even peanut butter.

    I know, I’m weird.

  15. Kara Said,

Doesn’t make a bit of difference to me. I like them, but can live without them. I guess basically what I am saying is that I will eat anything! Keep up the treadmill…it will pay off eventually!

  16. Sonya Said,

I like them both ways actually. I do like nuts but rarely ever put nuts in what I’m baking since others don’t seem to care for them. The last thing I need is a lot of cookies no one will eat and that job fall to me! LOL!

  17. jen Said,

I could take them or leace them. I do like them though…pecans preferable…
