QOTD – Online Music

MusicI’m recycling some old questions from the early years of my blog. You know, back when I only had 2 or 3 readers (Hello to my sisters and also Dawn and Deb!).

Today’s Question of the Day is all about music. I’d love it if you’d leave me a comment and answer any or all of these questions:

Have you ever looked up the lyrics to a song online?
Do you download music from online sites? If so, which ones?
Do you have an iPod or other mp3 player that you use? How often do you use it? Do you use it while exercising, commuting, reading, just hanging out, or when?
What was the last music you downloaded?
What was the last song or CD that you listened to?

Lastly, but probably most importantly – recommend some music to me. Please, I need inspiration! That treadmill is getting harder and harder to go anywhere near and I need some new music to walk to 🙂 Lately, I’ve either been listening to some Bon Jovi from the 80’s or the Daughtry album while I walk. I need something new and upbeat. Help!

Have a wonderful day!

    yes. itunes and rhapsody.
    ipod shuffle. not much.
I downloaded music for emelia’s ipod from itunes yesterday.
I am now listening to the mama mia soundtrack.

I used to love running to sheryl crow (her older cd)…

  2. Karen Said,

I don’t think I’ve ever looked up lyrics online and I know I haven’t downloaded music, because I wouldn’t know how! I downloaded a ringtone once, so maybe I could figure it out. I don’t have an ipod, I have an MP3 player, but it’s sitting in a closet still in the box. I am soooo out of it. I wish I could still buy cassette tapes! The last CD I listened to was in my car — Toby Keith. I’m sorry I’m not much help!

  3. dianne Said,

oooh this is easy! first, i am including a link (i hope it works) to an iMix our pastor put together for the current sermon series. this has been a great mix; i think you will really like it.

    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewIMix?id=284475221&s=143441&v0=575

    now to answer your questions:

Have you ever looked up the lyrics to a song online? regularly! for some reason, i can never quite make out all the lyrics just by listening so i often look them up.
Do you download music from online sites? If so, which ones? i stick to amazon for mp3 downloads
Do you have an iPod or other mp3 player that you use? sansa How often do you use it? Do you use it while exercising, commuting, reading, just hanging out, or when? I listen to it almost daily at work and also while i walk. usually podcasts when walking and music at work.
What was the last music you downloaded? the iMix noted above.
What was the last song or CD that you listened to? Love Like Rain by Daniel Doss Band – oh my what a beautiful piece of music!

  4. Bev Said,

I do look up lyrics occasionally. I’ve also downloaded from Zune Marketplace and Walmart but most of the time I just buy the CD. One never knows what one will find that doesn’t hit the airwaves. Both the Kid and I have a Zune. I use it throughout the day. I hook it up to the stereo in the living room to listen to it during the day, but at night when I’m reading I use the head phones. The last thing I remembering downloading were a bunch of songs for The Kid. The last thing I listened to were different songs by Dan Fogelberg and Kenny Loggins. I listen to those most often, but also bands like Kansas, Journey, and Chicago. Every so often Reba, Enya, Trisha Yearwood, and various soundtracks.

  5. Gail Said,

Hey there sis! Here’s my answers:

    1. YES, hello! I use song titles for posts so I do it all the time! But not only for that, we’ll hear a song and someone will want to know what it’s saying so I look it up…..still trying to find that stupid don’t smoke thing for Don!
    2. Yes, I get music from itunes
    3. I have an ipod and use it while walking (today, yay! but short) and I put it in the dock and listen when I clean up the kitchen and once in a while in the car but I’ve discovered that you can’t plug the ipod in while driving to listen and that’s VERY annoying to me
    4. I don’t remember the last music I downloaded! So it must be time to get something else! I did borrow some of Liz’s cds and put them into my itunes, still have a few more to go through; she’s like a gold mine!
    5. The last song I listened to was “Jackson” by Dave Barnes on my ipod this morning.

I’ve been wanting to get some Billy Joel music but that “gold mine” had it! The Essential BJ or greatest hits, I’ve forgotten but it’s 2 cds! I also snagged Chasing Mississippi by Dave Barnes (see answer #5) I might be looking to get something by Martina McBride next but you probably already have most of that. I think you’d like Dave Barnes.

  6. Sandra Said,

I look up lyrics and I download music ALL the time. I use Limewire to download and have never had problems with spyware or anything.

  7. mamichelle Said,

Ok, I have definitely looked up lyrics. My dh and I argue sometimes ;-). I could tell you some funny ones….

He downloads tunes for his band. I don’t. I have so much music that I don’t bother but I really would love to get a few new ones. We both have Ipods and listen to them all the time.

The last cd I listened to was in my car (I have 6 on shuffle). I think it was KT Tunstall. I just love her. I think the others are Sheryl Crow, Jack Johnson (LOVE him), De Sol, Anna Nalick.

Recommendations for walking: Santana/Smooth, Knickelback? I can’t think of anything at the moment!

Cool questions. I love anything regarding music!

Do you download music from online sites? If so, which ones?
    -yes, mostly from LimeWire.

    -daily

-every day while I work out. I also use it several times a week when D is napping and I’m going around cleaning the house. Or when I’m down and need a pick-me-up. I used to use it in bed at night, but that’s on hold until I’m back to the days where sleep isn’t such a precious commodity!

Some of my favorite walking songs are by Prince, Psychedelic Furs, Nu Shooz, Outfield, Men Without Hats…pretty much all 80s stuff. And John Denver–LOVE listening to him while I’m walking!

  14. Valtool Said,
