Manic Monday

FootballWe’re still in a post-Super Bowl haze, post party weekend mood around here. Sort of a Manic Monday, to say the least. 🙂

We had a great weekend, busy, but fun. Friday night was date night and we finally went to the new P.F. Changs that opened last fall really close to our house. We called about 5 PM and they had reservations booked through 9 PM, but we went ahead and got on the list anyway. We had a great meal – appetizer (Sizchuan style chicken flatbreads), two entrees (spicy chicken for Tim and Shrimp with Candied Walnuts for me) and then, as if that wasn’t enough, Tim wanted to get dessert and coffee. We splurged and got their 6 layer “Great Wall of Chocolate” cake with raspberry sauce. Suffice it to say, we were stuffed! It was delicious though, and I look forward to going back and trying more items on their menu. Saturday was spent going to several stores to get food for our party, and cleaning up the house beforehand. Sunday morning, we went to early church and then hurried back to start food. We had about 20 people here, at differing times, from 12 noon until after 10 PM. We 6 slabs of ribs, burgers, hot dogs, sausages and cheese, boiled peanuts, wings, potato salad, chips, veggie tray, Li’l Smokies, cheesesticks, cookies and hopefully everyone had enough and enjoyed it all. I know we did!

We were thrilled with the outcome of the game, of course! The last few minutes had most of us up on our feet, cheering, clapping, hi-fiving and everything else. 🙂

I haven’t planned a menu for this week yet, and probably won’t for a day or so. We have a little bit of food left that we’ll eat for the next day or two. I won’t plan meals until we’ve exhausted all that we bought and had. After we’ve cleaned all that out, I’ll probably fix breakfast food one night for dinner, maybe a pasta dish or maybe get Tim to grill out meat and me fix some veggies one night. I’ll be back next week with a “regular” menu. 🙂

Today is all about cleaning. My very small house is not really a place to entertain more than about 4 or 6 people 🙂 I have quite a bit of cleaning up to do. I’ll be pretty busy today and tomorrow getting everything cleaned up, and laundry done, etc. I’ll try to be back tomorrow with something interesting to blog about 😀

I didn’t take a lot of photos on Super Bowl Sunday, but I thought I’d post a couple. The ribs going on the grill, and poor Beau, who was confined to our little laundry room for most of the day. Pathetic, isn’t he?!

Sounds like you had a great party! Good food, good game – what more could you want?? Poor Beau – he looks so sad.

  2. Amanda Said,

It was a GREAT party! I hate that we had to leave at half time. I really wanted to watch the half time show, but Mark really wanted to get on the road. We did listen to it all the way home and were high-fiving ourselves. We got home right after it was over and got to see all the highlight reels. It was a good game, great food (especailly the ribs) and great company! Thanks for inviting us!

  3. Sandra Said,

I’m SO happy for the Giants, the last minute was heart wrenching for us LOL I was getting so worried that we had lost and that last touchdown was just amazing 🙂

Sounds like you had a great time 🙂

  4. Heidi Said,

Wow! That was a big spread you had!! I wish I was there. Although the party we went to had a bunch of food too. My husband is a Giants fan so he was so happy about the game.

Glad you had fun. There is a PF CHangs in Atlantic City, but I don’t know of a closer one (and that one is NOT close, but I do know of some people who went all the way there just to eat at that restaurant).

  5. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,

My handsome Beau-boy. I hope he enjoyed his freedom today!!

  6. Gail Said,

You went to PF Changs! I still want to go too. 🙂

Man, y’all had some serious food and really serious meat at your gathering! Makes my little spread look wimpy…..I need to come take lessons from the pros, b/c y’all seem to be that at everything!
    Good game!

Beau looks sad. 🙁 I think I’ve seen that look a time or 2.

  7. theresa Said,

You need to try the lettuce wraps as an appetizer- they are delish!

What a fun party you threw, wish I lived closer so I could of come (yeah I am one of those who just invites myself) None of my friends had a party so we just watched the game ourselves. I liked both teams, so I routed for the offenses- however I think Giants defense stole the game.

Beau looks like he partied too hard!

  8. Karen Said,

Sounds like you had a great party! I was cheering for the Giants and what an exciting game it turned out to be!

  9. mamichelle Said,

Booo hoooo on the outcome! I don’t really like football but I wanted our Pats to win. Oh well… I guess someone else needs a turn.

You are killing me with the Szechuan descriptions. I’m drooling! And ribs are one of my favorites. YUM!

You had quite the party! We only had another couple over. My hubby wanted to make sure he could see/hear the game. LOL

  10. Fresh Girl Said,

Poor Beau! He looks downright pitiful. I hope he got some of those yummy looking ribs. 😉

Wasn’t that game magnificent! I still get a big ol’ goofy smile on my face every time I think of the last minute and a half of the game. 😀

Glad you got finally got to eat at PF Chang’s! I’ve never been, but my brother and SIL love it. They often get that Great Wall of Chocolate thing.

  11. Cam Said,

    Poor pitiful Beau! 😉

I’m not into the super bowl at all, but I would’ve come just to share that yummy food! LOL!

  12. Shawna Said,

Wow! That sounded like a great party. Those ribs look good. Hope the clean up doesn’t tire you out too much.

  13. Debi Said,

Awww…poor Beau! Doesn’t he do well with people around?

  14. Dawn Said,

Looks like you guys had a yummy party 🙂 …and beau…he’s just so cute with that look. I haven’t sat and watched a football game in a long time, but I couldn’t leave the tv Sunday night. I even screamed at the tv a few times and with that final pass jumped off the couch rolling poor Ruby to the floor. That was one of the best games I’ve ever watched and now I’m so glad we watched the game! So happy for NY too 🙂 Gotta support our MS guys!
