Today’s Question of the Day is all about on-the-go breakfast items. I’m talking about things like pop-tarts and granola bars, things like that. There’s SO many varieties of granola and breakfast bars on my grocery store shelves. I think there’s more every month! Do you buy them and have them in your house? Do you eat them yourselves or does someone else, like your spouse or kids? If you do, what brands and flavors do you like?
As for me, I love the things, but I try really hard not to buy them and have them in the house. I loved Pop-Tarts growing up and would not only eat them for breakfast, but for snacks or nighttime, or anytime. The flavors I like (chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, etc) are very dangerous for me to have around. I am not quite as bad with granola bars and such, but I like those too. I find that granola bars aren’t quite enough for me, for breakfast or a snack. Seems like about 3 bites and then it’s gone, LOL! Tim likes the Quaker ones that have chocolate chips or peanut butter in them, so I bought those for a long time. I have also tried and liked several of the Caribou Coffee ones. Again, I try not to buy them, but boy, every time I go down the cereal aisle, I think there are more flavors and more options. I’ve been eyeing those sweet and salty ones lately and wondering if they are any good.
How about you? Do you buy or eat on-the-go breakfast items like Pop-Tarts or granola bars? Or do you have them around for someone else? Are they just morning items in your house, or afternoon or evening snack items, too? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂
Oh, and have a wonderful day!
We usually only eat them when we are travelling. I eat regular cereal on most days!
My skinny ds eats the Variety Pack – Cheerios, Cocoa Krispies & Cin. Toast Crunch. My ds eats the lower fat ones (chewy w/honey & almonds). I eat the South Beach ones occasionally.
If calories weren’t an issue, I’d choose those sweet & salty ones with loads of nuts. Yum!!
I’m just like you on this! Love them, but don’t dare keep them in the house. They go fast, and they don’t do anything but make me gain weight. We haven’t kept them around in years!
My husband loves those Quaker ones too. We buy them sometimes. I too am prone to snacking on them.
However, I am trying to get my husband to actually sit down and eat some cereal or toast or breakfast bread (home made) before he goes to work. I KNOW he doesn’t take a lunchbreak at work, so I would like him to at least start the day off right.
I get the Quaker ones sometimes, and also the ones by Kashi. I don’t consider them breakfast though. They don’t fill me up either. But I like having them on hand for a mid-morning snack, or to supplement my yogurt or fruit when I have that for breakfast.
Hey Stacy! Thanks so much for stopping by! It’s been forever, huh?! LOL! As for breakfast bars, nope, don’t eat them or buy them. We’re not big breakfast eaters here, anyway. As for snacking on them, not my kinda snack, either.
Not real big on the breakfast bars, but I do buy the WW muffins to bring to the office to eat while I drink my coffee. I use to do the bars, but just got tired of them but when I did I think it was the Kellogs blueberry that I got 🙂
We don’t do breakfast bars or pop tarts…….mostly cereal or traditional breakfast foods. Once in a while I’ll get some kind of granola bar but they’re usually only for snacks, almost never for breakfast.
Low Fat Strawberry with Frosting Pop-Tarts. Everyday!
They even got me a shirt with Pop-Tarts on it. Gotta love those co-workers!!
I keep blueberry pop tarts in the pantry for Bailey, instant strawberries & cream oatmeal for amanda, emelia eats breakfast at school or likes a ham sandwich. . . she’s not much of a breakfast eater… but I like to keep kashi pumpkin flax seed bars for me. They are healthy & taste pretty good too.
I love pop tarts and granola bars! Pop tarts, especially… blueberry (NOT frosted…frosted pop tarts are of the Devil, I think. ), brown sugar, Chocolate fudge (actually, those frosted ones are okay.) In college, I ate them all the time…like you, at just about any time of the day. And not just one at a time either — one PACK at a time. 😉
Needless to say, I don’t buy such things anymore. 😉
I rarely buy Pop Tarts as my boys go through them so fast! We buy the Nature Valley Oats granola bars at Costco. I eat one package (two granola bars, under 200 calories) every morning for breakfast with my coffee. That usually lasts me until “recess time” at 10 a.m. when I have an orange or apple or banana. I’ll have a package once in a great while in the late afternoon for a snack with a hot cup of tea. Only in the winter though. Darn it, now you are making me want some. LOL And I just went back to WW tonight!
I was just saying to my friend the other day how i used to LOVE those Carnation breakfast bars, the chocolate covered peanut butter ones. You just can’t find them anymore – huge bummer. I’m not big on most of the other ones, they’re just too sweet for me. I don’t really like granola bars that much. Now you have me hungry though – are you happy?!!! I guess it’s not a problem though because it’s time to find something for breakfast anyways 🙂
I was a fan the energy breakfast drinks, until I realized how many calories and carbs they actually had in them- It is amazing they can sell them as healthy drinks!
Same thing goes with those energy bars- so I usually just grab a can of tomatoe or pineapple juice.
We get fruit and nut bars and Wal Mart – also their brand of granola bars (favorite flavor is apple berry). They’re the same as the Quaker granola bars, but cheaper! I usually have one for a snack during the day. Shelby is on a Pop Tarts kick right now – Chocolate Sundae flavor. I’ll get them for her, but just for her.
I buy them for my kids, but I buy the healthy ones…Cascadian Farms or Country Choice. I don’t like chocolate, so every one in awhile I’ll buy myself a box of the Cascadian Farms vanilla chip granola bars. They’re okay, but they taste like a healthy bar. I do like the Country Choice oatmeal raisin bars, and my favorite ones are Odwalla Bars in peanut butter flavor. YUM! I pack ’em for my kids in their lunch boxes or for their morning snack at school.
I like Special K bars– they’re only 2 weight watchers points and they taste like Rice Krispy treats to me. I also like Quaker’s Chewy Oatmeal Raisin.
I do actually like Pop Tarts (brown sugar cinnamon), but they are 5 points per tart and that’s just too much for me.
We do pop tarts alot. We dont do Breakfast Bars no one has ever like them much. We get the big box at Sams of Pop tats..they are easy and fast. But normally I cook for the kids each morning. Eggs and bacon or Sausage…french toast sticks…waffles, cinnamon toast, cereal.
