Just Some Flurries

Well, for once, the weatherman got it right! Yesterday, they said we’d have some rain last night (Friday night), with a chance that the precipitation would turn to flurries this morning. So, when I woke up, I went and looked out the back door and sure enough, we were getting flurries! We got just a little bit of accumulation, on places like our patio table and the grill:

And on the top of Tim’s truck:

I tried to take some photos of it actually snowing, but most of them didn’t come out. I did like this one of a cardinal on our fence, because you can sort of see the snow flurries flying around:

You know, of course, that no blog post of mine is complete without a photo of Beau. After all, this was Beau’s first snow! At least that we know of. I know it has never snowed or even flurried in his lifetime here. We have no reason to think he lived out of state before we adopted him, so in all likelihood, this was his first snow. I know he was very intrigued by it. The first time we went out, he stayed out about 10 seconds, then ran back inside! He did get more adventurous later on and had to check things out:

My favorite picture from this morning is, oddly enough, not one that I took! Tim took some from the kitchen, as Beau and I sat at the back door, watching it snow. We stayed that way a long time, me and my Beau baby. He was very patient with me and stayed by my side for at least 20 minutes, just watching it snow and enjoying the peace and quiet and beauty of it:

It snowed off and on for an hour or two, but a couple hours later, it had pretty much all melted and turned to slush. It was pretty while it lasted though!

Yay! I’m go glad that y’all got some snow. It’s so fun to watch and it just seems to make everything pretty. I love the cardinal pic, but I must say: the picture of you and Beau is just priceless. I know that will be a memory you will cherish forever and it’s great that Tim caught it on camera. 🙂

  2. Dawn Said,

Wow! Snow! It was in the 80s here today.

  3. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,

I love that last photo. It’s so amazingly precious!!!

  4. Kim Said,

Your picture of the cardinal is absolutely beautiful. I am always amazed by the beautiful birds other parts of the country have as we have none of those beautiful blue and red type birds. We have robins which are mundane and boring–starlings, and crows which are downright ugly and boring. Occasionally we see a Blue Jay, but not very often and they are a mean bird, so I tend to not get too excited about them. Oh, yeah, forgot to mention, we have the oh so lovely Seagull too–yuck!
Thanks for sharing your pictures and I agree, watching it snow is so peaceful.I wish we would get some this winter. We got a ton last year, but this year, hardly any…my boys are sad.

  5. Lynne Said,

Teddy didn’t seem to know what to do with the snow when he first went out. Then Maggie started running around and sticking her nose down into the snow, and Teddy just followed along. They were running all over the yard for a while.

The TV news and weather was on ALL afternoon. But this turned into another SNOW JOB – hardly anything at all, nothing on the roads. Panic over nothing.

And on top of that – Barry Manilow concert was postponed!

Love the picture of you and Beau!

  6. Desert Songbird Said,

That is a really sweet photo of you and Beau baby. I’d blow that up and frame that one, if I were you. I’m sure Tim would love it, too.

  7. sherry Said,

I forget where you live — but I did hear today that they got 3 inches of snow in Atlanta and they closed the city down. *tee hee* That always cracks me up! *giggle snort* It is 9 degrees right now at about 10:30 and the windchill is about 15 below! Woot! We haven’t had any really cold weather since last winter!

I love, love, love the cardinal picture! They are one of my favorite birds!

  8. Suzanne Said,

Nice shots of the snow and the beautiful cardinal and of course, of Beau the great dog. Glad you enjoyed it while it lasted since it’s not often it does that.

  9. marianne Said,

Yay, you got that dusting! Love the photo of you and your Beau – so, so sweet. I agree with DS – you should frame it. The cardinal photo is wonderful – almost looks like its shaking off the snow – great shot!

  10. Fresh Girl Said,

Lucky you!! So many Southerners are getting snow, but not us! : ( I love that photo of the cardinal…it’s beautiful. And the one of you and Beau is so sweet. Yay for Tim taking it!

  11. mamichelle Said,

That is the CUTEST photo!!! I also love the cardinal one. Glad you got to experience the snow just a little bit. I didn’t realize you even got snow way down where you are! We were supposed to get a dusting yesterday but didn’t. I think over 50 inches is plenty for the year, thank you!

  12. Maria Said,

I love both the photo of the cardinal and of you and Beau. The last one really tells a story. Definitely one to be scrapbooked, if you are a scrapper.

  13. Cam Said,

    Yay, snow! 🙂
I was watching the weather last night, and it looked like y’all had gotten snow, so I sent you an excited email, but unfortunately the email got returned to me.
I love the cardinal picture! And the one of you & Beau is just so sweet.

  14. theresa Said,

Love the picture of you and Beau, what a good friend you have in him. Twenty minutes is very hard for a dog to stay in place for (unless they are resting/sleeping)

    Have a nice day

  15. Gail Said,

Nice shots! Love the cardinal one and Beau of course.
I guess it didn’t stick to the ground much, can’t see much ground in your pics but think I see green grass out your back door in the last one. I still feel gipped that we missed it! I told Deb A. it was snowing there, she was really mad but when I told her it wasn’t sticking she said maybe there was some justice after all! silly girl

  16. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

The pictures are great! I bet Beau was very curious! My kids would be. They have never had a good snow that they remember.

  17. jen Said,

I’m so glad you got snow. It’s nice to at least get a little in January isnt it? I love the picture of the Cardinal. We have several in our back yard that come to visit. And I really enjoyed the picture of you and Beau watching it snow….very cute.

  18. Claire Said,

I had NO faith that it would snow, but when I woke up I thought I’d just check….SNOW!!! I opened my blinds and watched it from my bed for a little while. It was SO pretty even if it didn’t stick.

  19. Sonya Said,

I LOVE the red bird pic! So cute! Looks like your puppy is just like mine! Always having to sniff the strange stuff! LOL!

  20. Dawn Said,

I thought of you guys Satruday and was wondering how much you got. Girl I was like a kid all day. I let Ruby out around 5:30 and it was already snowing and it snowed until around lunch time. I posted a few pics this morning of it but have to say my favorite pic you posted is of you and Beau…that is just to adorable 😉 Way to go Tim for taking that picture!!

  21. Jill Said,

We enjoyed our little smattering of snow, too. Stay warm!

  22. Susanne Said,

Love the pic of the two of you in the window! Too cute. It snowed here all day and night Saturday so Sunday found us having to dig ourselves out. And it’s ccccold today!

  23. Jenny A. Said,

I love that cardinal picture, too.
I came by to tag you for a meme if you want to do it. 🙂

  24. Sadie Said,

I agree with Desert Songbird- frame that pic of you and Beau. It’s perfect!

  25. Dianne Said,

Great pictures. that is just precious. i can’t imagine living where we hardly ever saw snow. mike has to shovel a path out back for macgyver when it does, otherwise – well he’s short and you know . . . ! he hates the cold but i think he actually doesn’t mind the snow.
