Today’s “Question of the Day” is short and sweet – do you text on your cellphone?
I think Tim and I are pretty up to date on most things electronic. We both love gadgets and are both fairly geeky, in a techie kind of way. However, the one area that we are woefully behind the times is that we don’t text on our phones. We use our phones to talk on, never texting. Occasionally, someone will text us, and we’ll call them back. I’m like, we don’t text, we have to pay per message and we just don’t use it. It doesn’t seem to stop people though, since it seems almost everyone we know does text.
So, how about you? Do you text on your phone? If so, do you text occasionally or are you an addict?!
With Patt and the guys he rides with texting has become non stop in our house. I use to not text and would tell people I didn’t text but that didn’t stop them so I went ahead and got a texting plan and text when needed. I do however would rather just pick up the phone and talk. It’s so much easier to me.
Stacy, I didn’t text until recently. When we changed plans, they made it easy with one low rate for texting for the whole family.
My ds laughed out loud the first time I sent him one!! He thought it was the coolest thing that his mom could text. I do like it for when I absolutely have to reach him when he’s in school or work.
My dh finally learned and constantly hounds our oldest ds. LOL
I don’t usually text as it costs money to do so. I could pay for a plan that includes texting, but it’s not that important to me. I do occasionally receive or send texts but I’d rather email or talk on the phone.
My cell plan comes with unlimited texting to anyone on the Verizon network & 1500 texts included for anyone “outside network.” I do text — and even better, almost everyone I know is on Verizon. I do text some. Usually if I am out & about for the day. I still primarily communicate by email though. Text comes in handy for quick questions or comments that don’t warrant an actual phone call.
I dont have any idea hoe to text message. I see people doing it all the time. I just dont have an interest in it. I would rather talk than mis spell the words……lol.
I don’t text regularly. I only have a few people I talk to anyway. Lol.
I have unlimited texting, you know, b/c I have an iPhone. 🙂 And on an iPhone, texting shows up like a chat, so I like it better than my old phone. But I only text occasionally. My husband and I used to text a lot, but now his cell phone is work-provided and so we don’t do that much.
I think my pay as I go plan has texting for only 10 cents a message. I occasionally will text a friend if I need to get them an urgent message (like my friend who is a teacher and cannot received calls but could look at her texts).
Otherwise, no, I really don’t text much.
I text and I love it. The younger crowd does that exclusively, talking to you rarely, you know!!
I text a lot! The kids text me and I reply… I text them at school and they reply (they can text with their phone in their pocket!) It makes me feel more connected to them. I also have email on my phone and use it regularly.
I don’t currently text but I am about to switch plans so I can…I am going to give it a try anyway!
I don’t have a clue how to do it! And I’m too damn old to learn. Shelby does it all the time.
Rarely. But I know how to do so. Most often, when I do text, it’s to my hubby with a quick “I love you” message.
I text on occasion. It’s helpful when all I have to do is send a short message and the person is not able to receive a call right then (e.g., my friend Greg while he’s teaching, my hubby when he’s on the shuttle coming home from the airport, etc.)
I just don’t do it often. My SIL likes to send us photo messages.
Oh, I text most of the times, hehe. It’s convenient when you have little to say and need a quick response.
I have no cellphone, so I don’t text anybody with it. 😉 I do, however, send e-mail-like text messages to my brother and SIL’s cell phones.
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve sent a text message. It takes me waayy to long to type out a message. Besides, it would be one more way for my kids to get in touch with me when I’m in the grocery store. It already drives me nuts when they call just to ask ‘where’s the (fill in the blank)’. I’m with Lynne — I’m too old for this.
You want to talk woefully behind…I don’t, and have never had, a cellphone!
I think texting is one of the most silly, money-wasting thing that people do these days!
So my answer is no, of course.
You two aren’t the only ones in the dark ages….Mark and I are too! We never text eirther. I have been recently getting random texts from other people, but I usually ignore them. I figure that if they want to talk to me, they can call one of my many phone numbers or email one of my many email addresses. 🙂
I wouldn’t know how to text to save my life.
Oh, we text! We have the family plan for texting. Hubby and I find it convenient to text little notes like “Can you please pick up some milk otw home?” etc, during the day. This way we don’t have to possibly interrupt eachother during our busy workdays. Also, the kids…all three of them…text like crazy. Thousands of texts in and out for each of them.
I am so not a texter. My hubby and I think we are pretyy up-to-date, too, but we haven’t caught on to that one.
Absolutely I text! But you knew that……maybe a slight addict here!
Good way for me to communicate with the kids sometimes, mostly David; a few of my friends text too. It’s great for short things sometimes.
Same here! I never text. Don’t even have it as an option. Sometimes people text us but we have to call back. I just can’t see the point of texting. It takes more time to text than call. I’m not a big phone person anyway. I make it short and sweet!
