QOTD – Daily Devotional

Devotional I’m still easing into the New Year, how about you? I haven’t done a lot of the things I want to do, to start the new year off right. I hope to get back to a *much* healthier eating routine, and hopefully back into some exercise soon. I am behind on getting the house clean, so once I get a handle on that, I need to start on my new year things. Little things like a new calendar, new files for the new year, cleaning out last year’s files and clutter, etc. Backing up files and photos from the computer. Also on that list is a new devotional.

I bought and used a Guideposts daily devotional last year and I liked it. I have a copy of “My Utmost for his Highest” by Oswald Chambers that I am thinking I might use this year for my daily devotional. I need to get to the bookstore soon and see if I can find one I like better, or one geared more toward women or something. I’m really not quite sure what I want to use this year. So, I thought I’d throw this question out and see what you guys had to say.

So today’s “Question of the Day” is about a daily devotional – do you have one that you use? What brand or company or person authored it? Do you have a new one for this year, or a favorite from years past? Do you have an online devotional that you use or a site that you reference? Do you get a Scripture or thought every day by email? Do you have something else you do or would recommend? Leave me a comment and let me know. 🙂

Happy 2008!

    No, I don’t have one. Sorry I can’t help!

  2. Heidi Said,

I wish I could say I do have a devotional, but I don’t. I rely on Bible Studies to get me pressured into doing them!!

I did have an Oswald Chambers for couples long ago, but I didn’t like it because it was too much geared toward parenting, so definitely don’t get that. I know a lot of people like to do the Bible in One year and they have books for that.

    Just a suggestion!!

  3. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

I plan to start a Precept Upon Precept course soon. It is supposed to require 5 hours/week of study time, so I am going to have to get my act together! I hope it will come in the mail in the next couple of days.

  4. jen Said,

I have Guideposts and Journey Magazines from church…..I did not buy a new Guidepost this though…I’m going to re read last years…esp since I didnt finish it. And I will follow though with the Journey posts too. I’m also signed up for a parenting class at church for a bible study….6 week course.
Great question and great minds do think alike.

  5. Cam Said,

I love Journey, the devotional magazine the SBC puts out. Unfortunately, our church is limited on funds and had to stop buying them, so I miss them now. But I enjoyed that when I was able to get it. I’d love to find a modern, non-stuffy devotional book for women/moms.

I’m also signed up on votd.org (verse of the day via email).

  6. Dawn P. Said,

No I don’t but I want one. I know our church has one they put out and I am thinking about starting to read it.

  7. Susanne Said,

I am going to start making sure I stop at Faith Lifts in the morning and CWO’s Internet Cafe in the evening. The devotionals are not too long and written by women and I’ve been finding they are just what I need to hear at the time. I’m also going to try to go through “The Quest for Character” by Charles Swindoll. It’s an older one, but a good one.

  8. Gail Said,

I’ve used Journey, get them at church b/c they buy them and put them out each month for people to pick up. I still think Utmost is one of the all time best out there, can’t go wrong with it.

I need a calendar! And I think we usually go buy them together, so I must need to come down!

  9. annie Said,

I have a few books that have short devos in that I keep in places so I can read them between other things. I have done Beth Moore devos daily and loved it!

  10. Annie Said,

Oh my gosh, you’re back…I’m sooooo excited!

  11. Kim Said,

Hooray! You are back and boy have I missed you and your sister. Welcome back to blogville.

  12. Write From Karen Said,
