QOTD – New Years

Happy New Year

I don’t have anything monumental to report on this New Years Day. Another new year (or as I like to say, “another day in paradise”!) It seems they are flying by at record speed!

2007 was a good year for us, and we’re looking forward to an equally wonderful 2008. We are very blessed and so very grateful for everything we have. Tim and I have each other, we’re healthy and happy, and we have Beau to keep us entertained. Tim has his golf and I have my books to keep us occupied, and we enjoy doing most everything else together. What more could you ask for? 🙂

I thought I’d start off the year with a quick and easy “Question of the Day:” Did you stay up last night to ring in the new year? Did you immediately go to bed after the stroke of midnight, or are you just a party animal?!

For us, we stayed up. Chris and Elizabeth came over to hang out and work on our annual New Years jigsaw puzzle with us (picture soon, when we finish!) We made it till midnight, and we even sat up later playing Text Twist on the computer (new high score for us, yeah!). As you can tell, we’re not big on partying or celebrating. 🙂

So, leave me a comment and let me know – did you stay up or not?!

Happy New Year to you!

  1. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,

We went to a friend’s house until 10:30, then came home and rang in the New Year with a family hug with Vader!! I feel asleep about 12:30. Party Animal that I am.

  2. Diana Said,

We went to an early dinner with some friends and then to their house for dessert. Chatted it up til about 10:00 and left. I was in bed before midnight! Happy New Year to you!

  3. Desert Songbird Said,

The kids stayed up this year, and I sent them off to bed at 12:02 a.m. I put myself to bed at 12:10 a.m. Earlier in the evening, we went to Chili’s for an early dinner, then came home and watched Evan Almighty. Big partiers, huh?

  4. Susanne Said,

I stayed up until 2 a.m. and boy do I regret it this morning. I feel so out of it. We played a few rounds of Deal or No Deal, ate ourselves silly, again, and watched the very exciting and profound movie “Shrek 3” . ;v) Yup we are such party people, too!

  5. Maria Said,

Yes, I did. I was at my sister-in-law’s home for our annual NYE gathering. My husband was working doing a photo shoot of someone’s NYE extravaganza. All three of my sons went home with various aunts to spend the night at their homes with cousins. I drove home alone on NYE. I haven’t been alone on NYE since I can remember! It was a very weird feeling. My hubby was home when I got home though. Very strange not to ring in the new year with him by my side!

  6. annie Said,

Yep, on accident… we were watching tivo’d australian biggest loser and Matt said, “it’s 2008.” I looked up and it was 12:10 a.m. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t notice!
    Happy New Year!

  7. Karen Said,

I stayed up with the kids and our new puppy to watch the ball drop. Then we all headed off to bed. Wishing you a very Happy New Year! I’m so glad our paths (and blogs) have crossed!

  8. jen Said,

We were supposed to go to dinner with friends..but canceled due to Miller feeling ill. He seems better today. We watched Will Smith’s movie Pursuit of Happyness….great flick by the way….and ate the Pioneer Womans Rotel Dip and watched the ball drop. We all got in bed at midnight and were out by 5 after…lol. I didnt even have a glass of champagne….oh well….there is always 2009.

  9. mamichelle Said,

Yep, we were the party aminals, I mean animals! I have a headache today. We went to the neighbors’ and had martinis and margaritas and then champagne. Ugh….

So we watched the ball drop on the big screen tv (we seriously need one), then after a bunch of toasts and ching, chings to each other, we went home. DH was tired but I could have stayed a while. I’m glad we went home though.

    Happy New Year!

  10. Heidi Said,

We stayed up and then went to bed shortly after. We just watched the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, watched a little of the silly New Years’ coverage on TV, and that was that. I was in the mood for low key this year….

  11. Cam Said,

I was blissfully sleeping at midnight! I had a couple of hours to myself after the boys were in bed, and I turned in at 11pm. Didn’t get up till 8am when D woke up (he slept through last night! YAY!). So for me, it was like any other night, since staying up late isn’t something I’ll get to do again for a while yet. Probably won’t stay up late next year, either.

    Happy New Year!
It sounds like you had a wonderful time, in my book. That would be my ideal NYE party.

  12. booklogged Said,

Hubby and I watched the last 6 episodes of Season One or Prison Break. Then we watched a few minutes of Dick Clark in Time Square. Then we read a bit and went to bed. It was a very pleasant and quiet evening. Just what we needed after days and days of getting together with our extended family for games and eating.

  13. violetlady Said,

I always stay up. Tonight I went to bed right after the ball dropped. Husband was asleep long before.

  14. Gail Said,

We went down to J and S’s for supper and games! 4 couples in all. Watched the ball drop, eastern time! Came home a few minutes before midnight here and I stayed up til 1 reading in bed. Party people we aren’t here!

They got me back hooked on text twist again, those silly children!

  15. theresa Said,

Hi- Happy New Year, we usually spend it having pizza and playing games with another couple, but this year my parents are visiting me. So we did the east coast celebration(9pm CA time) then went to bed to get up for the New Years Parade.

I used to play text twist quite alot, I go in spurts with different games.

  16. Dawn Said,

I watched a movie, dozed off & woke up just in time to see Dick Clark count down the last twenty seconds of 2007. Happy 2008, Stacy!

  17. Kathy m Said,

Happy New Year! We had 2 families over last night for pizza/potluck. I was pooped and in bed by midnight. Hey, how did your photo 365 project end up? Are you continuing it in the new year?

  18. Jill Said,

New Year’s Eve also happens to be our anniversary (4th anniversary this year). We did stay up until after midnight, but not by much. Happy New Year

  19. Fresh Girl Said,

I DID stay up late! Until about one a.m. I guess, but I wasn’t doing anything different from what I’m usually doing late at night… surfin’ the web or reading a book. 😉 Oh, and hoping the idiots shooting off fireworks or guns in my neighborhood weren’t going to wake the baby!

  20. Dawn P. Said,

We drove in from Gatlinburg that day so we stayed in that night and both of us was asleep before midnight. Then we hung out at the house New Years Day and just relax. To me one of the best New Years 🙂
