Not Sure I Remember How…

I have now officially taken the longest break – ever- on my blog. I am wanting to get back into blogging, but I’m not sure I remember how! 🙂

I hope everyone has had a great holiday season. Tim and I have had a really good Christmas. We got to see all of our family, on both sides, over the course of several days. We got to spend our first ever Christmas morning in our own home, opening presents. In all years past, we’ve always gotten up and traveled on Christmas day and we had to open our own presents to each other on another day. So, that was very nice and very “Christmas-y” to me! Tim got me a new telephoto lens for my Canon Digital Rebel. I can’t wait to play with it more! I got Tim a lot of little stuff – some gadgets and toys, some golf stuff, some clothes, a movie, and things like that. A nice Christmas all around.

I’m looking forward to getting the rest of my Christmas decorations down, and trying to get back to normal. I always love Christmas, but after it’s all over, I’m usually yearning to get back into a routine. I thrive on routine, you know  I also need to take some time to get my blog “back to normal” and get back to my red look. 🙂

I’m struggling with what to cook this week, but hope to be back tomorrow or later with a menu of sorts for the week. I also *still* have some book chatter to talk about. I think I’ve also just about decided to join a reading challenge. This is something I did a year or so ago, then decided that challenges really don’t fit my reading style. But I do like them, they’re fun and I like to participate, so I’m going to give another one a try 🙂

Oh, and I hope to get a little more “down time” in over the next couple of days. We have some movies we want to watch, lots of football, then I’m going to do my best to persuade Tim to join me in a ritual I’ve loved doing for years. I love to work jigsaw puzzles this time of year, between Christmas and New Years. Here’s a link to the photo of the one we did last year, which also happened to be my very first photo post for my nearly completed Project365 photo blog project. 🙂 I’m looking forward to wrapping up that project as well, and that feeling of accomplishment for completing something that was quite difficult at times. But, I persevered 😀

Happy New Year!

  1. Kim Said,

Hi Stace! It is good to hear from you again. It sounds like you had a lovely Christmas week. I am with you though–there comes a point when all is over that I can’t wait to get the decorations down and get back to normal. Parts of my house have been decorated for 3 months if you count all my fall stuff I put out!
What movies are you going to watch? I think on New Years Day we are going to have a Lord of the Rings marathon! We haven’t seen those in a couple of years–and today we are going out to see National Treasure with our boys. Last night Kerry took me on a date for dinner and a movie–my pick of movies which ended up being Enchanted! He was a trooper seeing that with me. 🙂

I think you should totally do a book challenge! I ended up joining a few–there is some overlap of books in all of mine so I think it is do-able. I just have so many books laying around here that I needed some inspiration to read some of the ones that have been around the longest! The ones I joined are pretty flexible–I could plug in the types of books I want to read. Check out my sidebar if you haven’t found any yet to join–and if you have been thinking about a certain one, please share!! 🙂
Goodness–I should have just emailed you–this comment got mighty long!
    *smiles*
    Kim

  2. jen Said,

I love that picture for the puzzle. I wish we could do something like that but little Miller would destroy it in no time. I’m glad you and Tim had a nice Christmas…sounds wonderful..we always run all day Christmas and it is hard…one day maybe…right?
I have my menu ready for the week….and all the Christmas stuff is down….hooray!

  3. Lynne Said,

Welcome back Stacy! Which reading challenge are you doing? I’ve joined a couple (HA! Probably about 8 or more!). I’m so anal – I love to have my reading for the year all planned out in advance, with room for some extra books thrown in.

I was just saying to Dom last night that I wanted to keep our Christmas tree up all year. But, alas, I’ll take it all down on Tuesday. Since I don’t put the tree and stuff up until almost Christmas Eve, I don’t really get tired of it.

Sounds like you and Tim had a nice Christmas!

  4. Debi Said,

Oh, it does sound like you had a wonderful week! So happy to hear that! But I also know what you mean about getting back to the old routine. I’m more than ready, but of course that requires a tremendous amount of work first. Ugh.

So what reading challenge are you going to join? I’m so excited to find out! Annie’s would be a super easy one…subtle hint. Haha.

Wishing you and Tim and Beau the most wonderful 2008 imaginable!

  5. Cam Said,

So good to hear from you! I’m glad you had a great Christmas, and I know you’ll have a good new year’s, too…it sounds so fun–downtime! I wish I had some of that! Enjoy that puzzle; wish I could do that, too.

  6. annie Said,

Good to hear from you! The holidays are just such a busy time!

  7. Fresh Girl Said,

It’ll be good to have you back posting more often after the holidays are over! I LOVE that puzzle you and Tim did last year…hope we get to see this years. I used to love to do puzzles, but that was in my pre-cat days. 😉 I’m not sure I’m brave enough to attempt one with Pumpkin around!

  8. Karlene Said,

Hi. Saw your comment over on Kim’s blog. Wanted to give you a personal invite to join the Winter Reading Challenge. It’s an easy challenge. One book minimum. Cross-over books for other challenges count.

Love your blog design. It’s very clean and pretty.

  9. Heidi Said,

I’m glad you had a good Christmas and I’m sure you are having fun with your new lens!

  10. Suzanne Said,

nice post, you really did remember how!! Glad you had a great holiday with the fam.
I am missing that jig saw puzzle thing too but I had other stuff to do…enjoy those football games. Sorry the Bears “bore down”………….HA

  11. mamichelle Said,

Glad you had a nice Christmas! We did too (after the scare).

You can do it (normal blog mode). You always come up with the best questions!

p.s. I finished another book and was hoping to get one more done but it’s doubtful. I’m reading Almost Moon by Alice Sebold.

  12. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,

I’m so happy that you had a wonderful Christmas. We had a small one and made a lot of decisions regarding next year (like we will put up a tree…we will put our photo on the Christmas cards…you know, enjoy the season!) I got one gift from Jeff, but boy he “rocked” my world (it’s a new diamond for my ring).

I hope to get back in the blogging routine too!

  13. Desert Songbird Said,

I was just thinking this morning how nice it has been to be lazy and not worry about when I have to wake up or where I have to be for the day. That said, it also made me sad that for five months, I live at a break neck pace and then try to spend two weeks making up for it. *sigh*

I really do need to take more time during the school year to pace myself. I’m not a routine person, but I’m going to have to force myself to have a regular bedtime so that I’m not exhausted during the day.

Glad you had a nice Christmas. Have fun with the new camera lens!

  14. Dawn Said,

I’ve been blogging a little randomly, but I’ve been *so* bad about getting around to everyone else’s blogs since being away for Christmas. Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas! Hooray!
