This week’s topic: Preservatives
Today’s question comes from Conspiracy-Girl:
I’m still relatively new to this meme so I’m not sure if this has been asked yet, but I’m curious how many of us write notes in our books. Are you a Footprint Leaver or a Preservationist?
Well, another really easy question for me. I don’t write in my books at all. I *might* neatly print my name in the front, if it was a book I thought I might loan to someone and I wanted to make sure I got it back. I never underline in my books, make notes in the margins, or even turn down the corners. I think it’s something that was ingrained in me growing up. I never mar my books in any way. 🙂 So, yes, I’m a total Preservationist!
If it’s a nonfiction book I might write or underline in it, so it can help me later or to remember something from it. Don does that ALL the time but he reads much more nonfiction books than me, in fact, that’s really all he reads! I don’t usually write in the fiction ones at all unless it’s my name. Sometimes there’ll be a good line or paragraph I want to remember from a fiction book but then I’m likely to xerox that page so I can underline the passage I want to remember, weird huh!
I usually do not mark in my books, but occasionally I will. I become less and less strict about it the older I get. If it is a book I intend to give away, trade or even one that isn’t mine, writing in the book is an absolute no no for me.
I write in my Bible, and I also wrote in a parenting book that I planned to keep and reread over and over. Other than that, I don’t write in books!
I’m with you, Stace! I’d never write more than my name in a book.
I think I’m more lenient when it comes to school textbooks, but definitely not on novels! Like you, I’ll print my name on the book if I want to lend it to someone because I’d want to have it back, LOL!
Oh, I have a breakdown at written in books! LOL! I usually write out name inside the front cover but that’s only if we will keep them forever.
