I was going to post a “Question of the Day“, but thought I’d better post a “Happy Halloween” post instead. Or we could combine them! Yeah, that’s the ticket, let’s do that 😀
Hope everyone has a great Halloween, if you partake of this holiday in your house. Since we don’t have kids, we don’t really go out very much for Halloween. I put fall decorations out front a couple of weeks ago (mums, hay bale, scarecrow and pumpkin, NOT carved!) and a plastic lighted pumpkin and lighted ghost that I’ve had for years (and are quite faded, thank you!). We have a big bowl of candy to give out to the trick-or-treaters that we will get. We don’t get as many in our neighborhood as we have in the past. More and more kids in our neighborhood are getting to be teenagers and don’t go trick or treating. I’ll post a photo over at my Project365 blog of the before and after of the candy bowl, later today and tomorrow. 🙂
In years past, we have dressed up a little on Halloween, but it has been a while. I’m wearing an orange Halloween t-shirt and jeans today, and that will be the extent of it 🙂 Tim won’t wear anything remotely orange though 🙂 I went and got my hair cut this morning and the owner and stylists were all dressed up in full costumes! They were a hoot, and I wish I had taken my camera 🙂
How about you? Are you wearing anything today that is remotely Halloween-themed? Will you go to a Halloween function tonight, or take your kids trick or treating? Will you stay home and give out candy? Will you turn off the lights and pretend that today is not Halloween? Or do you just not recognize this day at all? Leave me a comment and let me know!
I’ve done some of all of it in the past! Have been to fall costume parties, let the kids trick or treat sporadically, done functions at the church (which I preferred), stayed home to do the candy thing and once in a while turn out the lights so it looks like we’re not home. Tonight we have a going away thing at church for pastor and secretary so I’ll be there for a while….bought a small amount of candy but with the TRUCKLOADS of kids we get, it’ll last about 15 minutes if I’m here long enough to answer the door.
I’m staying home, watching tv & handing out candy if I get anyone. I haven’t lived in this apartment for Halloween before — moved in closer to Christmas — so I have no clue if there will be kids or not!
I don’t dress up, but the Certain Little Boy will and we get TONS of trick or treaters. I will probably post about it tomorrow. I didn’t decorate at all this year.
Hey Stacy!
Happy Halloween to you! I have the day off. Yay!
Once in a while I wear a witch’s hat with green hair (last year). This year I think I’ll just stick with my black shirt and jeans. I didn’t even buy a pumpkin this year. Our neighbors will be disappointed, I”m sure. We usually carve about 10-12 pumpkins. OH well…..
Have fun!
I guess I’m like Gail. I’ve done it all at one time or another. Tonight though the lights will be out, but the TV will be on for bit and then I’ll go and read in bed. Ever since we moved here we’ve only gotten an average of 5-10 kids and they are usually in groups of 3 so it’s not a big deal here in our neighborhood.
I remember the first Halloween here we had the decorations, spooky music playing on the stereo with the speakers in front of the windows facing out, dressed up in costumes, the whole 9-yards. We got a total of 12 kids. Last year I got 2 kids and they were together. 😉
We will be taking the kids trick-or-treating. However, we have our regular church services tonight, so we won’t be out as long as usual. It will be fun!
I’m going to visit Goober and his parents tonight, and I’m going in costume, even though Goober will be the only other person wearing one. *g* I’m going as a black kitty, and I look pretty cute, if I do say so myself! Won’t be anybody at our house to give out candy, so I guess that means we’ll have to eat what we bought to give out before we were invited to Goober’s house. Aww, shucks. 😉
And besides Halloween, Happy Reformation Day! 😀
I posted about this on my blog the other day…titled it “Boo-Humbug” ’cause I don’t like Halloween. I celebrate by turning off my lights and going to my favorite Mexican restaurant with my family. My treat is a plate of tacos and a margarita. But, I do like pumpkins! That’s kinda Haloween-ish, isn’t it? :o)
Happy Halloween to you, too! We do the whole nine yards — costumes for the kids, pumpkin carving (Hubs takes care of that), candy for the ghosts and goblins, and usually decorating the front yard. Shamefully, I just didn’t get to that this year. I did put up my inside decorations though. Last night my daughter and her friend made caramel apples and we ate them while we watched Dancing With the Stars.
Happy Halloween!
We’re going to trunk or treat at church. We’re giving out bags of candy… all my favorites 🙂 I was going to wear a pig nose and wrap a blanket around me to be a pig in a blanket, but I didn’t get the nose… so I’ll just be ME!
I’m not really a Halloween person, but the kids like it. On my cul-de-sac, there used to be several of us who would sit outside, party, and hand out candy to the kids, but most of the fun neighbors moved away, and there aren’t that many kids that like to come down the street anymore.
So, I’m driving over to the other side of the neighborhood and sitting with my friend Laura while her hubby takes mine and hers out. She and I will man the house, handing out candy from her and from me.
I don’t dress up. About the only thing I’ll do is wear a pair of devil’s horns…maybe.
i am wearing a halloween shirt and both the kids have halloween shirts on right now. my hubby will dress up (as larry the cable guy) and take our daughter (age 3) trick or treating she will be a chicken… i will be home to pass candy out and take care of our 3 week old son who will (if he allows the costume) be dressed as a elephant. after trick or treating we will head to the grandparents to show off costumes.
I still have on my cat make up, but my ears, paws, colar, and tail are gone.
The kids at school make the most fabulous pumpkin carvings, and some do not bring them home so I brought two home to light for our trick or treaters.
We don’t get many kids, but I always buy extra just in case we get a car load- I only let my hubby buy candy I don’t like (very limited selection) so I don’t eat it before the treaters get here.
The prro trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood don’t get a thing from us as we are always out ourselves! Bryn’s school had a great Halloween trunk-or-treat complete with bounce houses and slides and games so we got to do all of our Halloween activities in one place.
In oast years I have reused my Charlie Brown costume from our production of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown back in ’95.
This year Amy really wanted me to dress up so I ordered a Ghostbusters costume and wore it to work, home for trick or treating (hosting at the house) and to trivia. It was very popular at Winston’s, but not enough to win the contest (a lady in a mardi-gras oversized head won).
I’ll have a few pics up at my blog (www.valtool.blogspot.com) in a few minutes.
no kids here, but the house is still adorned in Halloween lites! Stinking kids took all the candy but my 3 musketeers
Happy Halloween! Did you get lots of trick or treaters last night?
I had no energy to dress G up this year, so this was the first year we didn’t. We took him out for a whirlwind trip around the neighborhood; about an hour of trick-or-treating…it was all I could squeeze in because D wants to nurse every hour in the evenings. G wore his halloween t-shirt and a cool hat, and if anyone asked what he was dressed up as, he said, “I’m a big brother!”. LOL Hopefully people understood that with a new baby, it was just too much to go all out this year, but at the same time, I didn’t want him to miss out on ToTing since he loves it so much.
Living in the country we don’t get many trick or treaters. Usually just our nephews and a few kids from church but last night they did the truck or treat at our church so we had no kids…so Patt gets the candy bowl all to himself. Me I was asleep by 7:30 so I really enjoyed it 🙂
