QOTD – Pajama Day

TV / Pajama DayWell, what’s a girl to do when there’s no new questions posted over at Friday’s Feast? After all, I’ve been playing along over there for a couple of years now. So, I thought I’d babble a little about what’s going on with me, and incorporate that into a “Question of the Day”.

I’ve had a sore throat for the last couple of days. Some congestion and coughing, but nothing too serious. Not serious enough to go to the doctor for drugs. Just serious enough to bug me and for Tim and Beau to get tired of me being sickly and whiny. Yes, I’m whiny when I don’t feel well. 🙂 Anyway, I have been keeping up with most of the work around here, laundry, cleaning, some cooking and running errands. I think I’m going to take today and veg though. I did some yesterday. I sat down and watched some cooking shows I had on the DVR. I still have ALL of the Jane Austen movies from PBS on the DVR and I haven’t watched a single one. So, I’m hoping today to curl up on the couch and watch one. That’s not normal for me, though.

So, how about a “Question of the Day“, along these lines. Do you or your family ever plan or end up spending the day in your pajamas? This could be whether you’re sick, just needing a mental health day to yourself, or you plan a day to stay home and do family things together, in your PJ’s.

Oh, and just to clarify – I won’t be in my PJ’s. That seems to be something I cannot do. I will have to get a bath and get dressed. I also make the bed, every single day, 365 days a year. I won’t curl up in bed, or stay in my PJ’s all day, but I do hope to veg some on the couch later. 🙂

So – how about you? Do you ever take a day to just chill out and catch up on movies, books, reading, etc. Do you let everything else go? Do you only do this if you’re really sick or your kids are sick? Leave me a comment and let me know!

  1. Gail Said,

Ummm, I do that ALL the time! Too many times, like when I should be cleaning or laundry or something! I can stay in pj’s without too much problem, especially if I’ve gotten busy sewing but most times I’ll at least put on one of these pairs of walking pants and a top. You should take days like this more often!

  2. Jenny A. Said,

Often on Saturdays I’ll end up wearing the pjs until noon! 😉 If there’s nowhere to go, I don’t make myself ready—and I know that’s not always a great way to be! Sometimes I’ll do the chores in pjs around the house and shower after I’m done with the dirty work. Seems like it saves on laundry that way.

Now I rarely sit and watch a movie and veg out—in or out of pjs. I feel guilty if I am not doing something else at the same time.

And about Juno—-it has a very sweet ending, very sweet! Tears in the eyes sweet. But not everything is tied up in a neat package. It’s complicated, like life is. And by the way, one of my gal friends was wearing her pjs to the movies last night! 😉

  3. Judi Said,

I do! Probably too often! Just the other day we all stayed in PJs all day. It was great! Hope you get to feeling better.

  4. Sadie Said,

That doesn’t happen much with me, though I used to lay around until later in the day. Now I take a shower first thing out of bed and make the bed right after my shower.

I have been known, however, when I’m sick, to put on clean flannel pajamas AFTER the shower and bed-making, to curl up on the couch and be pitiful for the rest of the day. Flannel pjs are my very favorite comfy clothes.

  5. Heidi Said,

I try never to be in my pj’s for long in the morning, but sometimes, especially if I’m cleaning, I might. But I am apt to put them on early in the evening if I’m tired!

  6. Laura Said,

Ugh, I can’t stand staying in my PJs all day! I get dressed asap, even if getting dressed means sweats and a t-shirt. 🙂

  7. mamichelle Said,

Oh, I’m so sorry you’re not feeling great! You should take the day to veg. That’s what you need to feel better!

I very rarely take a day to veg. I only do that if I don’t feel well, and that’s very rare. I just think of too many things that need to be done.

I usually clean in my pjs though. Sometimes I get caught when someone comes to the door and it’s 1:00. They don’t know that I’m just about to get in the shower after cleaning though.

Today is a day I could have vegged with this headache. Oh well..

    Hope you feel better!

  8. heather Said,

so i am typing this at 3:20 pm sitting in pjs…so my answer is yes. as a mother of a 3 year old and a 4 month old and the fact that i work nights while everyone is sleeping i do have a lot of pj days!

  9. Cam Said,

Lounging all day and reading/watching TV are a thing of the past here. Hard to do with an infant in the house. Although we do spend many days in our pjs, that’s more of a “mama didn’t have time to get dressed, much less dress the kids” thing than a deliberate thing. LOL…
Once the baby is a year or so old, I will get more of a chance to do things like that again. I’m looking forward to it! But for now I’m on duty all day long. *sigh*

  10. theresa Said,

Personally I would love a day like that- I never plan them, but maybe once or twice in my lifetime, when I was sick, I stayed in my PJ’s all day long. My husband would not go for a day like that at all, which makes it hard on me having one of those days, since I would feel guilty staying in PJ all day, which would ruin the fun of it.

  11. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,

Christmas Day. I get up, get ready (hair & makeup) then it’s back in the PJs. We spend the day cuddling on the sofa and what better way to watch movies than in my PJs.

  12. Karen Said,

Unless I’m sick — really sick — I don’t stay in my pj’s all day long. But I love to get into them early in the evening. Sometimes right after supper. Heck, sometimes BEFORE supper, especially if it’s been a long day and I’ve been dressed up all day, which rarely happens since I work from home. BTW, I never work in pj-s — sweats maybe, but I need to be dressed to feel like I’m working.

  13. annie Said,

I love wearing flannel pjs and a hoodie all day! I only change if I need to run an errand. The kids do it all the time!

  14. Lynne Said,

I’d stay in my jammies all day if I could! When I was a kid, on weekends my mother would tell me to get dressed. My answer – Why? I’m just going to have to put my jammies on again tonight?

    It’s meme time – you’ve been tagged!

  15. Debi Said,

Oh, how I’d love to veg out for a day! PJs or not, who cares. Maybe when the youngest hits his teen years that will be an option.

  16. jen Said,

We get out of our jammies only because we take Madison to school every morning….otherwise I would stay in them all day esp if I didnt go anywhere….Madison would stay in hers for days if we didnt tell her to change and bathe….lol…hope you feel better soon.

  17. Kara Reed Said,

I love jammie days…when I know we have nothing to do all day, we almost always have a jammie day.

  18. Susanne Said,

My two girls can spend the day in their jammies easily! I last until about 10:30 and then my mother’s European teachings start clammoring in the back of my mind and I have to go put clothes on. ;vP

  19. Eden Said,

We definitely stay in our pjs, way to often. We don’t plan it, but it just happens.

  20. Dawn Said,

I love pj days. Had one Saturday while Patt was out riding but that afternoon I did go take my shower (finally) and then put on clean pair of pj’s to finish the day off in.
