Poll: What Would You Do?

I was going through an old magazine the other day (still a work in progress, this “going through and throwing out my huge mountain of magazines” project), and I ran across a quick poll they posted. I thought it was a good question, so I thought I’d ask here.

What would you do?

If you found a $100 bill on the sidewalk, what would you do?

1. Put it in my wallet (hello, new shoes!)
2. Pass it by. Gross. Germs!
3. Give the money to charity
4. Add it to my savings

Cast your vote now 🙂

  1. Southern Girl Said,

Well, I ain’t gonna lie… I could do with $100 right now, so I’d definitely pick that sucker up. (I’m my mother’s daughter and there’s not too much she won’t pick up off the ground. *g*) And I’d love to say I’d do number 3, but in all honesty, I probably wouldn’t, which is not to say I don’t give to charity, ’cause I do, but I suspect I’d be so caught up in the whole “OOo, money on the ground! Gimme!” mentality, I’d be far more likely to do either #1 or #4. Except if I did #1, I definitely wouldn’t spend it on shoes…borrrrring. 😀

  2. Bev Said,

Okay, I’ll be honest. I’d pick it up. Then because it’s ‘found money’ I’d spend it on something totally frivolous. Probably take the Kid out for a surf n’ turf dinner. 😉

  3. Heidi Said,

I’d probably pick it up so long as it didn’t appear that I could find an obvious owner.

  4. Carrie Said,

Honestly, #1, but not for shoes. Knowing me, I’d use it on groceries or something.

  5. Amy Said,

You know me I always have a story, but one day there was $40 whirling around and I bent down and picked it up. I stood there for quite awhile waiting to see if anyone would come look for it. My kids and I waited a long time…like 20 minutes or so. We discussed what we should do and we knew if we started asking did you lose this money that people would say yes. We decied to keep it because I need to take our bulldog to the vet. We didn’t have any extra money to take her, but she was not well. Guess how much our vet bill was…..yep, $40 even!

  6. Lynne Said,

Honestly, I’d pick it up and keep it. Now, if I found a wallet with money in it, I’d return the wallet and all of the money to the owner. But I’d put that $100 into my wallet and just hold on to it for something special.

  7. Karen Said,

I’d absolutely pick it up, and I’d probably spend it on something fun for me and hubby or for the family. My daughter would say, it’s from Grandma. We know that pennies on the ground are from heaven, so whenever she finds a penny she’ll say, “Gram’s thinking of us!” One day she found a quarter and she said, “Wow! Gram’s really thinking of us.” I can’t imagine what she’d think about $100! lol

  8. Jill Said,

I would also pick it up, but wouldn’t necessarily spend it on shoes. Then again…I might.

  9. deb Said,

I’d pick it up, too. Vet bills 🙁

  10. Sonya Said,

Um, pick it up, go have lunch, and then go to the bookstore for a few new books :-o) Mama didn’t raise no fool! LOL!

  11. theresa Said,

When I was a kid I found 5 dollars on the ground when getting into the car- I picked it up and showed my mother. She said it was mine to do with it what I wanted. My older sister and a cousin who were also there were so jealous. I asked my mom if we could go to the ice cream stand so I could buy ice cream for everyone- she of course said yes and we headed to the ice cream stand.

So yes I would pick it up- if I was with friends I would treat everyone to lunch. If alone, I put it in my wallet and come Sunday whatever was left I would put it in the church basket.

  12. twiga92 Said,

Look around to see if anyone nearby might have dropped it, then pick it up and keep it. 🙂 And use it for important things like books, scrapbook supplies and coffee! 🙂

  13. gail Said,

If I couldn’t find someone nearby that it belonged to or was looking for it, pick it up and keep it I suppose! I did that one time when you were with me in Walmart! Only it wasn’t that much, it was a 5 or 10 instead of 100!

  14. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,

If I didn’t see who dropped it…it’s all mine. Then off to the mall I would go…or bookstore…Maybe I’d hit the bookstore with it.

  15. Suzanne Said,

Pick it up. Look around to see if anybody was looking for it, then use it for something worthy, buying gas for the cars since it costs so much now.

  16. Kara Reed Said,

Gotta pick it up! Would probably be racked with guilt that someone had lost a hundred bucks and that I had picked it up, but I would get over it sooner or later!

  17. Trish Said,

I’d pick it up and blow it on something fun!

  18. Presentstorm Said,

I would have to say pick it up and keep it too. I would look around and see if it was obviously dropped by a nearby person but if I saw nothing I would keep it.

  19. Simply Dawn Said,

I’d pick it up…look to see if it belonged to someone around me…if not then I’d thank God for the blessing 🙂

  20. Cam Said,

As long as there was no way to get it back to its rightful owner, I’d pick it up (and wash my hands later LOL) and use it to buy stuff we still need for the baby! 😀

  21. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

I would pick it up! I would see if I could find the owner, but if not, I would keep it.

  22. Mandalyn Said,

If I couldn’t find the owner—-finder’s keepers!! Hello new shoes!:)

  23. Dianne Said,

Pick it up. LIke the others said, if no obvious owner was in sight, I’d probably pocket it. I might (have done in the past) give it away though, if the spirit moved and I listened. I wouldn’t feel obligated to though.

  24. CoachJ Said,

Pick it up! If I couldn’t find an obvious owner, I’d spend it on moi! 🙂 One day at the beach, dh was digging in the sand, and found a $10 bill. No one was around. It was his to keep. Nice!

  25. Shawna Said,

If there was no owner for me to give it to, I think I might give it to charity or save it for my baby girl.
