A Good Day

Seize the DayToday has been a good day 🙂

We got up and went walking this morning with Beau. We have been walking 5-6 times a week for the last week or so and I am hoping it will eventually help. I got on the scales when I got up though, before we left, and I have not lost a single pound (or even a half pound) since the last time I weighed. Boo-hoo. Must be something I am eating! Anyway, it’s so nice these days in the morning. It’s so much cooler than it was a month ago, and it’s just beautiful in the early morning when we go walking.

I tackled a project today that I’ve been putting off for a while. I cleaned my stove. I have an old coil-style electric stove and my burners were dirty and gross. I also cleaned and scrubbed some other stuff in the kitchen, so that feels really good. I think I have a fall-cleaning thing going on. Nothing major, but I’ve been doing more cleaning, purging, organizing, scrubbing and stuff lately.

I cashed in some of our points on a hotel program that we belong to, and I’m going to get a small gift card to Amazon.com. Yeah! I will also cash in some points to MyPoints.com soon and also get an Amazon card. I’ll put those together and be able to get books. Glorious books 😀

I ran to the library and checked out more books. Now, I went to the library over the weekend and checked out 4 books. But I’ve read one of those, so I stopped by on my way to the grocery to return it. You know, I just can’t usually bring myself to drop the book in the drop-box and keep on driving. No. I have to park and go in, which assures me that I’ll check out more books. I have added them to my sidebar, and I also blogged over at my Project365 blog about the cookbooks I checked out. Post here.

I also blogged about Beau and put up a photo of him for yesterday’s Project365 post (here). I just love the way Beau is with his “stuff” and how far he’s come since we got him last fall. He really and truly is a wonderful dog now. We talk about it all the time. Beau is a testament to what a dog can be if you love him, discipline him, train him and watch him blossom into a loving, devoted companion.

I caught the last 20 minutes of Oprah and got to see Kelly Clarkson sing with Reba McEntire. I like both of those, so I will have to check out the album (“Reba Duets”) on iTunes. Might need to download that one soon!

Tim went after work to play golf, and I’m having some quiet time and trying to catch up on blogging, emails and computer stuff. Then I might read some. That’s sheer bliss to me.

After he gets in, we’ll have an easy and light supper. He weighs in tomorrow at work. We might watch a movie. We’ve rented a couple of good ones lately (“The Last Sin Eater” and “I Am David”) and we got in “The Ultimate Gift” yesterday. I’ve heard that’s a really good movie and I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Hope everyone else is having a red-letter day!

  1. Heidi Said,

I’m sure you are more healthy for walking, even if it isn’t reflected on the scale.
We are trying to walk more too.

    Have fun with your books!

  2. theresa Said,

On the bright side you didn’t gain a pound either!!! I have been watching what I eat since May- and recently started walking with my hubby- I make him carry a backpack that weighs about 35 pounds to help slow him down. But we have been enjoying the time together, a definite positive addition to our day.

  3. Susanne Said,

I love Last Sineater and Ultimate Gift. We went to buy Ultimate Gift a week after it was released and couldn’t find it anywhere in town. Everybody had already sold all their copies. One shop had reordered three times already. We finally ordered it off of Amazon.

  4. amy Said,

So proud of you for exercising and the stove..I cant believe I forgot to DVR oprah, I heard TImberlake was on there!!

Starting a new contest with some cool prizes Friday!

    Peace

  5. Jill Said,

I just love the brisk fall mornings, too. Happy book shopping!

  6. Debi Said,

You just left me with the biggest smile on my face! You just sounded so content and happy, and well, you know how that kind of thing can simply be contagious…so thanks!

And I hope today is another day that leaves you feeling just as good!

  7. Dawn Said,

    Hooray for good days! =)

  8. Karen Said,

Sounds like a wonderful day. Autumn days and books — is there a better combination? I just checked out your photo blog! I love it! I think I’ve popped over there before, but it was fun going through a couple weeks and seeing your day to day activities. I would like to give it a try, maybe just photos without writing too much. That’s all I need is another blog to keep up with! Anyway, I really enjoyed yours. You’re going to be glad when you get to the end of the year and have seen it through!

  9. Bev Said,

I’m really glad to hear that you have had a good day. It’s always really nice to read a post that celebrates the day. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

    Cheers.

  10. Gail Said,

The walking is always good for you even if you aren’t losing, you aren’t gaining!
I taped Oprah to watch back and I think I might like that cd too! Might have to check and see who else is on there with her.
You can come clean my stove, or anything else instead of that. 🙂

  11. mamichelle Said,

Wow, good for you on the walking and books! You know, sometimes the pounds don’t come off because you’re turning fat into muscle and it weighs more. Don’t worry about the number. I’m sure your clothes are fitting better and that’s what really counts.

You do not look like you have a pound to lose anyway!

Glad you had a good one. I’m hoping for a good one on Saturday. All day crafts – sheer bliss to me!!

  12. Momma Said,

Sounds like a great day! I have had that whole cleaning, organizing, purging, etc thing going on too. Last weekend I tackled the garage! It makes you feel good to get the old out and what’s left clean and organized. Ah….great minds….:)

  13. Dianne Said,

You’re inspiring me now on many levels. I really need to do some cleaning projects around here.

How did you like the Last Sin Eater. I usually like Francine River’s books so I might have to check this one out.
