Foodie Meme

As seen recently on Magnolia Mom‘s blog… any meme related to FOOD is right up my alley!

1. How do you like your eggs? Any which way, as long as the white is not runny (I think that’s called “sunny side up”). I eat poached eggs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, eggs over easy (fried).

2. How do you take your coffee/tea? Coffee with lots of Splenda and creamer. Flavored creamer. Currently have White Chocolate Raspberry and French Vanilla in the fridge. Tea needs a bit of Splenda to sweeten it also. It’s a Southern “thang”, I guess πŸ˜€

3. Favorite breakfast food: I never met a breakfast food I didn’t like. I love cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, and the list goes on and on.

4. Peanut butter – smooth or crunchy? Smooth for me. I won’t turn down crunchy, but I’d rather have creamy.

5. What kind of dressing on your salad? Honey mustard, a vinaigrette or most anything will be fine for me πŸ™‚

6. Coke or Pepsi? COKE. Coke Zero specifically. If I go somewhere with only Pepsi products available, I want Code Red or Dr Pepper

7. YouÒ€ℒre feeling lazy, what do you make? Breakfast food, rumien (Tim’s pumped up ramen noodle concoction), or maybe spaghetti

8. YouÒ€ℒre feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order? Tim would order supreme, but if I got to pick, it would either be a Hawaiian (pineapple and Canadian bacon or ham) or a pepperoni and mushroom combo

9. You feel like cooking. What do you make? A big pot of homemade soup and a loaf of homemade bread.

10. Do any foods bring back good memories? Chicken and dumplings or chicken and rice. I also have wonderful memories of some special meals out with Tim πŸ™‚

11. Do any foods bring back bad memories? BEETS. I have a story that I’ve been meaning to blog about for ages. About how I had to sit at the table until I finished my plate. My plate had beets on it, even though I begged and pleaded for none to be put on my plate. I sat there for about 6 hours, until finally my mom screamed at my dad so much he finally let me get up. Which was wonderful, since I had had to pee for like 3 hours πŸ™

12. Do any foods remind you of someone? Some foods remind me of Tim and others remind me of my grandmother. Oddly enough, I don’t remember any special ones from my mom, which is so sad.

More questions on the next page… πŸ™‚

13. Is there a food you refuse to eat? Beets. See #9. Oysters of any kind (see below).

14. What was your favorite food as a child? I can’t remember… probably the basics. I was picky as a child. I think I liked potatoes and rice and also green beans

15. Is there a food that you hated as a child but now like? I wouldn’t eat mushrooms until I got to college, and I didn’t learn to eat a salad until high school. Love those now, especially mushrooms.

16. Is there a food that you liked as a child but now hate? Not that I can think of. I ate fried oysters growing up, until one memorable meal where I cut my oyster open and green stuff OOZED out on my plate. I wouldn’t eat the rest of my oysters then and I have not been near one since.

17. Favorite fruit and vegetable: I love broccoli and I love grapes and strawberries

18. Favorite junk food: Good grief, I love pretty much all of it! Chocolate anything, chips, anything sweet, ice cream, donuts, and the list goes on and on and on

19. Favorite between meal snack: I try really hard not to snack. I do munch on sunflower seeds sporadically, or eat yogurt or a piece of string cheese, but I try not to do that very often. I keep granola bars here to snack on if i get desperate. I’ve bought some hard candy lately, and have been trying to use that when I feel like I want a snack between meals. That and drink water. I’m trying really hard to fill up my stomach with water.

20. Do you have any weird food habits? I don’t think I have any, but I asked Tim and he answered “you mix your cereal”. Which is true, I mix plain Cheerios with the Yogurt ones. That’s a practical thing, the plain ones are much cheaper than the yogurt ones. A small box of Yogurt Cheerios is 2.68 in my grocery and it won’t last but a few mornings for me. Oh, and Tim said it’s “weird that you won’t eat peppers”. I don’t like bell peppers, jalapeno peppers or peppers of any kind. I don’t think it’s weird. Picky maybe, but not weird. πŸ˜€

21. YouÒ€ℒre on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on? I try to drink a lot of water. I try to eat more fruits and veggies. I don’t diet and I really need to. I also need to exercise a LOT more than I do.

22. YouÒ€ℒre off your diet. Now what would you like? Good grief, I love food of all kind! Chocolate, maybe some Italian food, Chinese food or maybe pizza and donuts πŸ™‚

23. How spicy do you order Indian/Thai? I only eat a limited amount of Thai and I’m a total wimp. As mild as it comes. No spice for me!

24. Can I get you a drink? No, thank you

25. Red wine or white? I don’t drink wine

26. Favorite dessert? Chocolate anything. Tiramisu. Cheesecake. Pies or cakes. About the only thing related to a dessert I don’t like is coconut. I don’t like coconut.

27. The perfect nightcap? A glass of orange juice πŸ™‚

  1. Gail Said,

I’ve never heard the beets story before! Surely you weren’t there for 6 hours for real! A small exaggeration? I don’t like ’em either.
How about pimento cheese for Mom, her homemade is what I think of sometimes with her, or congealed salads! Although those aren’t like baked things or meals exactly.
I do/did eat fried oysters but am now rethinking it since reading your experience, oooh gross is what I say! I actually haven’t had those in a really long time b/c we don’t eat fried things generally.
And you know I have to side with Tim, it’s weird that you won’t eat peppers!

  2. Heidi Said,

    What about pickled beets?
I’m with you on breakfast food, although I don’t particularly care for sausage.

  3. jen Said,

Very good food answers…..I love smooth peanut butter too…yum.

  4. Bev Said,

Have you tried a peanut butter and mayo sandwich? That was my Dad’s idea of dessert. Thing is, it’s actually kind of good. πŸ˜‰ I know you don’t do anchovies but on a pizza with pineapple, they are pretty tasty. Well I like them. πŸ˜‰

    Have a great day!

  5. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

I’ll have to say Sweet Potatoes bring back the bad memories for me! My dad forced me to eat them because “they tast like dessert.” I hated every bite, and I will never eat them again! πŸ™‚

  6. Simply Dawn Said,

Ok now I’m hungry πŸ™‚ Love your nightcap!!!

  7. Cam Said,

    Aww, that’s a pitiful story!

I also get warm memories with either chicken & dumplings or chicken & rice…mmmmm….good memories and those are two of my favorite foods!

  8. Susanne Said,

This was a fun meme. But then I’m all about the food. I’m so stealing it, if that’s okay with you.

  9. theresa Said,

For some reason the song from Oliver! just came into my head “Food glorious Food”
Your blog always gets me so hungy πŸ™‚

  10. SnoopMurph Said,

Hmmm, I might have to get a snack now.

  11. Desert Songbird Said,

I decided to lift this from you.

    Foodie Meme

  12. Debi Said,

Some people might think dipping everything in mayo is a bit weird. Not saying that I think so, but some might. LOL

  13. Becky Said,

love this meme…just might use it myself!!! Very interesting. I’m not a fan of beets or oysters either, but no story to go along with it. I can’t believe you had to sit there for SIX hours. OMG!!! Now, I’m really hungry and craving some chicken and dumplings!!! πŸ™‚

  14. Sadie Said,

I absolutely LOVE beets! Pickled beets, anyway. Maybe I’m the only person in the world that does.

I’m doing this meme too, should be posted sometime today.

  15. Stacy aka Vaders Mom Said,
