Another one of these little quizzes that is right on target for me. We are totally not beach people. Something about fair skin, freckles, burns in 10 minutes, doesn’t like to sweat. Something like that. In fact, in the eleven years we’ve been married, Tim and I have never been to the beach! “Been to the beach” as in a destination choice, vacation spot, some place we intended to go. We’ve stopped as we’re passing by or stuck our feet in the sand or water for 10 seconds, but that’s it. We’re totally and completely “mountain” type of people, so this quiz was spot on for me 🙂

You Should Spend Your Summer in the Mountains

You’re quiet, introspective, and a great thinker.
You need a summer vacation that gets you away from the crowds and the heat.
So retreat to the mountains, where you can clear your head.

OK, how about a quick “Question of the Day“: Are you more of a beach person or a mountains person? You can just pick one! Leave me a comment and let me know!

I am a red-head, freckle face, burn in 10 minutes, skin cancer kind of girl~ but I live for the ocean, the sand, and the sound of the waves.
I like the mountains… but it’s not the same.
    Thank god for sun screen!

  2. shellsq Said,

Oh, this is really a tough question. I love both. I would have to say beach over mountains though.

  3. Simply Dawn Said,

WHAT??? I can only pick one? hmmmm I’d say moutain. No the beach. Are there any places that have both?

  4. Danielle Said,

I’m more of a mountains person, but that has more to do with availability. So many mountains here in Utah, not as many beaches. I love going to the ocean, and that is one part I’m looking forward to the most about the vacation we’re planning in October to Southern California. Last time we went to California, we stayed at a campground that was on a bluff over the ocean. We loved going down to the ocean everyday and just playing around. So I’d have to say that I love both of them, but go to the mountains more, just because it’s only an hour or so drive as opposed to 12 hours or so to the nearest ocean. Lake beaches just don’t do it for me as much (though we are going to a lake this weekend : )

  5. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Said,

I think I am a see the beach, swim in the pool person! I like warm weather, but not all the gritty sand that you find everywhere for the next year. According to the quiz, I am I should visit cities. That’s probably accurate for me. I don’t want to live in a huge city, but I like to visit!

  6. Karen Said,

Well, if I want to be with my husband, I would have to say mountains. Being a red-head with fair skin, he’s not much fun at the beach — and he loves the hills. But. . . . since you’re only asking ME — I say BEACH all the way! It’s that New Jersey blood that runs in my veins. I love the shore, even after living in Colorado most of my life.

  7. Laura Said,

Ah, in northern Nevada you get to have both. One word: Tahoe. (Okay, and all the other bazillion lakes.) 😀 And that is one of the reasons I love it here.

  8. Gail Said,

Only pick one! I love the sounds of the beach but the sun doesn’t work for me, I’m too fair too! There’s something relaxing about reading in a chair with the breeze blowing and hearing the water, but I HAVE to under an umbrella.
Guess I’d say mountains. But we tend to do more activities then and it’s not as relaxing, fun though.

  9. Stacy Said,

I like the beach, but I think it’s because I grew up in the moutains.

  10. Lynne Said,

BEACH!!! I crave the beach. I wish I could build a house right on the beach. I need to hear the ocean, smell the salty air, feel that ocean breeze. I can sit for hours and just watch the water. As I sit, I can just feel all my problems melting away.

And, if I play my cards right, I’ll be down on the beach in a couple of weeks.

  11. Melody Said,

Here’s mine, Stacy! It said I should spend my time in the beach…hehe.

“You’re a free spirit who is always thinking of new ways to have fun.
And you don’t just love summer… you live for it.
So, you really should blow off your responsibilities and head to the beach!”

  12. sherry Said,

I took the quiz: “You’re a free spirit who is always thinking of new ways to have fun. And you don’t just love summer… you live for it.
So, you really should blow off your responsibilities and head to the beach!”

That doesn’t sound like me at all — HOWEVER, I do love the beach! The kids and I go to this really uncrowded beach about an hour’s drive from here and we have so much fun in the water together!

I love the mountains for their beauty and tranquility.

Vacation? I’d go to the beach. To live? Mountains.

    I think.

    Ask again later.

    😀

    Sherry

  13. Carrie Said,

I was born and raised in Va Beach. Moved away when I was 19 but my family is still there. I’m in South Carolina now but can’t stand the beach! Sand bugs me. It’s a sensory issue, LOL. I am a mountain person, through and through!

  14. Dianne Said,

I can never get to this blogthings site from home, darn it! But I am not much of a beach person either. I love the shore, the waves, the towns, the boats – but not laying on or walking in filthy sand. And I never venture out in the water more than 6 inches or so. My dream vacation would be a week or so in New England in the fall.

  15. amy Said,

If I had to pick one it wouldbe the mountains in the fall! SOoo romantic!

  16. Claire Said,

Ummm…not really right! I burn easily and am not really a beach person but HATE driving to the mountains. I don’t know if either…maybe mountains if I could be transported there.

  17. Cam Said,

Beach, beach, beach!! And that’s coming from someone so fair-skinned that I’ve been called an albino before (I’m not, but I’m probably not too many steps away from that fair), blonde, freckled, and I burn in minutes…I can’t even swim! But I still love the beach—well, our beaches here, anyway. 🙂
Too bad there are no mountains near you.

  18. Susanne Said,

I’ve only been to an ocean beach once in my life. It’s always been lake beaches. And loved it. But I’m totally a mountain girl. Loooove the mountains.

  19. Coach J Said,

Well, my quiz said I was a road person, and I think I could get up for that–I know I could–if I had lots and lots of cash!!
But, to answer your question, I really prefer the beach ’cause I can sit there for free and soak up some sun, or put my umbrella up, and read lots of books. But I like visiting the mountains every now and then. It’s just that everything you do costs something, and no where I’d like to relax for hours on end that I’d pay for. 🙂 When we go to the mtns, we’re busy doing things! I’ve only been to the smoky mtns, though. Perhaps I need to broaden my horizons! 🙂

  20. Kara Said,

Beach, beach, beach! I have fair skin and burn like crazy and don’t love sand stuck all over me, but I LOVE the sound of waves crashing and looking out over the ocean and not being able to see the other side. It is so peaceful and a good reminder that I don’t need to get caught up in the little stuff of life!

  21. Debi Said,

I got the mountains, too. Which is dead on. I despise the beach! It’s okay to go and do some beach-combing for a bit, but spending even a day there is my idea of torture! I burn like crazy, hate having sand stuck to me, and despise being wet!

  22. Desert Songbird Said,

No surprise for me – I’m supposed to be at the beach!

  23. Shawna Said,

I’m a beach bum. We just back back from Gulf Shores! I even thought of you while we were driving through. I like to visit the beach but I wouldn’t like to live there. I would much rather prefer to live in the mountains. I’m fond of hills, greenery, and rivers. I can only take so much sand in my swimsuit not mention everywhere else! We brought a lot home with us!!

  24. Kim Said,

Hands down a beach peson!!! I have traumatic memories of hiking in the mountains when I was in high school. I think it turned me off to mountains forever after that. 🙂
    *smiles*
    Kim

  25. Shayna Said,

I know I am late in the game on this one. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the beach!!I love the sand and the ocean. The smell of the salt air and the sound of the surf. The mountains are nice, but there is just something about the beach! I do prefer the West Coast over the East Coast though. I don’t like humid heat. Haven’t been to Hawaii or the Carribean yet though!
