Wow, it’s hard for me to believe that it’s already July! It’s certainly been hot enough here for a while. It has felt like summer here for several months. We grill nearly year round at our house, since our weather is almost always warm, and we don’t have a lot of cold weather in the winter. The summer is traditionally the time that most people grill, and I think the holidays of July 4th and Labor Day are big grilling times.
So, that’s today’s Question of the Day – do you have a grill? Is it charcoal or gas? Who grills – you, your spouse, or someone else in your household? How often do you grill? Do you plan to grill out for July 4th? If so, what kind of food will you put on the grill? What’s your favorite thing to grill?
Here’s my answers: We have a gas grill and we use it a lot. Tim does all of the grilling at our house. We grill year round, but especially a lot in the fall during football season. We grill most everything from the norm (hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages dogs, chicken, pork chops) to fish, veggies and even some fruit (we’ve tried pineapple). I love doing veggies on the grill, especially asparagus, zucchini and portobella mushrooms. We haven’t tried pizza yet, but maybe one day 🙂
How about you? Leave me a comment and let me know…
Have a great day and a wonderful 4th of July!
We just got a huuuuuuuuuge gas grill at Wal-Mart about a month ago. I use it all the time…I am the primary cook on it 🙂
We won’t use it July 4th because we’re going to my parents’ and my uncle is frying catfish. I am making desserts 🙂
Have a happy 4th if I don’t make it back over here before then! 🙂
Wow! I’m first! We have a gas grill, too, but I do 90% of the grilling! Hubby will grill if company is here, but otherwise, it’s up to me. (Could be ’cause I grill while he’s cleaning up from work!) I like to grill year round. My fave will always be hamburgers. There’s just something about them. They’re comfort food to me. I’d like to try pizza one day, too, so I can do that while we’re camping! Have a great day, Stacy!
Ok, so I wasn’t first….but I was second!! 🙂
We have a big ol’ gas grill. David is the only one that uses it. I refuse. They scare me and I just know I’ll blow up the neighborhood if I tried strating it, LOL! We grill year round, as well. Everything you can think of gets grilled here, too. Grilled banana boats are yummy, is ya like bananas.
We also have an indoor grill, a GF Grill, and a handful of propane grills for camping, LOL.
Oh! The bean and bacon chowder … No, I haven’t made it before. I don’t *do* beans in the cp, either. They’re icky. I’m gonna cook the beans on their own and toss them in the cp during the last 30 minutes or so. :o)
We have a charcoal grill and I love it. I like it better than the gas grill that I used to have…better flavor IMO. I hope to be able to find a couple of t-bones this afternoon to put on the grill tomorrow. If not that, then maybe some salmon steaks. I want to try the cedar plank method of grilling. Have you tried that yet??
We have gas and I do almost all of the grilling but I wish Don would do more! It’s sorta like Coach J says, if we have company he’ll do more of it then. I do burgers/turkey burgers, hot dogs once in a blue moon although I love them! Chicken, fish, veggies and did the pineapple last night! We’ve done kabobs before…..Jeremy did pizza for us on their gas grill and it was yummy! He also does a great pork tenderloin on the grill but I’ve never done it because we rarely eat pork.
We have a charcoal grill and Jimmy does the grilling 🙂 We prenty much grill year round too. As for as the 4th goes, we’ll be traveling to Texas…Yeah! So I don’t know if my brother has any plans to grill. I think he’s still in shock we’re coming there 🙂
Hope you guys have a great 4th.
Great question!! We have a gas grill, although I do know how to build a fire on charcoal. We both grill and my favorite grilled food is grilled bbq chicken. It just smells so good. When someone in the neighborhood is grilling chicken, my mouth waters!
Have a great 4th of july!
My hubby does the grilling, and it’s usually burgers. We just got a new stainless steel grill, and we will use it tomorrow for the first time!
We have a gas bbq island in our backyard and LOVE it. I love to grill-mainly because Max cooks then. 🙂
By the way…
You’ve been tagged. Check out my blog entry titled “Tagged!”
I miss having a grill too. =(
We don’t have a grill. We were given a basic grill a few years back, but since we never ever used it, we sold it in a yard sale. Neither of us knows how to use a grill, and we never have money to buy a lot of meat anyway, we’re just not grilling people. I like to eat other people’s grilled foods, though! 😉 I love going to a cookout.
We have a small gas grill. Dom does the grilling. We’ll do steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, sausage. He’s done peppers on the grill, but not other veggies. How do you do them? Do you use a basket? The pineapple sounds good, but then I love pineapple. We’ll have to try some new things. Tomorrow, I have no idea what we’ll do for dinner. I don’t think Shelby will be home. Maybe Donna and Hank can come over and we’ll do something on the grill together.
We have a gas grill and my husband, Scot, does the grilling. He has two helpers – our 6 year olds. We are not planning on grilling on the 4th because we won’t be here. It is funny though, my son won’t eat a hamburger to save his life UNLESS it is on the grill. So, the only time he will eat red meat is if “he” cooks with Daddy on the grill!
Charcoal, because my mom bought it and Jeff refuses to throw it away even though it’s more rust now than anything. Jeff’s the grill master about once a year. He hates to clean the thing. He tells me to go to Sonic if I want a burger. (He’s strange like that.)
We have a gas grill and use it year round. Rich and I both cook on it. We cook most meats on it 🙂 Tomorrow we are having steak tips. YUM! I loved grilled vegetables but haven’t figured out how to get the veggies to taste good!
take care,
Dawn
I don’t know how to grill, unless you count the George Foreman one, LOL!
We have a gas grill and I love to grill all summer long. Hubby used to do the grilling but in the last years I’ve done it. Hmmm, wonder how that happened? ;v)
We have a gas grill. We have used ours so much one side is literally broken into! We have to get a new one soon! We grill all year unless it gets really cold in Winter. We grill everything (even bread). My hubby does the grilling. 🙂
We have a charcoal grill. We love grilling food at least once every two weeks. My husband enjoys grilling food but the household help are able to do it too. I think I’m the only one who hasn’t tried it yet.
My husband loves grilled steak while I like grilled pork and some grilled eggplants. My son likes grilled hotdogs. 🙂
Love question of the day! Yes we grill…we have a gas grill. Scott grills….I have no idea how to do any of that. I just prepare it and hand it over. We grill everything…try honey and brown sugar on your pineapple on the grill next time…yummy! I think hot dogs are the best on the grill. Nothing like it. Today we are still at moms and we are going to grill 3 slabs of baby back ribs…corn on the cob……we are having baked beans red potatoes salad watermelon, brownies with strawberries and blueberries and whip cream, and fresh sliced tomatoes…..yum! Maybe some homemade vanilla ice cream I bought all the stuff just haven’t decided if we are doing it or not. Happy 4th!
CHARCOAL all the way baby! Just cooked on it last night-well, the hubster did anyway. Burnt my dogs to just the right crispiness! I was a bad girl and ate two. Oh well!
I tagged you for a meme so I could get to know you better. If you’ve done it like a thousand times already then no sweat. Otherwise I look forward to seeing your answers!
We’re boring when it comes to grilling. Rich does it all on our little charcoal grill. Nothing fancy…burgers, chicken, occasionally steak. We can’t grill all year long…it gets difficult when the grill is buried under 2 feet of snow for months on end. But late spring through early fall, we probably average 2 nights of grilling a week.
Can’t live without my BBQ! It came with the condo and has a gas line going to it so we don’t have to worry about propane tanks or charcoal. We use it all the time!
