Here’s a few things going on with me and with us…. and most of them are good things. Little bits of happy 🙂
We went to a new little fast-food type Japanese restaurant that opened up near our house. It’s mostly take out but they have a couple of booths and tables and we decided to eat there rather than take it home. It was pretty expensive, although not as much as the regular Japanese places here. Since they opened up a Nissan auto plant about 20 minutes from my house, we’ve gone from one Japanese place to at least 8 or 9 in the area. We don’t eat sushi, but we do like the stuff they cook in front of you. I tried edamame for the first time and they were good! We had a crab roll, which while divine (crab, asparagus and cream cheese), I won’t get another one. A whopping 4.95 for that one roll. We each got a hibachi plate of chicken and shrimp. Very good. Fried rice, steamed veggies, teriyaki type chicken and shrimp. Pricey, but good. We like trying new places 🙂
We went to the video store and rented two movies to watch this weekend – Night at the Museum and The Pursuit of Happyness. Night at the Museum was cute (we watched it last night) and we’re going to watch the other one tonight probably. I’ve read good things about both movies, so we’re hoping for two winners.
I’m hoping this will be the last trip to the video store for a while. Thanks to Lauren for pointing out the Netflix giveaway over at Nan‘s blog – Life is Like a Lunchbox. Nan sponsored a contest this week, and gave away 5 free 6 month subscriptions to Netflix. I won one, and I’m still so very excited! Lauren won one also, and so did my sister Gail. Yippeee!! We love movies and have been wanting to try Netflix for a while now. This comes at such an opportune time. With all of our favorite TV shows ending for the summer, we won’t have anything to watch. We normally rent a lot of movies in the summer anyway, so this is indeed a blessing. Thanks so much to the folks at Netflix for offering this, and for Nan for organizing and handling all of this. I’m still so excited! 
I went to a library sale this morning while Tim was playing golf. I have two different ones I go to, about every 3 or 4 months. This is my lesser favorite of the two, because even though the two branches are both in my regular library system, one of them always seems to have better books. I have no idea why! This one didn’t have a lot of the books I was hoping to find, and every one that I did find was of the small 4×6 paperback variety. I really prefer the large trade paperback size now, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers. And for 50 cents each, those paperbacks are a good deal. I was SO excited to find every single one of the Anne George “Southern Sisters Murder Mysteries” there, so I bought all of them. I had already read one from my library, right smack dab in the middle, but I went ahead and bought it too. After I read them, I hope to let my sister Gail and my mother-in-law borrow them. I think they’re going to be wonderful little fun books to read and I think they’ll both enjoy them as much as I will. Which, when you think about it, is less than 2 trips to Starbucks for all of those glorious books 🙂
I ran some errands Friday afternoon. I came home with a couple of things. Thanks to a tip from Kim, I found a couple of “Life is Good” items at my local Marshall’s. I couldn’t find any at TJMaxx, where she said she found hers, but still. I got a blue baseball cap. Yippee! I was hoping to find some t-shirts, but I couldn’t find a single one. I also got another little happy for myself, something I’ve been needing for a while now. I posted a photo of it over at my Project365 blog, so hop on over and venture a guess if you’d like to play along 🙂

Ooo, congratulations on that Netflix subscription win! That’s so great! I LOVE Netflix — you may end up staying on with them after your free subscription runs out. It’s so convenient, especially for someone like me who doesn’t get out much (though that’s changing), and easy to keep track of what you’ve seen and want to see. What I do a lot is subscribe for a few months, watch everything I really want to see, and then unsubscribe for about a year to let movies I want to see build up, and then I resubscribe for another few months. Works great for me!
That Netflix subscription should be great for you and Gail. Great day at the library sale. When you and Gail and your mother-in-law finish reading the Anne George books, could I borrow them? My library doesn’t have all of them.
I’m excited to read these later when you’re done! And you won another book today, on a roll you are!

Oh yeah, yay for us on the Netflix! I think it’s gonna work good since I live in such a small town……we did Night at the Museum on ppv at the hotel when we went to Mobile recently, kinda cute but Jerry didn’t really like it! Don & I saw Pursuit of Happyness at theater and thought it was really good.
Glad to hear you like edamame – they have them on the salad bar at our Ruby Tuesdays and I love them! I think I would want to splurge on one of those crab rolls every now and then, I love all of the ingredients you listed.

Enjoy the Netflix – I love it. Love not standing around with my head tilted sideways in the video store, wondering what might be good. Love keeping a list of to-be-watched movies at hand.

I watched the Pursuit of Happyness a few weeks ago. I really liked it! I wanted to shake some sense into the main character a couple of times, but other than that, a very inspiring & touching movie.

Hurray for winning the Netflix subscription! You will LOVE IT! We’ve subscribed for nearly three years now (on and off) and with both of us and all three kids, it’s well used!
Is “Night At the Museum” ok for kids? Scary is fine — just no sex or a lot of bad language and we’re good to go!
Mike and I are going to the BEST library sale tomorrow! 5 dollars for a big bag of books 😀 Last year the selection was incredible! I hope it is this year too. I hope I can sleep!

I have the blockbuster online subscription, I love it. I like that I can return the movie to blockbuster and exchange it for another movie. It’s like getting free movies all the time. Anyway, good week & congratulations.

Congrats on the Netfilx membership. It is addicting. We used to do Netflix, but have switched to Blockbuster. The only reason we did that is b/c from time to time we will return a movie directly to the store and you can instantly get another movie in it’s place. Plus, we get a free video game once a month from the store. The BB is only one block from our house, so it seems silly that we subscribe to an online membership, but it works for us! Okay, now I am gonna hop over to P365 and see your recent treasures.

I just tagged you for a fun restaurant meme, and as I clicked over here to your blog, I realized that our VERY-FAVORITE restaurant is a Japanese one here in town. We just ate there Friday, but since it’s so expensive, it doesn’t even come to mind when I think about where we like to eat.

There’s a new Thai restaurant on 55 where Moe’s used to be. I really want to try that one out. japanese sounds good, too. I think I like Asian food…except I don’t really eat much rice! Maybe I don’t like Asian food! 🙂
Ok, since I am already a Netflix member, all i got is that I wish it was PF Changs or his little fast food equivalent. Now that would be food.
Congrats on another win! That is so wonderful. I’ve seen both of the movies you rented–I liked Night at the Museum best. My kids thought that was the greatest. I have thought of doing the netflix or the blockbuster thing, but never have. We don’t have cable, so that might be a nice alternative. I love to go to library sales to find books that I enjoyed as a child–like Cherry Ames or Donna Parker. It ‘s like finding a treasure when they actually have one.
We enjoyed both those movies. Make sure you watch the special stuff where they talk to the guy the movie is about. It’s very interesting.
